Everything you need to know about FIFA 17.

FIFA 17 is an association soccer (football to the rest of the world) game that is the latest iteration in the long-running FIFA video game series. The game was released on September 27, 2016 in the United States and worldwide on September 29, 2016. EA Access customers were able to get access to the game days earlier and any progress they made in the limited game modes when the full game was released.

There was also a demo on September 13, a few weeks before the full version of FIFA 17 was released. While the game has received mixed reviews for a few of its modes, the company has revealed that FIFA 17 is the fastest selling game in the long running series. After the announcement of the Sony PS4 Pro, EA said it would be ramping up the graphics and look of several of its games including FIFA 17.

FIFA 17 was officially announced on June 6, 2016. As is the case with most of EA’s long-running sports games, the newest iteration in the series was formally announced through a brand new video showing off the look and feel of FIFA 17. One of the reasons the game has a different look than previous iterations is because this is the first time the developers have used the Frostbite Engine in the series.

The development team has talked about just how powerful the Frostbite Engine has been during the creation of the game. The game’s director even said he was a bit surprised at some of the things the new engine has been able to unlock when it comes to building the game.

Shortly after the game was officially announced by one trailer, the new story mode in the game called The Journey was introduced. On August 26, 2016 The Ultimate Team Legends were announced. Some of these players were only made available on the Xbox One and are below:

Marc Overmars

Paul Schools

Jamie Carragher

Alessandro Del Piero

Ole Gunnar Solskjær

Carles Puyol

Juan Sebastián Verón

Emmanuel Petit

Rio Ferdinand

Luis Hernández

On September 14, 2016 a demo of the game was officially released. Eight days later, EA Access users were able to get access to several other modes in the game. As usual, this version gave players 10 hours of access to the game. The full game was released on September 27, 2016 in North America and world wide two days later.

Story

There are a number of different stories that can be played in FIFA 17. The first story that unfolds in the game is the career mode that is offered on the PS4 and Xbox One as well as the PC. In this career mode, there is something called the Total Club Management which gives players a set of new objectives users must fulfill based upon the team’s board of directors’ priorities. The board’s expectations are laid out using five different categories:

Domestic Success

Continental Success

Brand Exposure

Financial

Youth Development

While none of this has a laid out story the likes of which we see in other story driven games, there is a kind of story that unfolds about the team. The interactions with the board lay out a kind of story as well, as the player who is acting like the top executive for the team is going to interact with the board and accomplish various goals.

The real story mode that has been added to FIFA 17 is The Journey. Users take on the role of Premier League’s next rising star, Alex Hunter. Using this character, players will be able to join any team they want and then follow along a story line that will have Alex go from an unknown to hopefully being a FIFA superstar.

Gameplay

The FIFA 17 developers have said they worked hard to revamp the way the game works. Among the new features in this version of the long running series is a brand new system that introduces constant spatial analysis as well as increasing activity off the ball. The new system changes the way players move, read, and react on the field in order to make it look that much more realistic.

The new system also supposedly given the people who play the game more control over every little aspect of the game. This includes battling for space and position when the ball is coming your players’ way. The developers have also revamped the way players in the game move and react when users are going for the goal. For fans of a more realistic game play, changes to things like the penalty kick will be welcomed additions. Players in this year’s version are able to change the starting point and the angle of attack when carrying out a penalty kick.

Mechanics in the game have been changed in a number of other ways in order to make FIFA 17 feel like players of the title feel like they’re on the pitch. In the new story mode, The Journey, the game is using a storywheel dialog system that has been seen in other games such as the Mass Effect franchise. The story wheel changes the way The Journey unfolds off the field for Alex Hunter.

Teams

The teams that are included in FIFA is quite an expansive list. There are more than 30 different leagues in total and in those leagues more than 650 teams have been included in this version of the game. One addition which was just put into the series in the FIFA 16 is the inclusion of women’s national teams. Those teams make a return in FIFA 17. The entire list of women’s national teams that are included in FIFA 17 are:

Australia

Brazil

Canada

China PR

England

France

Germany

Italy

Mexico

Netherlands

Norway

Spain

Sweden

United States

One team that was expected to be included in the game but has been left out, at least for now, is Team Iceland. The people who run the team had a bit of an argument with EA Sports over how much money they were going to get paid for the rights to the team.

