The interactive adventure can be purchased on GOG, Steam, and Epic Games Store.

Thatgamecompany’s Flower, a gorgeous interactive adventure game, is now available for PC. Published by Annapurna Interactive, it can be purchased on GOG and Steam for $6.99, while the Epic Games Store version is $3.99. The breakout title is celebrating its 10 year anniversary after launching on PS3 in February 2009. It’s since been ported to PS4, PlayStation Vita and iOS.

What is Flower about though? You are the wind and can travel through different environments. The overall tone of the game is very peaceful and relaxed, as you interact with the environment, influence it, and ultimately seek balance. Long story short, you could probably look up “chill” in the dictionary, and Flower would appear right next to it.

Thankfully, this isn’t the only release from thatgamecompany for PC. It was confirmed that Journey would also be heading to PC this year. Even more acclaimed than Flower, Journey first launched for PS3 in 2012 before heading to PS4. The PC version will also be published by Annapurna on the Epic Games Store in 2019.

After the critically acclaimed Journey left us spell-bound many years ago, Thatgamecompany has finally begun to tease its next game.

Not much is known other than a few tweets with images that hint at…something. The only real clue the Flower and Flow developer offered was that it would be a game “about giving”. It’s currently being referred to as “thatnextgame”.

The image above actually intrigues us quite a bit and it wouldn’t be too odd if Thatgamecompany creates another adventure game like Journey. Maybe more information will be revealed at Sony’s PlayStation Experience event scheduled for December? Could it arrive on the PS4 Pro and possibly support 4K?

The possibilities are interesting but either way, we’re going to be waiting patiently for more information on this one. What do you think Thatgamecompany’s next project could be about? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for further updates.

If you really want to play Journey on your PlayStation 4, but are hesitant to invest in a digital game, the you’re in luck, as it will be getting a physical release next month. Come October 2, and you should be able to get Journey: Collector’s Edition for your PlayStation 4; this disc will include not only Journey itself, but also thatgamecompany’s previous outings, fl0w and Flower.

If the PS4 release is anything like the PS3 physical release was back in 2013, then in addition to the game, it will also include special features, including a a 30-minute making of documentary, as well as developer commentaries.

Given that Journey is a really spectacular game, and one of the most important titles of last generation, you owe it to yourself to give it a play through. The PS4 version comes remastered in full 1080p.

Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage and information on the game.

The classic game comes remastered to PS4.

thatgamecompany’s hit PlayStation 3 exclusive indie game, Journey, will be coming to PlayStation 4 this summer, when it will be released as part of a retail compilation package. The compilation package will include Journey, in addition to also having flOw and flower. The games will all run at 60 FPS, and in 1080p, but are otherwise unchanged and untouched.

However, if you don’t want to buy the disc, or if you already own flOw and flower, then rest assured, Journey will also be available to buy individually through the PSN Store digitally; although it has not yet been confirmed if it will be Cross Buy like flOw and flower were, it is safe to assume that it almost certainly will be.

Journey was originally released for the PS3 in 2012; it was an instant hit, because of its engaging, minimalistic gameplay and narrative, and its unique approach to player engagement. The PS4 version should allow many who missed out on this unique game the first time around to be able to check it out now.

Promises new game will be an 'emotionally engaging experience.'

thatgamecompany, the developers who brought us Flow, Flower, and their breakout hit Journey, all exclusively on the PlayStation 3, have been working on a new game project for quite a while now (and apparently, their next game project is not necessarily exclusive to PlayStation); today, they announced that they have raised $7 million for this new game, the funding coming from venture capital firm Capital Today and a team of other investors.

“We are happy to partner with Capital Today and a team of other investors who share our vision in making meaningful interactive experiences that inspire, connect, and emotionally touch the hearts of players around the world,” they said.

“With this new investment, our studio is able to scale up development efforts to focus on making the best game possible in the same spirit as flOw, Flower, and Journey. We’ll also begin laying the infrastructure to self-publish, market, and distribute on our own terms for this next project and beyond.”

Considering the meteoric upward trajectory this company has seen, seeing what they do next will certainly be extremely interesting.

The off-beat selection continues.

