This time around, Helldivers will be tasked with supporting the construction of massive walls in space to block Terminid advances.

In a new campaign brief video, developer Arrowhead Game Studios has revealed the new objective for Helldivers 2 players – to take on more Terminids. The narrative for this new war waged against the bugs revolves around the construction of TCS 2.0 – a large wall that will block Terminid advances. The video describes TCS 2.0 as being “bigger, better, and safer than Termicide 1 ever was.”

Successfully aiding in the construction of TCS 2.0 will reward players with a new gun – the R-4 Hyena Marksman Rifle.

“The Ministry of Defense has approved a bold new initiative to make the galaxy safe again,” explains the video’s narrator. “Protecting our citizens from fascism behind an impenetrable barrier of democratic resilience. Construction is already underway on the new TCS 2.0. Bigger. Better. And safer than Termicide 1 ever was.”

Fans of Helldivers 2 will recall the Terminid outbreak during the Second Galactic War, which led to the engagement of the Terminid Control System (TCS) – a bug extermination network revolving around the use of Termicide-dispensing towers across entire planets. At the time, players were tasked with pushing the Terminid advance back to the Umlaut Sector, where the towers would then be built by S.E.A.F. engineers.

The result was the total extermination of every Terminid on planets where TCS was successfully built. Unfortunately, however, the Helldivers weren’t successful at first, with large Terminid swarms forcing a retreat for S.E.A.F. engineers. Eventually, the TCS would be activated, wiping the Terminid forces off those planets.

Interestingly, the original TCS would end up failing, with the same planets seeing new Terminid population surges, with some planets even seeing exponential population growth. In the story, this was linked to Termicide exposure, which seemingly mutated Terminids to bolster their numbers further. TCS would eventually be decommissioned, since the Terminids on those planets were also growing more resistant to it.

This latest story beat follows up on the massive update Helldivers 2 got earlier this month. Among other things, the update brought in a new Galactic Campaigns system that has been described by Arrowhead Game Studios as “the next evolution of Major Orders.” Rather than focusing on single orders, the new system now revolves around campaigns over the course of between 1 and 3 weeks. It also offers players more clarity about their objectives, giving them a better idea of the stakes of the current story and the rewards they will earn for participating.

“We want to make these rewards special because we also think players should earn more than just medals,” explained game director Mikael Eriksson.

The update also introduced a new Control Center terminal in the players’ ships where they could better manage their Galactic Campaign efforts and any Major Orders they were working towards. Along with this, it brought in a new Forest (Fall) biome and a series of balancing changes to weapons, armors, Stratagems, and enemies.

Helldivers 2 is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Last month, the studio also unveiled its collaboration with Games Workshop to work on a new Legendary Warbond featuring weapons and gear from Warhammer 40,000.

Galactic Campaigns will be longer-term versions of the original Galactic War, and will give players more chances to earn rewards.

A few weeks after discussing its plans for sweeping changes to how Helldivers 2’s Galactic War works, Arrowhead Game Studios has now released an update that brings in these changes. Headlining the patch is the new Galactic Campaigns system, along with the introduction of a new Control Center terminal, a new Forest (Fall) biome, and rebalances to enemies, vehicles, and Stratagems.

Described as the “next evolution of Major Orders”, Galactic Campaigns are between 1 and 3 weeks in length, and have been designed to give players a clearer idea of the ongoing narrative, their progression through the narrative, and what the stakes are for current and future conflicts. The system has also been designed with the idea of providing players more chances to earn rewards, with one reward always being available as long as conditions are met.

“We want to make these rewards special, because we also think players should earn more than just medals,” explained game director Mikael Eriksson.

More details about the ongoing Galactic Campaign will be available through a previously-unused terminal opposite the armory, now known as the Control Center terminal. Along with this, the terminal also includes an archive that will get filled up as the first Galactic Campaign comes to an end, giving returning players a chance to check out which major story beats they may have missed.

