In Blightbound, players will take control of up to three heroes who depart their safe haven in the mountains to take on the Blight – “a mysterious and corrupting fog that enshrouds the land.” Players will be able to explore several handcrafted dungeons and acquire up to 20 unique heroes, each with their own skills, abilities, and unique stories, all of which are fully narrated.

In addition, players will also craft and collect loot and improve their mountain stronghold to better train and upgrade their characters. The game will also have three distinct areas to explore, several character classes to master, and if the game’s trailer is anything to go by, some truly gorgeous art. Blightbound will also support cross-play and local multiplayer.

Awesomenauts developer Ronimo Games has released a new trailer for its upcoming dungeon crawler Blightbound. It also revealed that the game will go live on July 29th for Steam Early Access. Check out the gameplay below in the meantime, though it is from a work-in-progress build.

Blightbound takes place in a medieval fantasy setting where a mysterious fog called Blight turns everything evil. Players are tasked with venturing into handcrafted dungeons to battle all kinds of dangers and potentially recover any new heroes to their cause. Each player takes on one of three roles to battle bosses and other foes.

There are more than 20 heroes, each with their own abilities and stories to collect, along with “hundreds” of unique items for them. As you recruit new heroes, you’ll also upgrade the mountain refuge, bringing in more artisans for crafting along with completing bounties. How much of the full game will be available in early access remains to be seen so stay tuned for more details.

Ronimo Games’ next title Blightbound has been officially revealed with Devolver Digital as its publisher. It’s an animated dungeon crawler that sees the world in danger after the Shadow Titan is defeated and unleashes the Blight. With the world corrupted by its influence, it’s up to new heroes to team up and defeat it.

Blightbound is essentially a dungeon crawler with local and online multiplayer support. The art design is rather fetching, which brings the developer’s side-scrolling MOBA Awesomenauts to mind. As you venture across dungeons, which are hand-crafted, you’ll discover new loot and eventually unlock over 20 heroes to play with.

There are three roles to choose from – Warrior, Mage and Assassin – each with their own unique abilities and hundreds of unique items to unlock. As you upgrade your mountain refuge, crafting, bounties and more facilities will become available. Blightbound will be out on Steam Early Access later this year so stay tuned for more details.
