The shark action RPG is available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Allowing you to play as a shark and wreak all sorts of havoc in an open world setting, Maneater has praised for being big, dumb, gleeful fun by most who played it, and that reception has translated to impressive sales for the action RPG.

Developer Tripwire Interactive recently put out a press release announcing the appointment of Matthew LoPilato as its new CEO, with former CEO Alan Wilson transitioning into the role of vice president. In that press release, the developer revealed that since its launch in 2020, Maneater has sold over 14 million units worldwide across all platforms. This is the first time sales figures have been revealed for the action RPG (or shaRkPG, as Tripwire likes to call it).

In our review of Maneater, we gave it a score of 7/10, praising its combat, voice acting, and environments, while criticizing its repetitive nature. Read the full review through here.

Maneater is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Terrorizing others can be a hell of a lot of fun.

It’s always fun when games flip the scrip in unexpected ways, which, given their more interactive nature than any other entertainment medium, they do quite often. One method that games have adopted frequently over the years is letting you play as the monster, so that terrorizing your prey or unleashing your unique abilities becomes the focus of the experience. Games have let players do that in a variety of ways, and here, we’re going to talk about a few of them.

PREDATOR: HUNTING GROUNDS

Illfonic’s asymmetrical multiplayer title Predator: Hunting Grounds was a flawed game in more ways than one, but for fans of the property, there was some fun to be had in getting to play as a Predator. With multiple different Predator types to play as and unique abilities to make use of with each of them, the game certainly had some interesting mechanics up its sleeve- even though not all of them were as well executed as they should have been.

The action RPG's expansion launches in a few days, and shares a few snippets of gameplay and story details in its newest trailer.

Maneater was a big fan favourite upon its launch last year, and given the fact that it’s an open world action RPG that lets you play and unleash chaos as a shark, it’s not hard to understand why it was so popular. Soon, fans of the game will have even more content to dive into with the upcoming Truth Quest DLC, and ahead of its imminent launch, we have another new look at it.

At Future Games Show Gamescom 2021, Tripwire Interactive shared another new trailer, mostly setting the stage for the story of the DLC- and it involves a lot of conspiracy theories about aliens, mysteries, dark secrets begging to be uncovered, and more. It definitely sounds interesting. Meanwhile, there’s a couple of very brief gameplay snippets in there as well. Check out the trailer below.

Maneater: Truth Quest will launch for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC- a Nintendo Switch version of the DLC hasn’t yet been confirmed.

Maneater might not have been the best game you played in 2020, but it didn’t have to be- it was an open world RPG that allowed you to play as a shark and munch on humans and other things besides while sowing chaos everywhere you went. With a premise like that, it was exactly as fun as it needed to be- and soon, we’re getting more of its.

Last year saw you be able to live out a fantasy of being the hunter with Maneater, a game where you played a shark out for blood and vengeance. The game was a unique one that saw you play the apex predator as you battled both other underwater critters as well as the hunters above. Now, there’s more of it, and it seems they are intent on going to the next level.

The developer has been talking about the DLC for awhile, and now we have it unveiled as Truth Quest. Alongside a new trailer, developer Tripwire Interactive gave details on the expansion. It will features 2 new episodes and an entirely different region. You’ll get to face off with a new Apex Predator, and Bounty bosses get a whole lot of new tricks with new devices, even helicopters to try and take you out.

Maneater is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC. Truth Quest will launch across all those platforms sometime this summer. The game is scheduled to also release on the Switch on May 25th, but it’s unclear if the DLC is planned to release on that system at the same time or not.

The action RPG is finally swimming onto the Nintendo Switch.

Tripwire Interactive’s open world action RPG Maneater might not have been the biggest or most high profile release of 2020, but it was definitely one of the most enjoyable games of last year- which isn’t surprising, given the fact that it lets you play as a shark and chomp away on humans (and other sharks) to your heart’s content. Since its launch, it’s also been brought over to next-gen systems, but a Switch version, which had actually been confirmed long, long before that, has been stuck in a limbo of sorts. Well, until now, at least.

