Infinity Ward is seemingly teasing something, but it's not a sequel to Call of Duty: Ghosts, according to reports.

It’s not strange to see developers tease fans about their games due out in the coming year. With Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch releasing Call of Duty: WW2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 in past years, it’s now Infinity Ward’s turn to take the reins of the franchise again. Senior communications manager Ashton Williams recently tweeted a GIF of a skull and some static, teasing the same.

Call of Duty: Ghosts 2? It would have seemed possible, given the cliff-hanger nature of the first game’s ending. However, according to Kotaku’s Jason Schreier on ResetEra, it isn’t a sequel to Call of Duty: Ghosts. Maybe something related to Modern Warfare 2, especially considering the character Ghost first appeared in that title? Perhaps a remaster, in vein of the one for the original Modern Warfare might be in the works?

It’s hard to say at this point, but the tease could certainly mean something. After all, Infinity Ward began 2016 with an image of an astronaut in space. Months later, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was announced (and famously disliked on YouTube). What could the developer have up its sleeve? Stay tuned for more information.

Some endings were quite good this generation but others? Not so much.

An ending can make or break a story. In video games, it’s slightly more complicated as you still have the gameplay experience, characters and graphics to look back fondly on. However, there are some games where the ending is so dismal, so painfully bad, that you can’t help but think “Why”? We’re going to look at 14 titles available on the Xbox One or PS4 or both with such endings. Remember – everything is subjective. Maybe you disagree. Let us know your thoughts in the comments as always. Also, spoilers inbound.

Quantum Break

Many stories that deal with time travel tend to become their own convoluted messes of paradoxes and twists. Quantum Break kind of suffered from this but still managed to maintain its thrills. Then we got to the ending where sympathetic antagonist Paul Serene was blamed for everything and Jack was asked to join Monarch. The hilarious part is that Jack actually sees two paths, much like how Paul did before making decisions. Then the game ends before we see his choice. And no, this won’t be the last cliff-hangar ending on this list.

Set in "very far future" and is "full on sci-fi".

Infinity Ward hasn’t done much to reveal its next Call of Duty title aside from confirming some kind of presentation at Sony’s E3 presser but clues have been emerging. Rumours indicated that it could be Call of Duty: Ghosts 2 but industry insider Shinobi602 had other thoughts on the same.

Speaking on NeoGAF, the man revealed that the next Call of Duty would be set in the far future. When asked if it was similar to Battlefield 2142, the reply was, “Very far future. Space combat. Full on sci-fi.”

The report was confirmed independently by Eurogamer when it revealed that the space combat would take place between “warring sci-fi groups.”

That doesn’t exactly get us too excited but hey, it’s not Ghosts. So there is that.

What are your thoughts on Call of Duty 2016 being set in the far future and having space combat? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned for more.

Kill! Kill! Kill!

With Call of Duty Advanced Warfare released, players and fan boys are going crazy over the new gameplay changes Sledgehammer Games made to our beloved but milked franchise. Over the past few years we have all witnessed some pretty crazy multiplayer action, where different players would perform some insane kill streaks; and of course there is nothing more fulfilling in a Call of Duty match than achieving some awesome kill streaks and then going to work on your opponents. As you would expect, as the Call of Duty series continues to grow and evolve so will the kill streaks. And you can bet your bottom there are tons of more lethal kill streaks to come in the future. With that said, here are some of the top Call of Duty Kill Streaks of all time.

For more exciting features and lists, please click here. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more news and updates.

Note: List is in random order

Warbird

The Warbird is probably the most valuable ally you could have in the battlefield. I mean think about it, the Warbird scouts around for potential target and when found, it takes them out with extreme efficiency. The Warbird remotely controlled has the ability to perform an aerial attack vehicle with an awesome minigun. Moreover, you can retrofit your Warbird by adding rockets to it. And if you don’t want the hassle of controlling the warbird manually, you have the option of making it AI controlled so that it will automatically engage enemies around the map.

This would make sense, of course.

Although it seems like a highly unlikely pairing, Call of Duty has always been very closely associated to Nintendo, being one of the major third party franchises that always put out a Nintendo version. Every single Call of Duty game from last generation was on the Wii outside of Modern Warfare 2, and Call of Duty 4 through Modern Warfare 3 all got accompanying versions on the Nintendo DS. Activision was also right there at the Wii U’s launch, bringing out Black Ops 2 on Nintendo’s then new console, and then also Ghosts the following year.

