A lot goes into designing a stealth game, whether it’s crafting realistic enemy AI or missions that facilitate different degrees of sneakiness. Nevertheless, the genre scratches a different itch, as defying the odds through craftiness and minimal violence can feel incredibly rewarding. Let’s look at 15 of the best stealth titles of all time.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut

Ghost of Tsushima is many things. A great action-adventure title with stellar sword combat. A well-told story with strong characterization and memorable events. And to top it all off, the stealth is incredibly on point, whether assassinating enemies from above, poisoning them from afar, or using smoke bombs to slit their throats at close range. While stealth helps trivialize the game as one gets further in, it helps reinforce the legend of Jin as the Ghost, becoming a fiercer foe as his skills improve.

The stylish action stealth title comes to current gen platforms.

Klei Entertainment’s stylish Mark of the Ninja: Remastered is now available for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Boasting enhanced visuals, new content, and much more, the action stealth title still retains its addictive gameplay.

Along with in-game art that’s been re-exported in HD to full 4K (depending on the hardware you’re using), Mark of the Ninja: Remastered also sees increased resolution for backgrounds and re-exported characters. Reanimated scenes with additional details that have been exported at 4K are also included, and the result is more intricate details than before.

Dosan’s Tale is also available for those who finish the story. It brings a new character, new items, a new story level, and developer commentary nodes for the base game. If you own the original Mark of the Ninja and also happen to have the Special Edition DLC, then Mark of the Ninja: Remastered is actually free. Those who own the base version will still receive a discount on the remaster, so it’s worth checking out.

Improved visuals and cutscenes, along with a new character, are included with remastered release.

If you’ve never experienced the magic of stylish stealth murder in Klei Entertainment’s Mark of the Ninja, now’s your chance. The remastered version with high definition visuals will be releasing on October 9th for Nintendo Switch. Check out the release date announcement trailer below.

Of course, aside from improved audio (with a new 5.1 Surround Mix) and visuals, Mark of the Ninja: Remastered also includes a new story level, new items, developer commentary, and a brand new character. After initially releasing in 2012 for the Xbox 360 and PC, the base game has received strong critical praise for its cutscenes, art direction, gameplay design, and overall approach to stealth.

The sheer speed of the gameplay, along with the ability to set traps, bait, and confuse enemies, and so much more looks even better in high-definition. For those awaiting the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions of the remaster, they’re still set to release in Fall 2018. Stay tuned for more information in the meantime.

Mark of the Ninja Remastered, the redux version of the highly acclaimed indie stealth game from the previous generation that until now was available only on Xbox 360 and PC, was announced for the Nintendo Switch during the last Nindies Showcase. The good news for people who don’t own a Switch is, it will also be coming to other systems.

Developer Klei Entertainment has confirmed that the game will be hitting the Switch, as well as the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC—it will be sporting new enhanced HD visuals and a New Game Plus mode across all platforms. There’s a new trailer for the remaster, which to be fair isn’t actually a new trailer—you can check it out for yourself below.

If you don’t want to wait for the remaster, which will be available this Fall on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC, you can get it now on your Xbox 360 or, well, PC.

With very little in the way of other details, though.

Mark of the Ninja was a highly stylized, satisfying 2D stealth platformer for the Xbox 360; the game garnered great acclaim, and even more popularity once it also made the jump to PC, Mac, and Linux. Now, it has been announced to be coming to yet another popular platform.

During today’s Nindies Showcase, Nintendo announced that Mark of the Ninja Remastered will be coming to the Nintendo Switch this Fall. The announcement was accompanied by a short teaser trailer (that you can see for yourself below), that, while not showing us much, gave the game’s gorgeously stylized visuals a chance to shine yet again.

It’s unclear what the ‘remaster’ will entail; improved graphics might be a lock, as well as support for the Switch’s portability, but maybe support for the Switch’s ad how local multiplayer is a possibility? That’s just me speculating, though.

If you want to play the game, and can’t wait for the remaster, Mark of the Ninja is already available now on PC, Mac, Linux, and Xbox 360.
