The developer has released a new gameplay video showcasing over 7 minutes of footage from Instinction. Set to be the first of three gameplay videos that will be released over the course of 2024, it shows protagonist Isabel “Izzy” Sierra Ruiz waking up to find herself in a dense jungle in the game’s setting of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico.

As per Hashbane Interactive, the footage is from a “very early” portion of the game. As such, you’ll find that there isn’t a ton of action in there, nor do you get too much of an idea of what the core systems will look like, with the footage being focused mostly on light exploration- though we do get a few glimpses of some dinosaurs, so there’s that. Instinction is in development for PC and consoles. It’s set to launch sometime in 2025. Pre-orders for its PC version have now gone live.

The trailer shows us some incredibly early footage of the game, and gives us a great look at the scale and majesty of some of the dinosaurs in the game. The trailer primarily focused on the game’s environments and dinosaurs, and doesn’t really give us a look at its gameplay.

Instinction was originally announced a couple of years ago, and was initially slated for release in 2022. It has since been delayed however, and is only now ready to the point of being able to allow players to playtest the game.

Instinction puts you into the shoes of a person who is alone and is traversing a wide landscape full of dinosaurs. It will feature several mechanics, including vehicles, swimming, and climbing. Instinction is slated for release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

The Next Witcher Game

CDPR will be shifting from its in-house REDEngine to Epic’s Unreal Engine 5 for the next entry in The Witcher franchise. While details on the game remain almost non-existent for now, we do know that the developer switched engines for the vast array of tools available in Unreal Engine 5 that should help in crafting a lifelike open world. And with the numerous streaming and pop-in issues seen in the studio’s latest release Cyberpunk 2077, we think this shift might just be for the best.

Horizon Forbidden West

Guerilla Games’ upcoming Horizon Forbidden West will continue the tale of series protagonist Aloy as she ventures forth to the Forbidden West with the goal of clearing the corruption spread by H.A.D.E.S. Much like Zero Dawn, players will be fighting a bevy of dangerous machines, with some clearly being modeled after dinosaurs such as the likes of Thunderjaw, Stormbirds, Watchers, and many more. While it isn’t confirmed how many of those will be returning from the original, it’s likely that at least a few will make the cut, and a whole bunch of new creatures would be roaming the landscapes.

Redfall

Arkane Studios’ rumored Omen was finally revealed as open world co-op shooter Redfall. The story sees an island in Massachusetts cut off from the rest of the world after vampires block out the sun. Naturally, as a survivor, you need to kill them and escape. Though gameplay wasn’t revealed, there will be multiple playable characters, each with their own unique abilities and gadgets. And though it may seem akin to Back 4 Blood, Bethesda’s Pete Hines says that a more methodical approach will be needed instead of running and gunning. Redfall is slated to release in Summer 2022 for Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Unlike Dino Crisis though, Instinction is looking to add several other mechanics into the mix. These include vehicles, swimming for exploring underwater, climbing and much more. While you won’t be forced to stick to a linear path in the narrative, some areas require certain tactics to infiltrate. Because, spoilers, there are dinosaurs roaming about.

What does the trailer mean by initially coming to save them? We’ll have to wait for more details. Instinction is currently in development for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. It will be releasing in 2022 for PC first and consoles later with Stadia and Switch releases also being considered. Stay tuned for more details and gameplay in the meantime.
