Suspend/Resume Takes About 15 Seconds To Load Up GTA 5 on PS4, Apparently

Not ideal, but better than what we have, I guess.

A lot of users out there are beta testing the new upcoming PlayStation 4 firmware update before it gets out there in the wild, which is how we know so much about it even though it still does not even have a concrete release date yet.

But there is a reason people are so pumped for it- it will be bringing with it a slew of long request and awaited features, including the Suspend/Resume functionality that was promised to us more than two years ago now.

Suspend/Resume, for those of you who do not know, is sort of a ‘sleep mode’ for consoles- if you have a PS Vita or Nintendo 3DS, you will know how it works. Basically, it suspends the game exactly where it is and puts the console in a low powered state, so you don’t have to leave your console switched on to avoid losing progress.

People have long clamored for it to come to PS4, and now that it is, it appears it isn’t quite as quick and instantaneous as it is on other systems, at least not currently. As the above video shows, it takes about 16 seconds for the console to resume GTA V from a suspended state.

But before you get too disappointed, remember this is a video from a feature in beta- don’t be surprised if it is substantially quicker by the time the feature does go live.