Sony had its fair share of PlayStation Vita titles to reveal, aside from the usual indie efforts. One of those includes thatgamecompany’s Flower, which you’ll remember as releasing for the PS3 back in 2009. Now the game is heading to PlayStation Vita and looks as snazzy and serene as ever. Check out the trailer above.

Next up Big Fest, developed by On The Metal Studios and described as a music festival simulator game. You’ll be able to go about discovering bands, creating your lineups and even visiting other fests for co-op play of some sort. On The Metal is pushing for “your music, your way”, and promises to featuring real band and somehow “breaking real bands in the real world.” Sounds ambitious enough. Check it out above.

Finally, we have the trailer for Doki Doki Universe, which releases on the PS4 and PS Vita. It’s a free to play game that’s “more than a game” and has you playing as a robot who must get people to like you. Or something along those lines. Let it not be said that Sony doesn’t have a thing for the off-beat. Check it out above.

Journey and Flower represent two of the very best games on the PlayStation Network and the PlayStation 3 in general – while the latter has seen much critical appreciation, the latter soared, winning several Game of the Year awards and to this point, still selling.

But don’t think that developer thatgamecompany be bringing either of those games to any other platforms, especially the Wii U which they are interested in. Responding to fan queries on Twitter, the developer simply stated that it was the agreement to stay exclusive to the PS3 that led to both projects being funded in the first place.

@ResurgenceTees @Lukasmeza #FlowerPS3 and #JournneyPS3 were funded in order to be exclusive to Sony's platforms, so they can't be on Wii U.

— thatgamecompany (@thatgamecompany) July 2, 2013

The developer also stated that they’re next game won’t be exclusive to a single platform – even if it is on just one console in the beginning (essentially, like a timed exclusive).

@Lukasmeza @ResurgenceTees Correct. Our next game won't be exclusive to any single platform, but it *could* be on one console, but open…

— thatgamecompany (@thatgamecompany) July 2, 2013

We still don’t know about their next project, but if Journey was any indication, it should be just as breath-taking and inspiring. And hopefully, it’ll be on multiple platforms sooner rather than later.

Polygon has confirmed that the critically acclaimed indie PlayStation 3 title Flower is now coming to PlayStation Vita later this year and will be making an appearance at E3 2013 at the IndieCade booth. Flower was an innovative game that was released four years ago and was developed by thatgamecompany. Flower became one of the most popular PSN games back in the day when PSN wasn’t filled with that many successful titles. It was also one of the first few titles that included trophies on PlayStation 3 during the beginning of trophy support firmware.

Those who never got to experience Flower on the PlayStation 3 will finally get a chance to try it out on their new and sleek PlayStation Vita sometime later this year. Current details about the game are unknown other than the fact that the PlayStation Vita version will take advantage of touch-based features/controls.

Let us know if you’re excited to play Flower on your PlayStation Vita in the comments below.

Check back on GamingBolt for more updates as we get closer to E3 2013.

Jenova Chen might find things a little uncomfortable. Having developed flOw and Flower, he must be find it hard to deal with all the new found attention on him and his studio, thatvideogamecompany, after the success of Journey for the Playstation 3.

So much so, that he’s actually become quite distrustful of journalists.

In response to a tweet regarding the nature of “frankenquotes”, Chen responded:

Totally feel you. My attitude towards journalist (sic) has shifted from friendly to suspicious.

How, why, who, what, where, when and how? Well, it’s not the first time any one’s been misquoted and it most certainly won’t be the last. But what happened to Chen that’s made him suspicious of journalists is hereto unknown.

Maybe general paranoia? Regardless, Journey is still tons of fun. The more attention paid to Chen and his company’s winning efforts, the better and more power to them. But that’s the price of fame.

It’s the hotly anticipated new title from ‘Flower’ creators Thatgamecompany. In the game you play a robed figure travelling through a desert towards a mountain in the distance. The game will feature no map or instructions. You will be able to encounter other players online, one at a time, in the desert, but will only be able to communicate to each other with a wordless shout and will only be able to identify other players via the symbols on their robes. A closed online Beta for the title recently closed and a post on the PSN blog has revealed that the game is pegged for a Spring 2012 release.