But last year, Advanced Warfare skipped out on a Wii U version, bringing many to the conclusion that the franchise’s historic support of Nintendo might be coming to an end. Well… it might not be, after all. You see, on the Call of Duty website, which updated yesterday to accommodate the Black Ops 3 tease, a new option has shown up- an option to link up your Nintendo Network account, hinting that Black Ops 3 might be releasing on Wii U or 3DS this year.

There is precedence to suggest this, too. Black Ops 3 is a Treyarch game, and Treyarch has always ensured a version of its game will be on Nintendo (the studio is historically fanatical about Nintendo)- as a matter of fact, Treyarch has also handled the Nintendo versions of Call of Duty games from other studios, such as Infinity Ward. So that, coupled with the new Nintendo Network link options that have appeared on the website (spotted by catmario on NeoGAF), suggest that Call of Duty may be returning to Nintendo this year after an off year.

Right now, we know nothing, of course. No platforms have been announced yet. But we will keep you posted, when Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is officially revealed later this month.

In honor of Halloween, Activision has confirmed that it will be offering double XP in all relevant online multiplayer modes of Call of Duty: Ghosts, as well as Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Because somehow, shooting up the enemies of America in fictionalized, unrealistic wargame scenarios is all that Halloween is about. Or something.

The Double XP period begins today, and will continue on through to the end of this week on Friday, October 31. This double XP weekend is probably Activision’s last attempt to garner some interest and multiplayer traffic in these two games, which are both substantially less popular than Call of Duty games were at their peak, before Activision releases Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare in November, which they are turning to to reverse the trend of the series’ slump in recent years.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is available on PC, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U; Call of Duty: Ghosts was made available for PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, and Wii U. Advanced Warfare will be coming to all the same platforms Ghosts was available on, except for Wii U.

That's... not a good first sign.

Call of Duty may have started out as a PC exclusive series (really), but it’s never been associated with PC gaming since it first found success on the Xbox 360. It’s been mostly considered to be a console series since then (and Infinity Ward’s constant effort to alienate PC game players more and more with every entry hasn’t helped). In fact, in this day and age, Call of Duty is largely irrelevant to the larger PC gaming landscape.

Still, there’s a dedicated fanbase that loves playing the games on their rigs, and maybe they are expecting to be treated better with the upcoming, pretty awesome looking Advanced Warfare than they were with the (Infinity Ward developed. Sigh) Ghosts with this game. For context, Ghosts had a bunch of unreasonably high requirements to run on your PC, and then ran like complete turd, since it was so optimized.

At first glance, Advanced Warfare doesn’t look to be that much better.

OS: Windows 7 64-Bit / Windows 8 64-Bit / Windows 8.1 64-Bit
Processor: Intel Core i5-2500K @ 3.30GHz
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 760 @ 4GB
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 55 GB available space
Sound Card: 100% DirectX 9.0c Compatible 16-bit
Additional Notes: Field of View ranges from 65°-90°.

In fact, the minimum requirements still mandate that controversial 6GB RAM requirement that led to such an outcry against the PC version of Ghosts last year. I guess we can hope that the game will be better optimized.

And now the end is near…

It’s a real shame that the final DLC for Call of Duty Ghosts wasn’t one of the first packs released; Infinity Ward has definitely saved the best ‘til last and sadly it probably won’t get the playtime it deserves given that Advanced Warfighter is coming out soon. Of all the DLC released over the course of the year, Nemesis is definitely the most fun, most varied and the best looking.

Once again, there are four action-packed maps on offer and the conclusion to the episodic alien-based story, Extinction. As ever, there’s a healthy dose of frenetic close-quarter firefights on offer, set amongst various picturesque environments.

"Of all the maps, Goldrush is definitely my pick of the bunch, set in a deserted mine spread over several levels. There’s a nice blend of open playspace as well as a smattering of winding corridors and blind turns, perfect for catching opponents offguard."

Of all the maps, Goldrush is definitely my pick of the bunch, set in a deserted mine spread over several levels. There’s a nice blend of open playspace as well as a smattering of winding corridors and blind turns, perfect for catching opponents offguard. It’s good looking too. Most players will no doubt make a beeline for one of the vacant mine carts, leap in and take pot-shots at nearby enemies as you rumble along the tracks. Their inclusion adds a whole new dimension to the play area; not only are they useful for getting about the place quickly but they provide decent protection and can run over people too. Then there’s the huge lift, which raises and lowers, adding another interesting dimension to the proceedings. Oh, and watch out for the wolves!

