UK retailer GAME has apparently outed a new Medal of Honor and Need for Speed game, both due for release later this year, and both mentioned in a meeting with EA that was supposed to remain under wraps.

“EA presentation was great. Had mentions of a new Medal of Honor and Need for Speed 13! EA have an exciting year ahead,” said a tweet from the retailer that has now been taken down (obviously).

This doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Not only was a sequel to Medal of Honor warranted because of the incredible sales that the 2010 reboot garnered, selling as much as over 5 million units, but MoH (2010)’s producer confirmed earlier last year that Danger Close was indeed working on the game.

Even a new Need for Speed game doesn’t come as much of a surprise, since it is an annual franchise, with as much as two NFS games being released in 2011 (Shift 2 and The Run).

Some time ago, Danger Close Games, developers of Medal of Honor, posted a job listing on their web page, saying they needed a lead game engineer and a weapons an vehicles artist for and “unannounced AAA first person shooter title.” We, along with almost everyone else, suspected it’s Medal of Honor 2.

Medal of Honor executive producer Greg Goodrich confirmed that the studio is working on Medal of Honor 2 following successful sales (5 million copies sold) of the first game. He posted an update on the Medal of Honor Blog.

Here’s the update:

“Yes, Danger Close is currently working on the next Medal of Honor.

Just recently, EA announced that the reboot of Medal of Honor was a big success with over 5 million copies sold. We wanted to take a moment to thank each of you for supporting us, our new studio and our storied franchise. We would especially like to thank all of the long time Medal of Honor fans out there who have stuck with us over the years.

Since our launch last October, we’ve studied, listened and absorbed much of your feedback and are very excited to be marching forward on the next title. We can’t wait to tell you more about it, so check back often to the website and the fan page on Facebook.

As you all know, our goal was to tell the story of today’s soldier and to do so with the utmost respect and reverence. We’ve received many letters, emails and messages from active servicemen and women from around the world, along with veterans and their families, with appreciation for our recent depiction of their community.
