Despite a 14 percent drop in sales for the week, FIFA 14 managed to be the number one selling game in the UK according to the latest UKIE Game Charts courtesy Gfk Chart Track. The game has been on top for the majority of January, even as we were heading into the New Year.

Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Ghosts is still at number 2. The game is currently slated to receive a new DLC pack in the form of Onslaught that will add new multiplayer maps, a new weapon and the first episode of the new Extinction campaign. Did we mention Michael Myers makes an appearance and is playable?

Battlefield 4 is at third, while LEGO Marvel Superheroes is in fourth place and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is at fifth. Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition saw a 2 percent rise in sales last week and is in sixth. Killzone Shadow Fall, GTA V, Need for Speed Rivals and Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z make up the remainder of the top 10. Battle of Z in fact made its debut this week and cracking the top 10 is no mean feat.

Namco Bandai Games have announced that a demo for their upcoming game, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z will be available over Xbox Live and PlayStation Network starting tomorrow in Europe.

The demo will include the first four missions of the game, four playable characters (Goku, Krillin, Kid Gohan, and Piccolo), and a battle and co-op mode which allow you to play with other players playing the demo.

The best part is that data from the demo carries over to the full game (if you decide to buy it):

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z will be available in January 2014 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A digital version of the game will also be sold on PlayStation Vita. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage on the game.

Battle of Z will feature a four player mode and encourages group-based fighting, with an eight player “Battle Royale” mode available for the same. You’ll be able to Synchro with other fighters and simultaneously attack an opponent. Otherwise, there’s the usual combo tactics wherein you can knock an enemy into the awaiting arms of your partners and juggle them across the battlefield.

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z is currently set to release on January 23rd 2014 in Japan. A European and North American release date is still to be announced. Stay tuned for more details as they arrive.

The game is developed by Artdink, and has been in development since March 2013. Rather than a single-player experience, it will have a four-player mode along with multiplayer and dynamic boss battles. There will also be an eight-player “Battle Royale” mode which sees players taking each other on in a free for all. Of course, there will still be a single-player campaign as well.

The usual characters such as Goku, Gohan, Vegeta (along with their Super Saiyan forms), Piccolo, Krillin and many more will be selectable. Interestingly, there will also be a special Day 1 Edition that has a Naruto Sage Mode costume for Goku to wear. Sadly, you won’t be using jutsu and such – it’s just a bonus costume for Goku. Indications have pointed to the game possibly being released by March 31st 2014 but stay tuned for confirmation as Namco Bandai provides it.

Namco Bandai Games Europe Senior Vice President Olivier Comte stated that, “The Dragon Ball games continue to thrill fans across Europe, and Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z brings some very exciting new features to the series,” said . “The large scale cooperative team melee battles are like nothing players have seen before in a Dragon Ball game. Fans can’t afford to miss it.”

The game will boast four different modes, a full featured single-player game and the same trademark visual style that captures the feel of the anime.
