After giving us a look at Beatrix’s special brand of destructive melee combat, the upcoming expansion now turns our attention to Eustace, who prefers to keep his enemies at a distance with some incredibly cool ranged attacks that make good use of raw damage and AoE traps to keep his enemies guessing. He’s clearly going to be a valuable asset against Beelzebub and all of the new enemies that the game is bringing your way.

If you somehow missed this one, the upcoming expansion to the impressive fantasy RPG is bringing a whole lot of new additions to the table. There are two more new characters for it to show off ahead of its July 9, 2026, release alongside new game modes, bosses, a new Primal Burst mechanic, and an interesting option for those of you who prefer to play solo to test your limits.

That’s a lot of fun to be had in a game where the base version was already quite entertaining. The trailer below is going to be a lovely dose of copium for those of you who share our impatience for its release.

While Beelzebub and a host of new threats have risen to create problems for our favorite characters, they are joined by new characters with unique abilities to help them take on the serious threats they’re about to face.

The showcase puts Beatrix front and center, and she relishes the spotlight, displaying her ability to absolutely devastate enemy frontlines with her attacks while remaining charismatic with her fearless attitude throughout. She’s joined by Lyria, who brings her expertise with primal creatures to the table, unlocking summons that you get to control on the battlefield.

While cross-platform play is being added to the mix, solo players can dive into the Conflux, a new single-player mode that thrusts you into dangerous, randomized maps that are sure to push your skills to the limit. Survive, however, and you’ll be handsomely rewarded.

All in all, it’s looking like Endless Ragnarok is going to give Granblue fans a lot of reasons to return to the Zegagrande Skydom. Good luck trying to leave with all of the new activities on offer, when it launches on July 9th for PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Following the events of the base game, Gran/Djeeta and friends must now deal with “ragnalia” emerging in the Zegagrande Skydom along with the ever-annoying Beelzebub. Fortunately, they’ve got some backup with Beatrix, Eustace, Maglielle and Gallanza, and a new system allows for calling forth summons, which can be temporarily controlled (leading to a new Primal Burst attack).

Players can also look forward to new bosses, additional quest tiers, Master Traits for characters, and The Conflux, a solo activity with “unpredictable challenges” and “enigmatic powers.” Cross-play will also be enabled across all platforms.

Those who currently own the base game can purchase the Upgrade Kit to access Endless Ragnarok. There’s also the Downloadable Content Collection, which includes all previously released DLC.

As a standalone story, Relink follows Gran/Djeeta and Lyria, who run afoul of the followers of Avia. After they kidnap Lyria, it’s a quest to retrieve her, as players face core members like Id and eventually Lilith, their leader. While other classic characters, Katalina, Eugen, Rosetta and Rackam, are along for the ride, players can also recruit Narmaya, Cagliostro, Vaseraga, and much more to their side.

Check out our review for the base game here. Developer Cygames Osaka has added more playable characters since launch, including Seofon, Tweyen, and Sandalphon. You can also challenge the big bad, Lucilius, in an Ultimate Showdown quest.

Though post-launch support has more or less wrapped, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising continues to receive new fighters. Three more are en route in Character Pass 2 – Wilnas, Meg, and Ilsa – so stay tuned for more updates.

Those who want immediate access to Sandalphon can also purchase his Character Expansion Set for $4.99. Other new content with the update includes new Sigils with new Traits and three new side quests unlocking after “Chapter Ø Skybound Heart”. You can also use the new Sigil Synthesis to combine Legendary Sigils.

Photo Mode also unlocks in Chapter 1, while a new map overlay becomes available from the Prologue. If that wasn’t enough, quality-of-life features allow for locking Sigils and Wrightstones and checking the details for Traits directly from the details section of a weapon, Sigil and Wrightstone.

During the recent showcase, the development team highlighted his play style. Like Id, Sandalphon has a meter built up through attack and unleashing abilities. Once it’s filled, he can transform into an enhanced state, gaining stronger versions of his skills for even more damage.

Unlocking him requires a different method than the Immortals, so don’t count on hoarding treasure from the new quests and redeeming it for new Crewmate Cards when he’s live. New Sigils, side quests and Proud-difficulty quests will also become available in Version 1.3.0, and there will be features like combining Sigils to customize traits and new control schemes. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink is available now for PS4, PS5 and PC, having sold over one million copies in just 11 days.

The two new quests are “Gulp… So These Are the Rumored Monsters”, unlocked when Extreme difficulty quests become available, and “Lock Horns,” playable after finishing “The Tale of Bahamut’s Rage.” They’ll provide treasure, which can be exchanged for unique Crewmate Cards to unlock Seofon and Tweyen.

Players can skip the grind by purchasing Character Expansion Sets for each, which include Unique Sigils, Supreme Weapon Essences and other materials. Sigils with new traits have also been added, and players can now roll for up to 30 Sigil Transmutations at a time.

Battle

General

• Environmental factors such as strong winds and ground tremors should no longer interrupt players that have an active Stout Heart effect. This also applies to non-Stout Heart effects that prevent interrupts from foe attacks.
• Increased the radius of stun damage dealt to foes upon a successful perfect guard.
• Improved the visibility of visual indicators for successful perfect guards performed by party members.
• Improved the visibility of damage numbers that have hit their damage cap.
• When Battle Camera Correction is set to Off, the camera should no longer automatically point toward the originator of a chain burst.
• Fixed a bug where the Tyranny trait effect wasn’t properly applying to Skybound Arts.
• Fixed a bug where the “Boosts the amount of link level gained” effect granted by the Linked Together trait wasn’t properly applying to Skybound Arts.
• Fixed an intermittent bug where Eugen’s sticky grenade attacks failed to fill his SBA gauge.
• Party members with a skill that can revive will no longer automatically cast that skill on a player who enters critical condition and has the Autorevive status effect.
• Fixed a bug that, under certain conditions, caused the player to continuously guard despite only pressing the guard button once.

As showcased in a prior stream, Seofon fights with dual blades, utilizing spirit sword summons to attack alongside him. Tweyen specializes in archery, firing charged shots and arrows that split into multiple projectiles. Both possess some truly powerful Skybound Arts befitting their status and power.

Version 1.2.0 will also add some new features and “character adjustments.” If Seofon and Tweyen end up as the new meta characters, it should be interesting to see who receives potential buffs and/or nerfs with the next update. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

The quest involves battling Lucilius, the most challenging boss in the game, so having to grind it less for materials is a welcome change. A bug that caused Ferry’s Link Attacks to not count towards the side goal, “Perform at least X Link Attacks”, is also fixed. Another bug with the PC version, which caused it to pause if the window was no longer active, has also been fixed.

Seofon is a swordfighter who wields dual blades. Other techniques include summoning magical swords to attack foes and even a spirit sword summon that syncs with his attacks. His Skybound Art involves summoning multiple spirit swords to attack an opponent, ending with a giant cleave.

Tweyen is an archer who can dash and hover across the battlefield, unleashing charged arrow and split arrow shots for immense damage. Some of her skills include releasing a bunch of ricocheting arrows that inflict multitudes of status effects on enemies, while her Skybound Art calls down a hail of arrows before one big shot.

If it weren’t obvious, both characters are pretty overpowered. They’ll arrive alongside new quests and character adjustments in late April. A new showcase stream is set for April 25th at 3 AM PT, so perhaps we’ll learn more about their kits and see them released shortly after.