On the balancing front, vehicles in Helldivers 2 now have more accurate armor values. For example, while exosuits have a mix of heavy and medium armor, the Bastion gets heavy armor throughout. Enemies have also been given ways to deal with this, thanks to increased armor penetration values. Arrowhead Game Studios has said that the intent behind these changes was to make the Bastion tank feel tankier and be able to ignore small attacks, while maintaining the threat that players might feel when facing a tougher enemy. For more details on the upgrade, check out the full patch notes below.

Helldivers 2 is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Miscellaneous

Balancing

General balance changes

Vehicle armor and enemies AP rebalance

Super Earth vehicles now have more accurate Armor values (Bastion gets heavy armor, exosuits a mix of heavy and medium armor, ballistic shield heavy armor).

Some enemies have received increased armor penetration values so they can deal with the vehicles, but not all. There will be a lot of smaller enemies and explosions that won’t be able to hurt something like the Bastion or the Exo Suits (scavengers, Automatons small arms fire, hunters, small to medium obstacle explosions, cyborg small arms etc).

But there are still a lot in the enemies arsenal that can hurt you (and also important is that a lot of YOUR arsenal now has a harder time hurting your own vehicles).

Some enemies have had their durable damage reduced

There are too many changes to properly list, so we ask you to play and tell us how it feels. The intent is the following

The Bastion tank should feel “tankier” and ignore small attacks, withstand more medium attacks and its survivability against heavy attacks should be unchanged

The Exo Suits have a similar change as the Bastion tank in terms of ignoring more small attacks and withstanding medium attacks better. The increase in health should overall make it feel a bit more tanky even against heavy attacks.

The FRV has received an increase in health that will make it handle medium attacks similar to before, but be able to withstand heavy attacks better granting better survivability.

The Ballistic Shield should feel like it can ignore small attacks and handle medium attacks better.

Sentry health rebalance

Increased the health of all sentries by 100% to compensate for the general damage increase of enemies vs vehicles.

We have previously increased durable damage on a lot of enemies and since sentries are durable they have lost some of their utility. We didn’t want them to become squishier, this change should improve their versatility on the battlefield.

Reloading improvements

Improvements to make reloading more responsive, part of this is allowing reloading while dodge diving, also remembering the reload state better so if you’re ragdolled while reloading you will continue it when regaining control.

Introduced the concept of delayed reloads. If you try to trigger a reload while the player is not allowed to do so, the reload will be delayed until the player is able to reload with a maximum of 1.2s delay from when the reload input was pressed.

Bastion Pattern Customization

If you own the vehicle patterns from a Premium Warbond, they can now also be applied to the Bastion Tank! It does not apply to Legendary Warbonds retroactively at this time.

Decreased Exo Suit cooldown

Reduce the cooldown of mechs from 10 minutes down to 8. The intent is to find a better balance with mechs and allow more time with fun stratagems

Throwables amounts rebalance

Intent is to make some of the less used throwables more available and viable options

Orbitals damage rebalance

Intent is to make the larger orbitals feel more like the large projectiles from orbit as they are so the projectile and explosion damage should better match that.

Larger projectiles explosions like the 380mm and 120mm are increased to make close hits more effective vs larger enemies like Chargers.

Compared to explosions like the Ultimatum these will have less damage at the center, but also less damage fall off so it will have a more consistent damage over its total area.

The Railcannon also got more damage to be more effective vs some of the largest enemies like the Vox engines. It will still not one shot the largest enemies like Factory strider, Hive lord and similar.

Primary weapons

M7S SMG

In a lengthy post, director Mikael Eriksson spoke about the steps taken by the studio to address Helldivers 2's various progression systems.

Helldivers 2 game director Mikael Eriksson has revealed more details about the decisions made by Arrowhead Game Studios when it comes to the progression systems in the co-op shooter. Responding to the question about “why it’s not progressing faster,” Eriksson discussed the two broad category of progression in Helldivers 2 – Community Progression and Player Progression. While the former revolves around things like contributions to the Galactic War effort, the latter focuses on a player’s personal journey.

