This new series of updates is a great way to keep us in the loop about what’s coming to our favorite shooter, including upcoming changes.

Battlefield 6 has just dropped the first in a new series of updates about what’s cooking in the studio, and what to expect as it attempts to refine the gameplay loop to make the shooter the best possible version of an already solid title.

EA’s best-seller of last year is continuing to evolve, and this new peek at all the changes it’s bringing to the table is all about your guns and the way you’re encouraged to use them. Beginning with a more refined recoil system geared towards making weapons feel as close to the real thing as possible, there are also changes to how each weapon feels in your hands that could make choosing between them a real challenge. There are adjustments to your time-to-kill, with different body parts on your enemies getting either a buff or a nerf to the damage you’re able to do.

Taking on enemies at range or up close is going to give you varying results, making the entire loop feel like you’re right in the middle of the action, which is quite a good thing for a game designed around placing you in intense combat situations. All in all, this one’s a promising start to a new chapter of Battlefield 6, and we can’t wait for these changes to hit the game after they spend a while in testing.

Field Orders, Contracts- call it what you want. But that’s not the only thing coming with an update that has a lot to fix.

Season 3 of Battlefield 6 has seen a busy few months for the popular shooter. There was that memorable trailer to kick things off a while ago, while Blastpoint brought back Obliteration to the game, aside from new maps and new ways to experience the chaos of a battlefield.

Well, things are about to get a tad more exciting, especially if you’re a Call of Duty: Ghosts player (as rare as those may be). If Field Orders sound familiar to you, the new High-Value Target update is bringing that back, although it’s being called Contracts in this one. You basically pick up a mid-mission objective off a dead enemy, the completion of which awards you with currently undisclosed rewards. They’re part of the Wet Work event, and will be available on both the traditional multiplayer modes and the free-to-play RedSec.

Aside from that, the new update will address various issues, add a new menu that will make tracking event-based objectives and rewards a whole lot easier, and provide changes to gunplay and vehicles. For the former, there will be tweaks to recoil, handling, bullet dispersion, limb damage, and bullet velocity and drag. As for the latter, Thermal Smoke isn’t going to counter C4 anymore, while your RPGs are going to be a lot more potent against tanks and helicopters. The automated AA when you spawn in isn’t going to be as useful as it’s been up until now, too.

Well, that’s quite the list, and we can’t wait to see how this one pans out once it drops on June 30, 2026.

It’s nearly time to dive into Cairo Bazaar’s narrow alleys and breakable walls, while Obliteration gives you a new take on an iconic mode.

Battlefield 6’s mid-season is gearing up for some exciting new additions, and there’s a new trailer to give us a rundown of what to look forward to.

There’s the Cairo Bazaar map, which is an evolution of the Grand Bazaar from past titles, for starters. You’re going to want to cover every possible direction you can manage to, as its narrow streets and breakable walls make it a great place to set up an ambush. We’d like to turn the tables and set up one of our own, but this is a map where the best-laid plans go to fail, and improvisation in the face of chaos looks like a viable strategy.

There’s also Tactical Obliteration, a new competitive mode in which you’re going to have to pick up bombs to lob at enemy M-COMS whilst avoiding all the bullets that they’re raining down on you. It looks like a lot of fun, and is probably a great place to try out new weapons like the PP-19 SMG and the Handheld Jammer, both of which are coming to REDSEC as part of the Explosive Charge Bonus Path.

We can’t wait to dive in when this one drops on June 9, 2026, and we’re almost certain we’re going to see you on the field at some point. May the best warriors win!

Golmud and the three new weapons might be the biggest attractions, but there's a lot more to know about Season 3's first phase.

After much anticipation, Season 3 for Battlefield 6 is now available, or at least the first phase is. Alongside the arrival of a fan-favorite map from Battlefield 4, it brings three new weapons – the M16A4, the L115, and the RPK-74M. Check out the intro cinematic below.

But that’s not all to expect in Warlords: Supremacy, which marks the beginning of the season’s roadmap. The Railway to Golmud is a giant addition, and is an open battlefield in which you’re going to want to watch out for attacks from above as well as around you, as you battle for control of the titular railway against PAX Armata opponents.

There’s also Ranked Battle Royale in RedSec if you’re looking to indulge your competitive streak, and know that you’re helping to refine this one as a part of BF Live Labs. You’re going to be quite busy staying alive and taking the fight to the other teams with this one. Of course, there’s also the Season 3 battle pass with over 100 tiers of unlocks. Those who join Battlefield Pro can benefit from 25 Tier Skips, an XP Booster, Special Assignments, and much more.

Check all of it out here. Battlefield 6 is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, and beyond the current season, there’s even more to look forward to this year, including naval combat and the return of Wake Island.

Those pesky PAX Warlords are at it again, and every one of NATO's operatives must bring their best to the fight and secure victory.

