Halo fans will be able to pick up the live-action series in DVD and Blu-ray form.

Microsoft’s Halo: Nightfall, a five episode live-action television mini-series which bridges the gap between Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians, will be releasing in collection format in North America and Europe this March. You’ll be able to purchase the same on DVD and Blu-ray on March 17th and all the episodes have been cut together as a single feature film.

Produced by Ridley Scott, Halo: Nightfall originally aired when it launched with Halo: The Master Chief Collection. It was later available for all Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles through November and December. Microsoft has also revealed that Nightfall will be available on digital channels in the coming days.

Halo: Nightfall is perhaps most famous for offering a peek at Jameson Locke who will play a primary role in Halo 5: Guardians. Locke is an ONI agent who will be on the hunt for Master Chief, who has seemingly vanished following the events of Halo 4.

Marvel's celebrating the release of The Avengers on Blu-ray the only way they know how.

In celebration of the release of The Avengers for Blu-Ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD, Marvel is dropping the price of Avengers Initiative, it’s mobile action game, from $6.99 to $2.99. The price drop is only for a limited time though, so make sure you head over the App Store and pick it up for either iPad, iPod, iPhone and other assorted Apple devices (iPhone 3GS users need not apply).

What is Avengers Initiative? We’ll let the PR decode that one for you:

“Avengers Initiative burst onto the mobile scene on September 6, 2012 as Marvel’s first episodic game created exclusively for mobile devices. The first installment of the series centers on the Incredible Hulk, fittingly one of the most groundbreaking characters of the Marvel Universe.

“With visual and combat controls suited for consoles but fit for a finger, players adopt the Hulk identity to confront the barrage of super-powered criminals who have escaped from a top-secret S.H.I.E.L.D. holding facility. The Avengers Initiative project promises more story, gameplay and free content over the coming months.”

Finally, we have a clip Resident Evil: Damnation, the next CG film for Capcom’s survival horror series. The clip features Leon talking to Hammond, who asks him to suddenly pull out from the country he’s in.

Leon, being the big man that he is, decides he’d rather not be a citizen for a while then not face some more biohazards. Because that’s how he rolls.

Someone unleash a Tyrant on this man already.

Damnation releases very soon for Blu-ray and DVD. You may buy it, but we strongly suggest otherwise.

Microsoft is currently running a public preview program for a new Xbox 360 disc format, and according to recent reports, the disc format will add 1 GB extra space. Digital Foundry‘s “highly placed development source” has reported this, who has confirmed around a 15% boost in space for the console’s disc format.

“The maximum space allocated to game data on the current disc format is just 6.8GB out of a maximum of 7.95GB on a standard dual layer DVD, with over 1GB dedicated to a DVD-Video partition that also contained anti-piracy security sectors,” says the source.

“Astonishingly, this meant that the last generation PlayStation 2 had a higher level of raw storage available to games developers than the newer Xbox 360. It seems that this video partition has either been drastically reduced or omitted completely in the new format Microsoft is looking to roll-out.”

Stay tuned to GB, we will have more info for you soon.

Microsoft is currently running a beta for “an updated Xbox 360 disc format.” “We are conducting an open call for US based participants for a public preview to help us prepare for an updated Xbox 360 disc format,” Major Nelson announced yesterday.

The Xbox 360 currently runs on a standard DVD format, supporting 8.5-8.7 GBs on dual layered discs. Developers have had to stretch games to multiple discs in several cases, like Mass Effect 2. When compared to the PS3’s Blu-Ray discs, which sport 50 gigs of space, which allows games to feature higher quality graphics and sound, the Xbox 360 sure faces stiff competition.

“This is an important update as we continually strive to improve our products and we could not do so without the help of our great Xbox community,’ says Major Nelson. There will be rewards for entering the public preview program. “As part of the preview program, you will receive a copy of Halo: Reach along with other possible rewards.”

Microsoft is looking for thousands of applicants. Xbox Live Silver members can apply to, but obviously, Gold members will be given more priority.

Stay tuned for more info.