When it comes to expanding on the endgame content offered by Helldivers 2, Eriksson noted that simply raising the level cap for players isn’t quite enough to address player feedback on a foundational level. Rather, decisions like that only start making sense once there are actually deeper progression systems that have been put in place. This way, future unlocks can feel more valuable for a variety of players, rather than just the players who have reached the absolute endgame after having unlocked everything.

When it comes to Community Progression, Eriksson acknowledged the fact that the team has found it difficult to communicate whether a player’s actions actually have any tangible effect on the Galactic War. To address this, June will see the launch of Galactic War Campaigns, which have been described as “the next evolution of Major Orders.” These campaigns will be between 1 and 3 weeks in length, and will give players a clearer idea of the current narrative, its progression, previous outcomes, and stakes for future conflicts.

Campaigns will also offer players more chances to earn rewards, since at least one Campaign reward will always be available as long as its conditions are met. “We want to make these rewards special, because we also think players should earn more than just medals,” explained Eriksson. To that end, Arrowhead Game Studios will be experimenting with different kinds of rewards, from gameplay-altering effects to cool items. To kick things off, the first Campaign will reward players with a new FRV on completion.

Eriksson has also revealed that Arrowhead Game Studios has been experimenting with a new style of missions, dubbed Planet Warfronts, which will make use of roguelite gameplay systems to give players more options when it comes to liberating planets. There will be three distinct types of missions in Planet Warfront – “Defend” missions in liberated territory, “Frontline War” missions on the frontlines, and “Behind Enemy Lines” missions in enemy-controlled territories. These missions will take place in key strategic locations on planets, like cities, and will feature different active enemy variants depending on the planet and its region. Planet Warfonts is still in development and doesn’t yet have a release date.

As for Player Progression, Eriksson acknowledged that Personal Orders may have started feeling too repetitive, and can often be in conflict with the goals of their immediate squad and the community as a whole. To address this, the studio is working on “Personal Campaign Progression”, where each Galactic War Campaign will feature its own personal progression reward track. Through this, even failing to reach the goals of a campaign will still mean that players get to unlock something.

Players’ Super Destroyers are also getting more customization options, and players will get even more upgrade options thanks to an overhaul of the ship module system. There will also be entirely new ships for players to unlock, and the studio has already set up a dedicated ship team to work on its first new ship. Each new ship will feature its own unique progression paths, specializations, and customization options.

Furthermore, the coming updates to Helldivers 2 will bring in a host of improvements, including the ability to use assisted reload as long as either the carrier or the reloader of the weapon have the right backpack, double the number of emote slots, and reduced dead inputs on stimming. In the longer term, the studio wants to address a host of other issues, like Stratagem bouncing, Hellpod steering, improving traversal for players and enemies, increasing the level cap to 300, improvements to economy and resources, fixes to Warbond and Superstore menus, and stability and balance improvements.

Helldivers 2 is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

The studio said in its statement that it is waiting for a fix from Sony, Microsoft, and Valve so that it can release the patch.

While Helldivers 2 was supposed to get a major update on May 27th, Arrowhead Game studios has announced that this update has been delayed to an unknown time. In a statement, the studio has said that the update is ready on its end, and that it is working with platform partners – Valve, Sony, and Microsoft – to release the patch, do its final checks, and push it to players.

However, for the time being, Arrowhead doesn’t yet have an estimate for when it will get a fix from the platform partners, which is essentially causing the hold up. “We’re keeping in close contact with these teams and we will update you when we have more news,” it said in a statement.

The update was slated to be a major one, since it was going to bring in a host of technical improvements to the game. For the PC version, Arrowhead said that it worked with Nixxes to bring in AMD FSR 4.0.3, Nvidia DLSS 4.5, and Intel XeSS 3.0 support. For console players, the update includes PSSR support on PS5 Pro and FSR 3.1 support for base PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

In the meantime, those playing Helldivers 2 on PlayStation can already use support for Variable Refresh Rate displays that fix tearing and V-Sync-related stutters.