With Season 3 of Battlefield 6 inching ever closer to its release, now is probably the best time for the team to tell us more about what to expect over the next few months.

Things kick off on May 12th when Warlords: Supremacy adds the new Railway to Gormud map alongside some brilliant and devastating weapons like the M164A assault rifle, RPK-74M light-machine gun, and L115 sniper rifle. There’s also Ranked Battle Royale to look forward to, and hints of special rewards for those of you who manage to dominate your leaderboards.

Next up is Brace for Blastpoint on July 9th, taking us to Cairo Bazaar, where an elite PAX unit lies waiting in ambush in cramped streets, alleyways, and around corners. Obliteration is being added to the game, bringing a desperate cooperative effort to plant explosives on enemy territory while living to tell the tale.

Finally, Tactical Obliteration caps off the season on June 30th, bringing Casual Battle Royal to REDSEC, alongside a new contract-based activity, Wet Work, that we’re pretty excited about.

That’s a lot of cool-looking stuff coming to EA’s best-seller of the fiscal year, and it works well with that gameplay trailer from a few days ago to make us very glad it’s only three days away. As always, stay tuned for further updates when it drops.

Despite layoffs, mixed reactions to updates, criticism against its maps, and more, the first-person shooter continues to sell.

Season 3 for Battlefield 6 kicks off on May 12th, but before that, Electronic Arts has reminded everyone how much of a success the first-person shooter has been. In its fourth quarter and full-year fiscal year results, the publisher announced a record $8.026 billion in net bookings, up nine percent year-over-year.

Battlefield 6, in particular, was a highlight and touted as the “best performing Battlefield in a fiscal year, setting numerous franchise fiscal year records.” EA Sports FC 26, FC Online and FC Mobile also saw net bookings increase by “mid-single-digits” while Apex Legends saw its “strongest net bookings quarter of the fiscal year in Q4.”

Regarding the results, EA CEO Andrew Wilson said, “Driven by our talented teams and disciplined execution, we delivered a record FY26, highlighted by the incredibly successful launch of our iconic Battlefield franchise. With the recent completion of a debt process that was met with strong investor demand and our ongoing constructive engagement with regulators, we look ahead to closing the transaction and the opportunities it will unlock.”

It’s all good news for Electronic Arts, whose acquisition by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), Silver Lake and Affinity Partners closed early this year for $55 billion. However, Battlefield 6 hasn’t exactly received the warmest reception post-launch, suffering from numerous bugs and other issues, including lackluster map sizes and heavy monetization. Of course, layoffs at Battlefield Studios also didn’t help and look especially egregious considering EA’s record results.

Season 3 aims to address some of those concerns with Railway to Golmud, based on Battlefield 4’s beloved map. Other much-requested features like naval combat (punctuated by the return of Wake Island) in July and a server browser are also in the works, so stay tuned for updates.

The chaos is real, and the creativity you’re able to display in the new maps could make things interesting when Season 3 launches.

Right after pre-orders opened on its Battle Pass, a new gameplay trailer has now dropped on Battlefield 6‘s Season 3, and it’s a doozy.

It shows off some pretty potent new weapons, including a fancy sniper rifle alongside an LMG that looks absolutely devastating, standing out as highlights. Of course, the two new maps are at the center of it all, and we’re blown away by how they stand poised to give us new ways to engage in outright chaos. We saw a tank assaulting enemy forces from up above a railway track, only for a clever sapper to bring it down with a well-placed explosive. His teammates could have positioned themselves better, though. That was the Railway to Golmud, where open spaces can still hide a lot of ways for you to meet an abrupt death.

In Cairo Bazaar, that potential for a sudden end becomes more pronounced courtesy of its cramped paths and potential threats lurking around every corner. It’s the perfect place to set up an ambush or two, but also one where you could be the prey even as you feel like a hunter.

RedSec players also have plenty to look forward to with the Ranked Battle Royale mode for Quads. Head here for more details ahead of Season 3’s launch on May 12th.

The magic of a story set in a galaxy far, far away never seems to fade away, and Circana analyst Mat Piscatella shared an interesting fact about Star Wars: Battlefront (2015) to celebrate May 4th, a date that’s now universally associated with the franchise.

It seems that Star Wars continues to hold sway among gamers, ranking 7th in its earnings overall, with Battlefront being the best-selling title in the entire Star Wars franchise. Of course, there have been other heavy hitters adding to its allure over the years, and we’ve Star Wars: Galactic Racer already up for pre-orders ahead of its upcoming release.

While we found the original release of Battlefront quite good, if a tad flawed, it has since risen to fame among fans and players alike. But if you’re a Star Wars fan, you’re likely to have enjoyed Star Wars: Battlefront 2, which had a much worse start but became absolutely beloved among fans.

