Given how many leaks and rumours about it we’ve had over the past few weeks and month, it seems like a given that the Mass Effect trilogy’s remastered collection will be announced and released soon. The person who’s been responsible for several of those leaks is GamesBeat reporter Jeff Grubb, and he recently gave out some more info on the remaster.

Speaking recently during the Xbox Expansion Pass podcast, Grubb mentioned that the remastered trilogy is going to release with the name “Legendary Edition”. Additionally, in a separate GamesBeat Decides podcast, Grubb added that he will have more information to share regarding the release next week.

He also claimed that contrary to what some recent retailer listings have suggested, it won’t be releasing on the Nintendo Switch. “Not yet, anyhow,” he added (via VGC). When Grubb broke the story about a Mass Effect trilogy remaster earlier this year, he had stated something similar, claiming that it would not be releasing for the Switch “at first”.

Less than a month ago, Grubb stated that EA were planning on announcing the remastered collection in early October before releasing it later in the month, though also added that their plans could be delayed due to the pandemic. Stay tuned, and we’ll keep you updated as more news comes our way.

We first started hearing rumours about a remastered collection of the original Mass Effect trilogy in the earlier months of the year. We’re now nearly done with September, and the we – haven’t – stopped – hearing – about it. Pre-order listings for the game popped up at UK retailers last month, while just last week, a Portuguese retailer listed the game. And retailers, it seems, aren’t done leaking the game before EA can finally announce it themselves.

Now, Czech retailer Herni-Svet has listed the game as well, having put up PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch listings for Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered. The Switch listing in particular is interesting, because initial rumours about the remaster suggested that it wouldn’t be coming to Nintendo’s console “at first”- perhaps EA’s plans have changed since then (if this listing is accurate, that is). This also wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen retailer listings for a Switch version of the release.

Meanwhile, the listings also mention a release date of October 15 for the remastered collection, which is notable because it falls in line with a recent reports that suggested that it would be officially unveiled in early October and released later in the month. Of course, there’s a chance that this listing isn’t accurate, or at least based on any information the retailer is privy to and based instead on leaks and speculation- but given how much smoke there’s been of late, there’s gotta be a fire somewhere around as well.

As spotted by @Nibellion on Twitter, Portuguese retailer Gaming Replay has put up listings of Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered for the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, with mentions of an October release date. The inclusion of the Switch is interesting, especially since early reports suggested that though the collection would release for Nintendo’s hybrid, it would be coming at a later date.

Of course, these listings don’t necessarily have to mean anything concrete, an it’s entirely possible that they were made due to the leaks and rumours themselves- so take this with a grain of salt for now. This isn’t the first time retailers have listed Mass Effect Trilogy though.
