Melty Blood: Type Lumina – Powered Ciel and Mario Gallo Bestino Announced as Free DLC

French Bread’s 2D fighter Melty Blood: Type Lumina has been out for several months, but it seems its developers aren’t planning on slowing down as far as adding new content to the game is concerned, having recently two new characters who’re joining the roster of the game. On April 14, Melty Blood: Type Lumina will add to more fighters to its roster with Powered Ciel and Mario Gallo Bestino.

Last featured in Melty Blood: Actress Again Current Code, Powered Ciel is a high-power type who excels at aggressively pursuing enemies, while keeping opponents under pressure with magical lightning attacks, with the ability to switch between the gun, blade, and pile-driver weapons on the fly, allowing for varied attack combos.

Mario Gallo Bestino primarily fights using his “Piano Machine” to control sisters for offense, besides his agility. Mario excels in medium and long-range battles, slipping by enemy attacks while using a crowd of sisters to deliver beatings to his foes. Mario’s playstyle involves the usage of puppets and choosing an optimal attack for the situation.

Both characters will be completely free for owners of the game, and both will feature their own unique Arc Drives and Last Arcs.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina Has Sold Over 270,000 Units Worldwide

French Bread-developed fighting-game Melty Blood: Type Lumina has got off to a solid start, with its gameplay, unique mechanics, and solid netcode having received plenty of praise. It seems the same has been reflected in the game’s sales as well.

As of March 2022, the game has surpassed total sales of 270,000 units worldwide (via Siliconera). In contrast, during its launch weekend in Japan, the game sold around 11,600 units on the Nintendo Switch, and 18,833 units on the PlayStation 4, totaling 30,497 retail copies (excluding digital sales) for the week.

One might think the numbers are not very impressive- however, given that the fighting game series has been predominately very niche among the community, the sales numbers are certainly decent.

Earlier, the game received two free DLC characters on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.. Melty Blood: Type Lumina will also be making its EVO debut this year, having been included in the tournament’s lineup of games.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina Trailer Showcases Upcoming Character Aoko Aozaki in Action

It seems Type-Moon and French Bread are not yet done with the announcements, as they recently dropped a video showcasing how their upcoming character Aoko Aozaki in Melty Blood: Type Lumina is going to play in-game. It shows how Aoko as a character is going to look and perform against the others in the roster, as a complete match is put on a show for players to check out.

The trailer dropped just days after Type-Moon announced another new character, Dead Apostle Noel joining the game. Both the character will be joining the game on January 13 and are free for owners of the game.

The trailer shows Aoko going head to head against Tohno Shiki, in what seems like the new stage the game will be getting. The video does a good job of showcasing Aoko’s battle style, who looks like a versatile character having a lot of long-range magical attacks.