As for the franchise’s future, we’d have loved some news about Star Wars: Eclipse, but it looks like the long wait for more information continues, with no end in sight, and a lot of external factors that have its fate hanging in the balance. We’re not holding our breath for that one, but it’s nice to know that Battlefront is getting its due more than a decade after its release.

Two versions of the battle pass can be pre-ordered a standard one for $9.99, and a Battlefield Pro package that includes extra goodies.

With Battlefield 6 and REDSEC getting close to the May 12th release date of their third season, players have discovered that EA has kicked off pre-orders for the new battle pass. As caught by a Reddit user, two distinct versions of the Battlefield 6 Season 3 battle pass are available for pre-order—a standard version, and the Battlefield Pro package, which includes a few extras like tier skips and exclusive cosmetics.

The standard battle pass is available for roughly $9.99, while pre-ordering Battlefield Pro will cost $24.99. The decision to make the battle pass available for pre-order so far ahead of the season launch has divided players, with many in the Reddit thread noting that this opens the door for unlocking new weapons and gear much earlier than for those who just wait for the season to kick off.

While some players seem to be fine with it, noting that many players were likely going to buy the new battle pass anyway, others have noted that this is essentially “blind buying”, since the contents of the battle pass haven’t yet been revealed. Reddit users have also brought up competing shooters like Call of Duty that, despite heavy monetization, don’t yet offer battle pass pre-orders. In contrast, Apex Legends allows players to pre-order new seasonal battle passes regularly.

Season 3 of Battlefield 6 and REDSEC will bring in a host of new content to both the regular multiplayer and the free-to-play battle royale. Fans of multiplayer can look forward to the Railway to Golmud map—a remake of Battlefield 4‘s classic Golmud Railway, which Battlefield Studios has described as the biggest map in the game so far, measuring at around four times the size of Mirak Valley.

The developers revealed a few of their design decisions for the remade map in a recent community post, where they also confirmed that the moving train on the map has been equipped with another engine that would also allow it to go the other way.

“We have better technology than we did 13 years ago,” level designer Luka Grepl-Malmgren said. “Two of the original level artists of Golmud Railway are still here at DICE, so we all worked together to not only recreate their work, but also understand what was not possible in Battlefield 4 and bring those ideas to life in Battlefield 6.”

In a more recent community update, Battlefield Studios has also confirmed that it is continuing to evaluate weapon behavior and time-to-kill to improve the consistency and gameplay depth offered by each weapon. Recoil will also receive adjustments over time, making the performance differences between weapons easier to understand.

Battlefield 6 and REDSEC are available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. For more details about what kind of content Battlefield Studios has planned for the shooter throughout the year, check out its roadmap, which has revealed that Battlefield 3‘s Grand Bazaar map is also being remade as Cairo Bazaar.

Headlining the update for the multiplayer shooter will be the Railway to Golmud map, while REDSEC players can look forward to ranked mode.

As Battlefield Studios gets ready for Battlefield 6 Season 3, the developers have explained all of the new content that will be coming to the shooter and its free-to-play battle royale mode, REDSEC, through a community update. Season 3 content will be arriving to Battlefield 6 and REDSEC on May 12th.

Headlining the update will be a remake of classic Battlefield 4 map Golmud Railway. Dubbed Railway to Golmud, the map will feature extensive refinements over its original iteration, including an additional engine for the train. Railway to Golmud will be the biggest Battlefield 6 map so far, coming in at four times the size of Mirak Valley.

When it comes to gameplay improvements, Battlefield Studios is continuing to evaluate weapon behavior and time-to-kill, with a focus on improving consistency and depth. Recoil behavior will be seeing adjustments as part of this for players of all control scheme, in turn making weapon performance easier to understand.

Testing for improvements to netcode and hit registration are also continuing through Battlefield Labs. Soldier visibility is also a major concern for the development teams, and updates will be coming out to bring in improvements on that front over the course of Season 3.

The role of mortar has also been a major source of discussion, and Battlefield Studios wants to reinforce the fact that it is meant to be used as a teamplay-focused tool. This means that squad members should constantly communicate with each other when using mortars to ensure that appropriate targets are set. Season 3 onwards, mortars will no longer regenerate ammo when deployed, and longer ranges will lead to reduced accuracy.

More updates are in the works for later during Season 3, which will, among other things, improve how land vehicles function based on community feedback, and how the ping system works, with an emphasis on consistency and responsiveness. Matchmaking is also seeing continuous adjustments in the backend.

When it comes to the playlist UI, players will start noticing a few changes in how content is organized. The Featured row, for instance, is being completely replaced with a new Quickplay row. The Multiplayer row is seeing a similar reorganization to reduce the need for horizontal scrolling. Things like Custom Search and single-mode playlists will be separated from mixed-mode experiences.

REDSEC players also have plenty to look forward to thanks to the introduction of the Ranked Battle Royale mode for Quads players.

Battlefield 6 and REDSEC are available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