Earlier this month, the studio also mentioned some of its plans for the future of Helldivers 2. Acknowledging player feedback through a Super Earth transmission, Arrowhead Game Studios has confirmed that it will be bringing in more compelling content for its Galactic War meta story, complete with revised rewards for progression, new gameplay systems, and multi-week “Campaigns” that will tell entire stories. Along with this, storylines are also going to get more interesting thanks to outcomes that will depend on the choices that players make in the game.

Generally speaking, the studio also wants to release updates on more frequent updates, complete with better-written patch notes that offer more details about issues that are getting fixed and new content that is coming to the game. Wrapping up its transmission, the studio has also confirmed that it is bringing in new vehicles that can be obtained through gameplay, as well as a host of new red Stratagems.

The studio also recently announced a collaboration with Games Workshop to release a new Legendary Warbond that will bring in weapons and gear inspired by Warhammer 40,000. Announced during the Warhammer Skulls 2026 Showcase, no real details about the Legendary Warbond, like release date, have been revealed for now. However, the fact that it has been labelled as a Legendary Warbond indicates that it will be priced at 1,500 Super Credits, compared to the 1,000 Super Credits price tag of Premium Warbonds.

Helldivers 2 is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The co-op shooter kicked off its Battle for Cyberstan story arc with an update back in February, and since then, the studio has also introduced a host of new content, including biomes and an enemy variant.

More details will be revealed "soon," but it seems a given that players can expect popular Space Marine armor sets and iconic weapons.

While Arrowhead Game Studios is working to deploy fixes and improve the overall state of Helldivers 2, it’s still delivering some pretty notable collaborations. The latest is with Warhammer 40,000 in the next Legendary Warbond, as announced in the Warhammer Skulls 2026 Showcase.

Unfortunately, there isn’t any further information or a release date – just the promise that it’s “coming soon.” Since launch, there have been two Legendary Warbonds for Killzone and Halo 3: ODST, which added armor sets, weapons, and cosmetics from both titles. The biggest difference from Premium Warbonds is that they cost 1,500 Super Credits instead of 1,000 ($10).

It’s almost a given that the Warhammer 40,000 Legendary Warbond will feature armor sets based on the Space Marines, but which Chapters? The Ultramarines are likely a shoo-in alongside the Blood Angels and the Space Wolves. You can also likely expect iconic weapons like the Boltgun and Chainsword, but once again, we’ll have to wait and see.

In the meantime, Helldivers 2 will receive a patch on May 27th to add support for AMD FSR, DLSS 4.5, XeSS 3.0, and PSSR support for PS5 Pro players. It’s also working on new Campaigns for Galactic War that last several weeks alongside improving the progression systems and much more. Head here for more details.

Variable Refresh Rate is now available on PS5 and PS5 Pro, while PC players can take advantage of Nvidia Reflex for improved response.

Among the many complaints against Arrowhead Game Studios and Helldivers 2 is performance. After promising sweeping changes for the co-op shooter, the team has confirmed that one such patch is due on May 27th, and it’s finally supporting various upscalers.

With the help of Nixxes, the PC version will soon offer AMD FSR 4.0.3 on supported GPUs alongside FSR 3.1.5, Nvidia DLSS 4.5 and Intel XeSS 3.0. On consoles, PS5 Pro players can look forward to PSSR support, while the base PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will support FSR 3.1. But that’s not all.

Available now for PlayStation players, Variable Refresh Rate will finally address screen-tearing and V-Sync stutters. Variable Rate Shading is also inbound to help with GPU load, while the base consoles and PC will be able to take advantage of Dynamic Resolution Scaling. Performance mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X is also being bumped up to 1440p, while the former Power Saving Mode will support Quality mode.

And if that’s not enough, Nvidia Reflex (available now) and AMD Anti-Lag 2 should improve the overall responsiveness. This isn’t the end either, with Arrowhead saying it will be “closely monitoring all platforms and hardware configurations, keeping a sharp eye out for anything that needs tuning, and deploying further adjustments as required. We’re also preparing a dedicated tech-focused update later this summer to push these improvements even further.

