The company suggested that Anthem may have some sort of Early Access which will allow players to try the game out early and provide feedback.

Some details about Electronic Arts’ upcoming Battlefield game and also about BioWare’s Anthem were revealed by the publisher’s Chief Executive Officer Andrew Wilson during the company’s financial conference call for the last quarter of the fiscal year.

First of all, we get to learn some details about the new Battlefield game and Wilson confirmed that the game will feature a single-player mode. He stated, “With our next Battlefield game, the team at DICE is bringing the intensity of combat alive in new and unexpected ways. Every battle is unique, and every mode brings its own challenges, from the way you interact with the environment around you, to compelling single-player stories to the next level of large-scale multiplayer that spans across multiple maps and modes.” He also went on to state the game will be building upon the success of Battlefield 1, so we can expect the game to be of a similar quality.

Following this, Wilson also went on to discuss some details about Anthem and stated that it will fundamentally be a social experience. He also stated that every aspect of the game will offer “something entirely new for our audience.” He also suggested that there may be some sort of Early Access for the game which allow players to play the game early and provide their feedback for it.

Hopefully, we’ll get to know more details at E3 next month.

DICE looking to the future?

Ever since its launch in 2016, DICE have been supporting Battlefield 1 with monthly updates and addition of new content. That, however, will be ending in June, which is when the studio will be releasing their last monthly update for the game. And that makes sense, of course. Given the fact that October of this year sees the launch of a new Battlefield game, DICE will obviously be shifting their focus to that.

“We’re continuing monthly updates for Battlefield 1 until June 2018, in which you can expect fresh content together with various tweaks and fixes for the player experience,” DICE content lead Jonas Elfving wrote in an update on the official Battlefield website. “Enjoy the road ahead and keep jumping in to Battlefield 1 regularly – you don’t want to miss what’s coming.”

As for up until June, May will see the addition of new maps to the game, while in June, 40 player single map mode Shock Operations will be added to the game. The future of the franchise in long term lies somewhere else, though- Battlefield V, as it’s been called in reports, will launch in October, and will reportedly be set during WW2, and might feature a battle royale mode. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for continued coverage.

Zombies, mutants, soldiers - there's no shortage of things to shoot in the coming years.

One thing you can be sure of in this day and age – there won’t ever be a shortage of shooting games. Be it multiplayer titles, co-op titles, Call of Duty and Battlefield, or dark fantasy, there are some pretty good shooters coming up in 2018 and beyond. Let’s take a look at 15 of them here.

Call of Duty 2018

A new Call of Duty will be releasing this year. Surprise, surprise. Given how we know Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games have had their turn, Activision would confirm that Treyarch is up next. Even more surprises! Now, the rumours that this may be Call of Duty: Black Ops 4? Even less surprising but it would be interesting to see where the franchise goes, especially given the augmented reality/mind-jacking mess that was Black Ops 3.

Randy Evans of DICE confirms the news.

It was confirmed by EA not so long ago that the next Battlefield game would be launching in October 2018, in lieu of Anthem, which has been delayed to 2019, and there have been constant rumours and reports circulating about what it may or may not be about. Apparently, we’ll be finding out soon enough.

Randy Evans of DICE recently took to Twitter and confirmed that work on the Battlefield 2018 reveal trailer is currently underway, meaning that EA should be able to show the trailer to the world soon enough, which would confirm things such as the game’s name and setting- we’re assuming. Evans has previously worked on trailers for Mirror’s Edge, Battlefield, and Battlefront.

As per recent reports, Battlefield 2018 is going to be set during World War 2- though I guess we’ll know one way or another for sure pretty soon anyway. While we wait for Battlefield 2018, DICE is continuing to support Battlefield 1 with more content (the Apocalypse DLC), and we also recently published our review for the newly released Turning Tides DLC, which you can read here.

The studio has put up a new job ad.

EA confirmed not so long ago that a new Battlefield game would indeed be launching later this year, and a lot of speculation and rumours have been surrounding the game in recent weeks. We have some more interesting information here, and considering the fact that it comes from a job listing put up by DICE themselves, it seems pretty solid too.

DICE’s LA studio is currently looking to hire a new VFX Artist, and the job ad reveals some interesting details about the upcoming Battlefield game. “We are seeking a contract VFX Artist who is eager to join us in our drive to push visual quality to the next level,” the job ad states. It then goes on the mention the responsibilities for the applicant, one of which is to create “stunning real-time visual effects”, while another is to “optimize effects for performance on multiple platforms”.

The Battlefield games have always been visual beasts, and each new instalment has looked absolutely incredible, so we expect the upcoming sequel to be equally impressive. It doesn’t come as a surprise that DICE are looking to up their game once more. Battlefield 2018 doesn’t have a release date or even an actual name yet, but we expect EA to release some concrete details soon, so stay tuned to GamingBolt and we’ll keep you updated.

As per some weapon design images...

There have been quite a few reports in recent weeks that the next Battlefield, which EA have confirmed will launch in October of 2018, will be set during the Second World War. And now there seems to be more possible evidence to suggest the same. This comes in form of an artist who has worked for DICE in the past, and some weapon design concept art they have drawn up.

One former DICE employee, Peter Olofsson Hermanrud, who now works for Bungie, posted a portfolio on ArtStation about a year ago, portraying several weapons that had nothing to do either with Battlefield 1, or its World War I setting. One such weapon was PPSh-41, which, apparently, was used quite commonly during the Second World War.

None of this is official confirmation that the next Battlefield will take place during WW2 era so take this report with a grain of salt. EA are going to reveal more proper details on Battlefield 2018 soon enough, so stay tuned to GamingBolt for continued coverage on the same.

Thanks, One Angry Gamer!

Just a few days ago, we reported on a leak that seemed to claim that DICE are currently working on a new Battlefield game, and that that game is apparently going to be Bad Company 3, a continuation of the popular sub-series within the franchise. Responsible for the leak was AlmightyDal, who in the past has been responsible for other major (and credible) Battlefield leaks as well (such as for Battlefield 1). After some countering reports that seemed to claim that this leak may not have much truth in it, though, AlmightyDal has come out with another leak that goes into greater detail about what’s in store for the future of the Battlefield franchise.

Apparently, there’s two mainline Battlefield games currently in development at DICE. Bad Company 3 is in development at DICE LA. Meanwhile, DICE’s main studio, which is at Sweden, is working on what seems to be a spiritual successor to Battlefield 1 itself. This game will take place in a World War 2 setting.

According to the leak, the WW2-themed game is the one that most of the focus seems to be on internally at EA, and this is probably going to be the next game the series puts out. The leak claims it will be out in 2018, and is going to expand on on Battlefield 1’s biggest strengths, from its atmosphere and its old-school gunplay to its maps and map sizes. The game is without a name yet, though the leak claims DICE Sweden have narrowed it down to a few final contenders.

Battlefield: Bad Company 3, meanwhile, is in development at DICE LA, as mentioned earlier, though it’s not going to be out next year. The gist of its seems to be that both games are in development simultaneously, with the WW2-themed shooter due out this year, and Bad Company 3 taking centre stage in 2019. As usual take this report with a grain of salt but you can watch the video by AlmightyDal giving you the full lowdown on the leak below.