Showtime is a small map with plenty going on and no time to hang round or camp. Based on the Shipment map in Call of Duty 4, this is an absolute fragfest that’s like something out of The Running Man. Styled like a gameshow, it’s fast, exciting and deadly – reminding me a little of the Terror Is Reality show that features Chuck Greene in Dead Rising 2!

Perfect for close quarters combat, this map is small with limited cover; there’s nowhere to hide and you’re pretty much guaranteed to come face to face with an enemy at each and every turn. It’s virtually guaranteed that the kills will stack up in no time – which has its good and bad points. Sure, it’s exciting but you never really feel like you get a proper handle on the map – it’s kind of too busy with almost constant respawns.

"The Chinese village setting of Dynasty is an altogether more sedate option and undoubtedly one of the most picturesque of this or any of the previous DLC offerings… in many ways though it feels a little similar to some of the other maps we’ve seen over the past few months."

The Chinese village setting of Dynasty is an altogether more sedate option and undoubtedly one of the most picturesque of this or any of the previous DLC offerings… in many ways though it feels a little similar to some of the other maps we’ve seen over the past few months – with plenty of twisting paths and buildings like those in the recent Mexican Day of the Dead-themed Departed, or the Brazilian Favela maps – but that’s no bad thing. It’s a good-sized map and you never feel like you’re on top of other players or about to get blown away all the time. It’s nicely spread out and even with maximum players, it never feels too crowded. Just don’t spend too long gawping at the scenery.

The final map, Subzero, sees the carnage takes place in a Canadian submarine base, which provides an equally big playspace to rack up the kills. Visually, it’s certainly good looking with snowflakes and gusts of chilled air complementing the bleak landscape. There are loads of routes to take, both inside the deserted research buildings and out in the wilderness. I wouldn’t hang around outside too long though… opponents getting the field order unleash one hell of a storm, which frosts up your screen and sees you savaged by a weird red-eyed snow beast!

"Nemesis concludes the glut of DLC that has hit our screens this past year and overall, it’s been a pretty good offering."

And last but not least is the final episode of the Extinction saga – Exodus – where you once again get to take on aliens – Ghosts’ zombie equivalent – in a bid to save the world! You’ll get to face off against the fabled Ancestors and all those other alien critters as you try to ensure the safe passage of survivors away from the infestation. No spoilers here but suffice to say, it’s a strong conclusion to the series and the perfect remedy for those not simply wanting a quick fix with the multiplayer maps.

Phew. So that’s it. Nemesis concludes the glut of DLC that has hit our screens this past year and overall, it’s been a pretty good offering. In my mind, however, the latest pack is the best of the bunch. Well worth getting and a worthy send off to Ghosts!

Comes with Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Call of Duty: Ghosts free.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-180224" src="https://gamingbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/91.-Xbox-360-Kinect.jpg" alt="91.
Microsoft will finally be launching a 500 GB variant of their Xbox 360 console next month (only about a year after the launch of its successor!); retailing for $250, Microsoft is making sure that this will be the SKU that people pick up, as it will come with two free Call of Duty games- Treyarch’s 2012 sequel, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, and Infinity Ward’s disappointing entry from last year that kicked off the new gen for Call of Duty somewhat inauspiciously, Call of Duty: Ghosts.

The console and controller in this bundle will also be blue, which is a little odd, but you know what, for that kind of value at that kind of price, I’ll take it!

Also available at some time in the future will be a 500GB hard drive sold separately for the Xbox 360. It is probably not unreasonable to expect that it will go on sale at roughly around the same time as this console does, but we don’t have any official confirmation yet.

PS3, PS4 and PC will finally receive the last DLC pack.

After releasing recently for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 since early August, the Nemesis DLC for Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Ghosts will be heading to the PC and PlayStation platforms in the first week of September. North American users will be seeing the DLC on September 2nd while European players receive it on September 4th.

The Nemesis DLC is the final map and content pack for the first person shooter. It adds four new maps, namely Goldrush, Subzero, Dynasty and Showtime. The Extinction campaign also receives its final episode that sees you trying to protect citizens and fend off the alien threat once and for all.

The next game in the series will be Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, developed by Sledgehammer Games, and it will be out this November. It will mark the first Call of Duty game to be developed with the PS4 and Xbox One in mind (though previous gen versions are in development at High Moon Studios).
