NIS have been having a tough time in recent months, having received criticism and backlash from their fanbase over how they’ve mishandled a number of things. But the one thing from them that people are almost always looking forward to regardless of any other circumstances is a new Disgaea game- and don’t worry, Disgaea 6 is definitely coming.

NIS president Sohei Niikawa recently told Dengeki PlayStation (via Ryokutya2089) that Disgaea 6 will “definitely release”- and that’s it. He went on to say that practically everything else to do with the game is undecided as of yet undecided, from the platforms it will come out on, to when it will launch, to even what content will be included in the game.

So yeah, looks like it’s pretty far away- but hey, at least we know it’s coming, right? Until then, we have Disgaea 5 to tide us over, of which a Complete Edition (containing the game and all its DLC) is available now on PS4 and Nintendo Switch- though a PC version of it has been repeatedly delayed, and was delayed to Fall 2018 quite recently once again.

Nippon Ichi, one of the more prolific publishing houses in Japan (they also gave us Prinny), is working on two additional games that are due to be released in Summer and Winter of 2014 respectively. Judging by the studio’s previous output, these games will probably be for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita.

As DualShockers reports, Nippon’s President and Producer Souhei Niikawa, who loves to tease anyway, had this to say:

“I’m going to tackle various challenges as well in 2014. I, myself, have two titles I’m currently in charge of. I can’t talk about the details yet, but we are preparing them so that they can be released in the summer and in the winter. Please stay tuned.”

It could be anything from a new Prinny game to a new Disgaea, or it might be one of each, considering how we are looking at two new games here.

The Last generation of PS3 games is upon us. With the PS4 hitting shelves sometime in November there really aren’t going to be too many more games coming out of the PS3 for long. While there are going to be some new cross-platform titles releasing on it in 2014, the sun has begun to set on the PS3 with the announcement of the next generation.

This is more than alright though, the best titles for a console tend to come out towards the end of it’s life. It’s a bittersweet affair that happens in every successful console’s life cycle. Just look at what we’ve seen this year for the PS3 and it’s been a good year for gaming in general as we usher out the old and bring in the new. The PlayStation 3 still has a few exclusive gems to share with us before the year is done.

1. The Last Guardian:

The Last Guardian promises to be interesting with Team ICO behind the game’s development there is a lot to look forward to. The story is about a boy as he becomes friends with a giant, wild- yet friendly creature as they try to escape what appears to be a monolithic and ancient castle.

The wonderful cinematic sequences, creature design and art style are going to be a treat for anyone who is a fan of games like Shadow of the Colossus and Ico. The action ans well as  game-play in The Last Guardian also looks like it will bring a fresh twist to the Action-Adventure genre. It will be interesting to see how a young boy deals with large, armored soldiers while apparently not having any real weapons. The underlying tone of friendship and dedication is a nice touch of emotion that we should be seeing more of in gaming.

Given the questionable absence of the game, we think that this will be a cross generation game.

Previously, it had been assumed the game was set for Playstation Vita (since code within the teaser site’s image showed “Vita” tucked within). This week’s Famitsu dispelled all doubts, however.

The RPG in question is called Kamisama to Unmei Kakumei no Paradox (yes, it’s one of those names). Called Kamipara for short, it’s being developed by the same team behind Disgaea. This includes director Masahiro Yamamoto and character designer Noizi Ito.

Kamipara will have two editions upon release: a standard and limited edition. To top things off, it currently has a Japanese release date of December 20th.

All this is great news, for sure. But when will be getting the Disgaea sequel that Nippon Ichi promised to make “one day”? Might have to wait a bit longer for that.

And no, it’s not a port: It’s a standalone app based on the franchise’s ‘Item World’ which randomly generates a new map to fight in. Disgaea For Android, as it’s known, will be released May 16th for free. Awesome Dood!

NIS has confirmed to VG247 that Disgaea 4 will be released exclusively on the PS3 in Europe this year. Previously, the next installment in this long-running RPG series was confirmed only for a US release, after it would be released in Japan on February 24th.

“We will definitely release the title in Europe in 2011,” a rep said in an e-mail. No exact release date has yet been announced though, as is the case with the US release of the game. Though it was recently rumoured that the US would be getting the game this summer, so maybe that’s when we can expect the game to be released in Europe.