Note: This wiki will be updated once we have more information about the game

One of the latest sports game gets added to the vault.

FIFA 16 will be added to EA Access and Origin Access’ vaults on April 19, according to Electronic Arts. The game going to the vault means subscribers will get access to the entirety of the game and will be able to play it as if they owned the game as long as they keep their subscription going.

The announcement continues a period of time when the vault has seen quite a few additions. Dead Space was added to the EA Access Vault on April 5 and NHL 16 was added just a few weeks ago. Madden 16 was added at the beginning of February. This flurry of additions actually cuts into a long time period where there were very few games being added.

FIFA 16 comes to the subscription service just seven months after it was first released. In addition to the full game, subscribers are able to unlock all of the game’s achievements and will be able to purchase Ultimate Team packs for 10 percent off the regular price. Of course, the one downside to this news is that if you decide at any time to cancel your EA Access account you will no longer have access to this game. The subscription service costs $4.99 a month and users can also purchase a one year subscription up front for $29.99.

Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is still the number one selling game in the UK according to Gfk Chart-Track. This is following the lack of any major releases in the past week though there’s been plenty of movement among other released games till now.

For instance, FIFA 16‘s sales increased, moving it from fourth place to second in the span of a week. Star Wars: Battlefront is in third place while Grand Theft Auto 5 is in fourth place. Fallout 4 is in fifth place followed by Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege, WWE 2K16 (which actually went from 11th to seventh place), Just Cause 3, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate and Battlefield 4.

It will be a while before any other high-profile titles launch though Resident Evil Origins Collection could see a strong debut when it’s out on January 19th. Ditto for The Witness which is out for PS4 on January 28th. Will either unseat Call of Duty: Black Ops 3? We’ll find out in the coming few weeks.

It’s the week before Christmas but Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is currently ruling the sales charts in the UK. According to Gfk Chart-Track, the first person shooter saw a 33 percent increase in sales.

Star Wars Battlefront managed to come in second place followed by FIFA 16, Fallout 4 and Minecraft: Story Mode. Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, Just Cause 3, Grand Theft Auto 5, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection round out the rest of the charts.

Considering the lack of any major releases until next month, it’s safe to assume that Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will stay on top – this is despite issues that have arisen recently with the game’s hotfix supposedly messing up matchmaking. You can read more about the same here but thankfully Treyarch is listening to feedback and fixing things.

What are your thoughts on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 topping UK charts for this week? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more information.

Four key areas will be handled in this new update.

EA Sports’ FIFA 16 will soon be getting a brand new update, one that addresses some of the major complaints that players playing the title have had since its launch earlier in the year. According to EA, the new update will tackle referee decisions, passing, defensive pressure, and player positioning.

The update is already available to some PC players, and EA plans to launch it for Xbox and PlayStation players soon as well. The full, detailed list of changes coming to the game, according to EA, includes:

Improvements to the Rules and Physics systems to have better referee decisions and help address penalty decisions

Behavioral changes in ‘Secondary Contain’ and ‘Interceptions’ to help balance high-pressure situations

Improvements in how quickly fatigue effects occur for players using ‘Aggressive Interceptions’ and ‘Secondary Contain’. This could, in turn, have an impact on your ability to apply high pressure as the game progresses and your players become increasingly fatigued

Instances where no auto tackle launched even when positioned properly

Improvements in the positioning system to allow for better attacking runs and support

FIFA 16 is available right now for PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.

Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 managed to stave off heavy competition and sales falling by 37 percent to rise to the top of the UK game charts according to Gfk Chart-Track.

Star Wars Battlefront came in at second place followed by FIFA 16. It will be interesting to see how Battlefront fares when Star Wars: Episode 7 – The Force Awakens releases this week. Regardless, it’s doing very well for being out nearly a month after launch.

Fallout 4 is in fourth place with sales down by 21 percent while Minecraft: Story Mode is in fifth place. Just Cause 3 has plummeted from second place to sixth with sales dropping by 43 percent and Rainbow Six: Siege is in ninth place, moving down from third place with a 58 percent reduction in sales.

What are your thoughts on this week’s sales in the UK especially with Christmas around the corner? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned for more information.

