Xbox Game Pass Core Announced, Launches September 14th

After a premature report on the same, Microsoft has officially announced Xbox Game Pass Core. It launches on September 14th and provides access to multiplayer, more than 25 games and “exclusive member deals” for $9.99 monthly and $59.99 yearly.

Note that the game library may vary by country. More titles will be announced before the service’s launch in September. New games will be added two to three times yearly, though how many at any given time is unknown. Those currently subscribed to Xbox Live Gold will automatically switch to the new plan with no change in pricing.

Games with Gold officially ends on September 1st. Any Xbox One games redeemed through it are still accessible if you subscribe to Game Pass Core or Game Pass Ultimate. Xbox 360 titles obtained through the same will remain in your library, even without a subscription. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice Now Supports Ray Tracing on PC

Following its optimization on Xbox Series X/S, Ninja Theory has released a new update for Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice on PC. This adds several improvements to the visuals including updated materials, particles and level of detail along with support for ray tracing. There are three presets – Low, Medium and High – to choose from.

Those who want the very best quality should go for the High preset since it exclusively contains ray traced reflections and ray traced shadows. Other features include support for Direct X 11 and 12, Nvidia DLSS and AMD’s FSR upscaling. If that weren’t enough, various accessibility options like color blindness presets, full controller and keyboard remapping and subtitle customization have been added.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is currently available for Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Its sequel, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, is exclusive to Xbox Series X/S and PC with rumors claiming it will appear at The Game Awards 2021. The awards ceremony will take place on December 9th so stay tuned for more details.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice – Xbox Series X/S Update Also Coming to PC

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice recently received a surprise update for Xbox Series X/S, providing three graphical modes with support for 4K, 120 FPS and DirectX Raytracing. On its official website for the same, Ninja Theory confirmed that the update would also be coming to PC. Unfortunately, there aren’t any plans to release it for other platforms at the moment.

For this update, the developer partnered with QLOC, who ported the game over to the Nintendo Switch (and are also responsible for the Windows Store PC port of NieR: Automata). This means that Ninja Theory has been able to focus on its own titles like Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 instead of diverting resources. Of course, it’s still going to be a while before the sequel releases.

It wasn’t present during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase at E3 2021, instead receiving a work montage later on. Ninja Theory’s plan at the time was to create “a good chunky slice of the game” before full production began to create the rest. It also expressed the desire to not have it be a straight up to the original. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is currently in development for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