“We’ve been following your feedback over the past few days and seeing the conversations across the Helldivers 2 community. Helldivers 2 matters to all of us, and we want to be clearer about what we’re working on and what’s coming next.”

With the Galactic War set to receive new multi-week-long campaigns with more meaningful choices, an increased player cap, new red Stratagems, and more, it may be the best time to jump back into the battle for Super Earth. Stay tuned for more updates on other changes in the meantime.

New vehicles, red Stratagems, an increased level cap for players, and more are also in the works as Arrowhead addresses feedback.

It’s been a busy year for Helldivers 2, what with the Battle for Cyberstan update and the addition of new biomes and enemy variants alongside other changes and the usual cycle of regular maintenance patches. That said, there’s been some rumbling from players about Arrowhead’s priorities lately, and it’s followed up with a new transmission from Super Earth, outlining upcoming plans.

“We’ve been following your feedback over the past few days and seeing the conversations across the Helldivers 2 community. Helldivers 2 matters to all of us, and we want to be clearer about what we’re working on and what’s coming next.”

Meta-progression and the Galactic War are set to take things up a notch, with revised progression rewards and systems, new multi-week “Campaigns”, and action-based outcomes that can have you thinking carefully about your choices in the game. It’s all aimed at making rewards more meaningful and making the entire game feel more reactive to what players do with it.

The team’s also going to be more frequent with updates, and is emphatic about getting better patch notes across to you after some complaints about missing additions. Open beta testing is being mulled over, with the team weighing its options and devising a strategy that gets players to provide feedback on balancing changes without spoiling upcoming content for the game.

If that wasn’t enough, new vehicles will be obtainable through gameplay in “the future”, and Arrowhead is “actively working” on new red Stratagems, further evolving ships, and expanding the player cap up to level 150 “and beyond.”

The two biomes are based on new planets discovered by Super Earth that feature "lush, tranquil forests with winding paths".

Arrowhead Game Studios has released a new update for co-op shooter Helldivers 2. Rather than simply being a patch for fixing up bugs, however, the update brings in some major new content, headlined by the addition of two new biomes. In terms of the game’s meta-narrative, the new biomes come from the discovery of planets with “lush, tranquil forests with winding paths and shade from massive trees”.

However, “not everything on these planets is what it seems,” and Super Earth has discovered alien forces closing in on the perimeter. Gloom-infested planets that are typically larger than Terminid Convoys have been showing “some alarming signals” that bear a striking resemblance to Bile Titan signals from other regions.

The update will be accompanied by the release of the Exo Experts Warbond, which was unveiled just last week.

Along with the new biomes, the update also brings with it a new enemy variant, “major” balance changes for the Exo Suit, and balance changes for enemies, side-arms, and Stratagems. The update has also addressed some of the game’s known issues, like defend city events not appearing to be controlled by Super Earth, and the sound made by the Enthusiastic Mirth emote not playing. For a full breakdown on everything that’s been changed, check out the patch notes below. The studio has also released a video going through the changes and additions from the update, which you can check out below.

Helldivers 2 is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Helldivers 2 – Machinery of Oppression Update 6.2.2 patch notes:

Balancing

Exo suits rebalance

Increased main health pool from 850 to 1600

The Exo suit will only die if the main healthpool is depleted. Before it could die if specific healthzones were depleted.

Increased vulnerability to acid attacks by 50%

Fixed so parts of the cockpit healthzones are not blocked by the ragdoll actor. Now the cockpit zones will be damageable in the right way.

Increased Exo suit arms health from 350 to 600

Exo suit arms now also have a 50% explosion resistance (just like the main body)

Removed constitution and bleedout on the Exo suit arms.

Exo suits no longer lose all mobility when both legs are broken.

Can now be staggered, have stagger strength 45. Stagger does not affect the ability to shoot.

Removed most health zones that do not affect the main health and are mainly visual effects. The reason is to improve performance. For example tow cables and similar items can not be damaged or destroyed anymore.