PS4 and Xbox One made up 86 percent of total game sales last week.

Gfk Chart-Track’s video game sales chart for the UK is a little late this week but it reflects unit sales for Black Friday. In fact, this year’s Black Friday saw a 60 percent increase in overall unit sales with the PS4 and Xbox One making up 86 percent of total sales.

In terms of which games were on top, it was EA Sports’ FIFA 16 which took first place. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 was in second place with a 47 percent increase in sales followed by Star Wars Battlefront, Fallout 4 (whose sales increased by 8 percent last week) and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.

Grand Theft Auto 5 continues its long stay in the sales charts at sixth place followed by Minecraft: Story Mode, Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Forza Motorsport 6. It should be interesting to note the places that Just Cause 3 and Rainbow Six: Siege will occupy given their recent releases. Stay

A new update is out for EA Sport’s FIFA 16; version 1.03 brings new third kits for Roma, Barcelona and Inter Milan, adds some star heads for players from newly promoted teams in the Barclays Premier League, and fixes a few reported exploits with the game. The entire thing weighs in at a surprisingly lightweight 380MB.

Among the fixes included is a fix to the sniping training method problem in Ultimate Team, where you adjust the price conditions to the lowest Buy Now price of a player and wait till someone accidentally puts up a card. That won’t be as easy after this.

The patch notes follow below:

This update includes new content:

Star heads for some players, many of which are from the newly promoted Barclays Premier League teams this season.

New third kits have been added for Roma, Barcelona, and Inter Milan.

This update includes general stability improvements and addresses the following items identified by the community and the FIFA Live Service team:

Improvements to online matchmaking.

One instance of a team celebrating a goal at the wrong moment.

An exploit to win/loss record in FIFA Online Seasons.

Correct country flags appearing in FIFA Pro Clubs.

One instance of Pro Club accomplishments resetting for a small number of users.

An issue on PS4 that caused screen size changes to not save correctly.

In addition to the above, the update addresses the following in FIFA Ultimate Team:

Updated the default value assigned to the Buy Now option to the max value when listing an item for sale on the Transfer Market.

Improvements to Compare Price when used on consumable items.

Issue where your Goalkeeper was the default selection for all Player Roles.

An issue in settings where the image of the ball didn’t match the selected ball.

An issue that caused a shared Concept Squad to be displayed as a playable squad in the EA Sports Football Club news feed.

An issue with the use of historical kits by your opponent in Play a Friend’s Squad.

FIFA 16 is available now for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, and PC, with versions for Wii, Nintendo 3DS, PS Vita, and iOS and Android devices also available.

FIFA 16 continued the series’ longstanding tradition of posting insane, record breaking numbers, that ensure that the games are a perennial fixtures in the sales charts worldwide. According to EA, over 1.5 billion hours were spent by players playing the game, with 326 million matches played. That’s a frightening amount of time spent on the game- imagine just how many productive man-hours were lost!

FIFA 16 has posted great sales numbers worldwide (it continues to dominate UK sales charts, and it charted in the top 5 in the NPD sales charts), so this really should not come as a surprise to anyone. Nevertheless, the critical reception to FIFA 16 was decidedly muted, with not a lot of critics thinking that FIFA 16 stood up, in particular, to Konami’s PES 2016, which they preferred.

FIFA 16 is out now on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, PC, as well as out in some form for the Nintendo 3DS, Wii, PS Vita, iOS, and Android devices.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Destiny hold strong.

EA Sports’ FIFA 16 continues to stomp all over the competition in the UK according to the latest Gfk Chart-Track data. This is the fourth week it’s remained in number 1 spot with Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection still in second place.

Meanwhile, Destiny: The Taken King is in the third spot which is pretty good considering it’s been out for more than a month. This isn’t even counting the downloadable sales (which Gfk Chart-Track doesn’t follow) which are astronomical. LEGO Dimensions is in fourth place while Grand Theft Auto 5 is in fifth and Forza Motorsport 6 is in sixth.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is still hanging on in seventh place, following a first day global launch that was double the revenue of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Bandai Namco’s Tales of Zestiria is in eighth place on its debut, LEGO Jurassic World is in ninth and Minecraft: Xbox Edition is in tenth place.