Tripwire Interactive and publisher Deep Silver have confirmed that Maneater will finally be releasing for the Nintendo Switch on May 25, just a little over a couple of months from now. Details haven’t been confirmed on things such as resolution and frame rate, but those will probably arrive in the coming weeks.

Maneater is currently available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Tripwire Interactive have also confirmed that they’re working on DLC for the game. In the meantime, be sure to check out our review of the base game through here.

Art director Sean McBride says it's been in the works "for a while now."

Tripwire Interactive’s Maneater is a strange title – it’s either a game that released in 2020 or the best game of 2020 depending on who you ask. Memes aside though, the developer is keen on continuing to support it. In an official AMA on Reddit, art director Sean McBride confirmed that DLC for the SharkPG was in the works.

“DLC has been confirmed! The team has been working on it for a while now. Hoping to share more information very soon.” What the DLC could offer remains to be seen but Tripwire has been quite consistent with post-launch support for its titles. Killing Floor 2 continues to receives substantial new content updates since releasing in 2016.

Maneater is currently available for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5. It released for current-gen consoles back in November and offered support for 4K/60 FPS along with ray-tracing and other improvements. PlayStation Plus subscribers can currently claim the game for free on PS5. It’s also slated to release for Nintendo Switch later this year but no release window has been provided.

Three distinct titles to kick off the new year.

Well, here we are. The end of 2020 is upon us, and 2021 is about to be fresh and ready to go. It’s hard to say where the world goes from here considering everything that’s going on, but one thing to depend on is the slate of free games you can get from the various subscription services in gaming nowadays. We now know how PS Plus will start the new year, and it’s not too shabby.

Sony has created a nice and diverse slate of title to help kick off the new year. On PS4 (and also playable on PS5, of course) is the Bioware-styled RPG from Spiders, Greedfall, and then the final entry in the reboot trilogy of Lara Croft, Shadow of the Tomb Raider. You’ll also be able to get Maneater, the pseudo-open world title where you’re a shark terrorizing the open seas. That, however, will only be playable for PS5 owners, though all PS Plus users will be able to add it to their library.

All three titles will be available to redeem for PS Plus subscribers starting January 5th and will be live for an entire month until February 5th.

This year saw some amazing off-beat titles - check out 10 of them there.

Amid all the big names and blockbusters are the “other” games of 2020. These are the games that are a touch on the odd side, either venturing outside of typical genre definitions or providing unorthodox worlds and stories to get lost in. Let’s take a look at 10 weird games of 2020 and what makes them worth playing.

I Am Dead

I Am Dead is a game about, well, being dead. It’s actually about museum curator Morris Lupton who’s recently passed on. However, a volcano is set to erupt on the island of Shelmherston and it’s up to Morris, along with the ghost of his dog Sparky, to stop it. How do you ask? Why, by venturing across the island and discovering different ghosts, using X-ray vision to dissect the surroundings and ultimately piece together the island’s big mystery while making cheery observations throughout. Equal parts adventure, puzzle, exploration and humor, I Am Dead is a charming title with an unorthodox premise.

Trophies, stats, and saves will not transfer across generations.

Tripwire Interactive that their open world action RPG, Maneater, which launched earlier this year, will be getting a dedicated next-gen release and launch alongside the upcoming consoles as a launch title. However, if you’re a PlayStation player, there’s some bad news for you.

Though free upgrades from the game’s PS4 version to its PS5 version will be supported, Tripwire Interactive have confirmed in an FAQ that progression – including stats, save data, and Trophies – won’t carry over from PS4 to PS5. Cross-gen progression will still be supported across Xbox consoles- so why the difference? The developer explains that Maneater is the same application on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S, which is not the case on PS4 and PS5.

Maneater joins a list of multiple other games that won’t support PS4 to PS5 save transfer. The same has also been confirmed for Yakuza: Like a Dragon and DiRT 5.

Maneater will release for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on November 10 and for PS5 on November 12.
