Call of Duty: Warzone’s Verdansk map will be featuring WW2-era bunkers that should shake up the gameplay and tactics in new and interesting ways. There will also be a new Gulag, which is supposedly inspired by the original version. In addition to this, there is a new Zombies map and three new multiplayer maps in Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War. There’s also a new Halloween event, which will run from October 19th through to November 2.

Call of Duty: Vanguard will also be releasing in November this year, but the game’s open beta has left a sour taste in many a fan’s mouths.

Glen Schofield served as a co-director on many of the franchise’s entries, and goes in detail about how intensively he researched the subject material for creating the games. He argues that fans think that developing a new Call of Duty is as simple as pressing a few buttons on a machine, and a new game pops out every year.

As transcribed by VGC, Glen states, “People nowadays [think] a Call of Duty is… you know, just put it through the grinder and another one will come out. They don’t realise how much work goes into making a Call of Duty game. There’s just a ton of research.”

“You’re working with experts – I studied World War Two for three years. I worked with historians. I spent eight days in a van in Europe going to all the places that were going to be in the game. I shot different old weapons. All of these things that you have to do when you’re working on a Call of Duty game.”

“And, you know, to become an expert – we worked with Navy SEALS and Delta Force people to learn [the] tactics and techniques and get them into the game, right? You had to learn about the Special Forces from different countries like England and France and Spain and Italy and all that, because they were all in the game. So, a lot of learning, constantly reading, constantly watching videos and constantly working with experts.”

Game development isn’t an easy task, even with the massive financial backing that a publisher such as Activision provides. However, this doesn’t excuse the fact that Call of Duty is being extensively milked, as there’s always the pressure to release a new game every year. With Call of Duty: Warzone being a live-service title that requires maintenance and updates alongside the full-priced annual release, many of Activision’s subsidiaries have been reduced to support roles to keep oiling the Call of Duty machine, with the most recent example being Toys for Bob.

Players jumping in for free will have access to select Zombies and multiplayer offerings, though multiplayer playlists haven’t been confirmed yet. The newest map Rush will be included, and so will the Mauer Der Toten Zombies map. Players jumping in from Call of Duty: Warzone will have access to all acquired weapons from the game, and progress made during the free week will be transferred to Warzone automatically.

In addition to these free-to-play details, a bunch of new content is also on its way along with the mid-season Season 4 Reloaded update, which will go live shortly.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.

However, the cheat engine reportedly is still up for sale. By pulling down promotional videos for the cheat engine, Activision seems to be acknowledging the situation and will be actively working on its anti-cheat systems to take into account these kinds of cheats.

Given how naturalistic movements the cheat engine produces, its undoubtedly going to be hard to track down these cheats. Call of Duty: Warzone is already fighting an uphill battle with cheaters as it continues to ban wave after wave of them. It also doesn’t help that Warzone is free-to-play, so a ban can easily be countered by creating a new account.

Interestingly enough, this cheat engine works on consoles as well – with PlayStation and Xbox being clearly mentioned in the video. It utilizes machine-learning algorithms to shoot down targets, and the seemingly natural movements showcased by the cheat engine certainly make it hard to pinpoint for developers.

With more games going the free-to-play route, cheating is becoming even more of a prevalent issue. Activision, Epic Games, Respawn, and a bunch of others are constantly fighting an uphill battle with cheaters and hackers as they ban out players in massive numbers. With this cheat engine being available on consoles as well, it seems the situation could get dire before it improves anytime soon.

Developer Treyarch Studios revealed plans for a fresh round of weapon rebalancing on Twitter today. The tweaks, which Treyarch said would be detailed in next week’s update, will include adjustments for all assault rifles, pistols, LMGs, and sniper rifles. Treyarch also announced a separate blog coming soon that would detail what they have planned for the game’s Zombies mode.

The announcement followed the release of Black Ops Cold War’s new Moshpit mode, which adds 12 on 12 gameplay to several game types, including TDM, Domination, Kill Confirmed and Hardpoint. The update It doubles the player count on several 6v6 maps such as Nuketown ‘84, Raid, Yamantau, Diesel, Apocalypse and Miami Strike. It released on Thursday.