Enemy damage against vehicles

We think automatons and illuminates do damage reasonably well against the vehicles especially now with the changes to the Exo suits, the Terminids however have fallen behind a bit in their ability to deal with vehicles so we have made some buffs to their damage against durable targets.

Gas effects

Now it also slows the enemies with 25% when they are confused by the gas, the slow of course also affects you. Larger enemies like the Bile Titan and factory strider that do not become confused also are therefore not slowed.

Items changes

Sidearms weapons

CQC-30 Stun Baton

Decreased stamina cost from 5% to 3%

Increased damage from 75 to 120

Increased durable damage from 38 to 60

CQC-19 Stun Lance

Decreased stamina cost from 5% to 3%

CQC-2 Saber

Decreased stamina cost from 5% to 3%

CQC-5 Combat Hatchet

Decreased stamina cost from 5% to 4%

CQC-73 Entrenchment Tool

Decreased stamina cost from 5% to 3%

Stratagems

CQC-9 Defoliation Tool

Increased and moved damage hit box to make it easier to hit the enemy

Longer window for when damage hit box is active

Armor penetration increases twice as fast

Moves slower when it does damage to an enemy

Decreased stamina cost from 10% to 5%

CQC-1 One True Flag

Decreased stamina cost from 5% to 3%

SH-20 Ballistic Shield Backpack

Increased health from 600 to 1000

FAF-14 Spear

The EXO-51 Lumberer and EXO-55 Breakthrough join three new weapons, two new armor sets and several new cosmetics next week.

With all the new additions to Helldivers 2, it was only a matter of time before the Exosuits basked in the spotlight. Well, time to suit up, would-be pilots, as the new Exo Experts Warbond goes live on April 28th and adds two new mechs to the fray.

The first is the EXO-51 Lumberer with its anti-tank cannon and flamethrower, perfect for punching a hole through bigger foes and burning the remains. The EXO-55 Breakthrough, on the other hand, has a ballistics shield, which it can smack enemies with. Don’t worry – the flak cannon also dishes out some heavy damage.

Of course, there are also new weapons, including the disposable MGX-42 Bullet Storm machine gun and the SMG-203 Gallant, which offers more penetration at the cost of a smaller clip. If you’re in the market for a new secondary, the P-33 Missile Pistol should prove useful, especially with its (mostly) reliable lock-on.

The O-2 Heavy Operator and O-3 Free Spirit make up the two new armor sets, and include the Oxygenator perk for running, sliding and walking slightly faster than the average Helldiver. New capes, patterns, and more can also be acquired alongside a new emote, “Thumb of Approval” for when things are going great (or horribly wrong).

A new patch should also drop with Exo Experts, so stay tuned for details on balance adjustments and other changes when it goes live.

Arrowhead continues to keep up its effort to make Super Earth appealing with new Galactic War campaigns, biomes, and more.

It’s a good time to be a fan of Helldivers 2, with a recent announcement from Arrowhead Studios revealing a new content roadmap for the game.

It started with Machine of Oppression, which brought a bunch of exciting additions to the table, such as the Cyborgs and VOX Engines. The Mega Factories served as a new biome, while the Bastion Tank is a new vehicle that’s quite useful against the Cyborgs and even Illuminates if things turn out well enough.

There’s also the Siege Breakers Warbond to consider, followed by the Entrenched Division Warbond announced earlier this month. As for brand new content, the Illuminate Appropriators are next on March 20th with Update 6.1, and you can look forward to a new mission, a Galactic War campaign, and new enemy types. As for April and June, there will be a total of three new biomes, even more Galactic War campaigns, two more Warbonds, and a bunch of quality-of-life fixes coming.

That’s a lot of new content to sink our teeth into, and if you’ve been a faithful member of Super Earth’s forces from the beginning, you’re probably going to enjoy all the new opportunities to prove your loyalty. The fight for Democracy continues to be quite appealing, and we’re hoping that it continues to stay that way, even if players are still sore following the defeat in Cyberstan.
