The Nintendo Switch has been seeing its fair share of demand. After US retailer Best Buy had restocked the console and re-opened pre-orders for the same, supplies were once again sold out.

A representative from the retailer informed GameSpot that the Switch was available for pre-ordering. However, within a short period of time, stock for the gray, neon red and neon blue versions of the console were already gone. It’s a similar story for GameStop and Amazon as well and Best Buy hasn’t revealed when more units will become available again.

The popularity of the Switch isn’t strange despite the weak line-up (which Nintendo president Tatsumi Kirishima addressed in an earnings call). It will be interesting to see the long-term success of the platform especially since it’s out on March 3rd.

Back in the days of the 8 bit NES, when Nintendo used to be synonymous with video games, they held a Nintendo World Championship, where players were invited to try and test their mettle against some NES games tweaked for extra difficulty. It was great, and also completely a thing of its time.

And now Nintendo will be bringing it back.

Bolstered, no doubt, by the success of the Smash Invitational event that they held at E3 last year, Nintendo will be holding a similar tournament this year, except now, it’s not just Smash- while we don’t know exactly which games will be included in the Nintendo World Championships, they have confirmed the time and date- it’ll be the first major event at E3, when it kicks off at June 14 in LA.

Nintendo also outlined the rest of their E3 strategy for this year- on the whole, it appears to be a repeat of the very successful way they handled E3 last year. On June 16, at 9am PT (so their usual time), they will be broadcasting their ‘Digital Event,’ same as last year. The Treehouse broadcasts that made Nintendo such a hit last year will be returning, and finally, Nintendo will be partnering up with Best Buy again to let customers play a highly anticipated upcoming title- in this case, Mario Maker.

November might have passed, but for those of you lamenting that, for whatever reason, you never got the chance to take advantage of the more aggressive promotions for Microsoft’s Xbox One during the month, never fear- it may be December, but Microsoft’s console is still getting some pretty damn good deals. That’s four (potentially) games with the console, just for $350. It’s actually an amazing deal. I mean, of course, at least two of the three games initially on offer are terrible, but still- it’s a good deal. And with another $50 to spend, you could pick up one of the good Xbox One games- such as Sunset Overdrive or Forza Horizon 2.

It’s time to put on your armor, because Black Friday is here again and people will go crazy over the deals that Best Buy is offering. Best Buy has recently revealed what they have lined up for the Black Friday deals specifically for gamers.

And as usual, they are expecting a barrage of people to come knocking down the door, come Black Friday. The yellow shop will unlock its doors on November 27th, 5PM for its and then re-opens on Friday, 8AM to continue the celebration and madness.

The price difference between the Xbox One and PS4 has been a major talking point since E3 2013. So much so in fact, that many believed – among other things – that Microsoft should offer a Kinect-less package to compete with the PS4’s price. With the launch of both consoles and their respective successes, just how far has price really mattered?

Best Buy executive Chris Koller recently spoke to GamerHub.tv during the Best Buy Madden NFL 25 Ultimate Gamer Showdown at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, and when asked how the $100 price difference has played a part thus far, he responded, “When we have an opportunity to talk to customers and really explain what you get for either console, they’re really excited for it and we haven’t seen price be an issue at all.”

As for the role that current gen systems would play in the coming years, since this is the first time that two older consoles are being supported alongside two next gen consoles, Koller stated that, “Certainly a lower price point so maybe people are getting into the gaming systems. They might want to try it with an Xbox 360 or PS3 before taking the step up into the next gen consoles. We think that will be, as well as folks who have been gamers for a long time on those systems who aren’t ready to make the step up. So we’ll support both platforms as we go in to next year and beyond.”

Boy, all that negativity around Xbox One, and people still want one. Maybe it’s because Microsoft went back on all the anti consumer stuff about the new console. Maybe it’s because of the sheer momentum the Xbox brand has at this point. Maybe it’s because they are genuinely interested in the new games coming to Xbox One.

No matter what the reason, the console has enormous demand. Best Buy has just sold out of its entire allocation of Xbox One pre-order units, just one day after Gamestop reported that it would have to close pre-orders for the PlayStation 4.

Of course, remember, pre-orders rarely ever mean anything. The Wii U sold out on its pre-orders too (so much so that Gamestop had to begin a second list of pre-orders), and look at how it’s done in the market so far. Still, it’s hard to deny that it’s some good fodder for fanboys who are priming up for the next round of the console wars, so have at it, I guess.

Nintendo is starting up the E3 2013 hype-storm by opening up their official E3 website @ e3.nintendo.com. Starting on June 11th 7 AM Nintendo will be streaming their E3 Nintendo Direct where major announcements and reveals will be happening such as the new 3D Mario, Mario Kart and of course the long-awaited brand new Super Smash Brothers.

Nintendo is not having their own conference this year at E3 and instead they’re relying on smaller but quality events such as Nintendo Direct that has been going on for quite a few months now. Nintendo is also partnering up with Best Buy to let players have access to unreleased Nintendo games that will be playable at both E3 and Best Buy. The Best Buy locations are yet to be announced so stay tuned  for further information on where you can play the new titles.

Speaking the Wall Street Journal, CEO Julie Uhrman stated that, “We want to support Ouya as best we can, both online and in physical retail, making sure there’s visibility for the product, to see content and demo the box.

“Those are all conversations we’re having with retailers. Retail partners of this size don’t just jump into business with every company that has something to sell. We’re providing something that has responded so well to gamers and developers.”

Uhrman didn’t say much about how many developers were on board but promised “inventive and creative [content] that has never been on the television. This announcement…is that we now have more than just dreamers behind us, we have established companies that do their due diligence that believe there’s an opportunity for bringing great content back to the television.”

Gears of War 3 is getting closer and closer to it’s official launch date on September 20th, or for many the night of the 19th.  At the Best Buy Theater in Time Square – NY, New York USA, there will be a huge Midnight Release Launch for the game.  There will be Gears of War 3 on gaming consoles, ‘Gamer Grub‘ food and product giveaways, inside and outside the theater.
