PlayStation accidentally uploaded the announcement trailer of an unannounced Destroy All Humans! 2 remake.

Given how well the Destroy All Humans! sold, and the fact that THQ Nordic had hinted at it a couple of times (not to mention other reports suggesting the same), it felt like a bit of a given that there would be a follow-up, most likely a remake of the next game in the series. That, it seems, is going to be announced very soon.

PlayStation’s official Twitter account recently ended up uploading the full announcement trailer for a remake of the second game in the series, called Destroy All Humans! 2 Reprobed, complete with plenty of gameplay footage and everything. No release date is mentioned, but it’s looking like it’ll follow in the footsteps of the 2020 game in terms of sticking to the source material while significantly upgrading the visuals. Check it out below, courtesy of @IdleSloth84 on Twitter.

THQ Nordic does have a showcase coming up in a couple of days, on September 17, where it plans on announcing at least six new games. It’s likely that there’s where we’ll see the official announcement of the Destroy All Humans! 2 remake.

From obvious treks in galaxy-spanning adventures to unlikely visits in a racing sim, these are video game moon visits that still stand out in our memory.

Humankind has been enamoured by the moon for as long as anyone can remember, and that’s affected our entertainment as well. Games, of course, haven’t been immune to that obsession. More than a few times, games have taken giant leaps and taken us right to the lunar surface, and here, we’re going to talk about a few of them that did exactly that.

NOTE: This feature contains spoilers for every game that is mentioned. If we begin talking about a game you don’t want spoiled, skip ahead to the next entry.

WOLFENSTEIN: THE NEW ORDER

Wolfenstein as a series has never been afraid of flights of fantasy, and The New Order, in typical Wolf fashion, has plenty of that going on as well. To secure lunar launch codes, BJ infiltrates a Nazi base on the moon, killing Nazis, destroying drones, and even donning a spacesuit and walking on the moon’s surface. It’s one of the game’s best missions that serves to exemplify how far-flung the series can get with its stories (in a good way).

Black Forest Games and THQ Nordic seem to be at work on another Destroy All Humans! remake.

Last year’s Destroy All Humans! remake may not have blown anyone out of the water, but then again, it didn’t need to. It was, in fact, a game that did exactly what it needed to do, delivering a pure dumb fun experience that stuck closely to the goofy and gleefully immature tone of the original game it was based on. Given how successfully Black Forest Games pulled it off, and the fact that it apparently sold much better than publisher THQ Nordic was expecting, many have assumed that more remakes in the series are inevitable. And though nothing official has been announced yet, evidence suggesting that another one of those is in development seems to have emerged.

As pointed out on Twitter by @DahTribute, there’s very clear evidence of a Destroy All Humans! 2 remake on the German website for the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (via Pure Xbox), who have been supplying funding to video game projects. One game that they’re funding is a project at Black Forest Games being called Project Cattleprod 2.

If that name in and of itself isn’t a dead giveaway of what the game is (which it is), the descriptive text for the project on the page calls the game “an action adventure game in an open world” in which players “use various weapons and psi powers to fight opponents or to influence them for their own purposes.” The game’s story is described as “humorous and over-the-top”, and apparently has “references to contemporary pop culture and satirical social criticism.” Finally, the page also states that the game has “elaborately staged destruction of buildings”, which apparently are “an essential part of the fun.” A piece of concept art has also been shared, which you can see in the tweet below.

All of that, of course, sounds exactly like Destroy All Humans! It’s also worth noting that a post-launch accolades trailer for last year’s remake seemingly teased at another upcoming remake. Read more on that through here.

Meanwhile, the first Destroy All Humans! remake is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia, and will be releasing for the Nintendo Switch on June 29.
