Harebrained Schemes' Shadowrun trilogy, Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin, Metal: Hellsinger and more are also coming this month.

Sony has announced the next wave of titles coming to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers starting December 19th. PS4 and PS5 players can play Grand Theft Auto 5, Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin, Moto GP23, Metal: Hellsinger (with PS4 owners able to download the PS5 version), Salt and Sacrifice and Moonscars.

There’s also Gigabash, GRIME, Tinykin, Prodeus, Shadowrun Returns, Shadowrun: Dragonfall – Director’s Cut and Shadowrun: Hong Kong – Extended Edition. The only PS4 title for Extra subscribers is Mega Man 11, which should be backwards compatible on PS5. Overall, it’s a solid selection of games, especially for those who never played the Shadowrun series or want to try Grand Theft Auto 5 before its sequel launches.

As for PlayStation Classics, available exclusively to Premium subscribers, there’s Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 and 2 on PS4, and Thrillville, Thrillville: Off the Rails and Buzz Lightyear of Star Command for PS4 and PS5.

Hopefully enough to show Capcom there is still interest in the brand.

Mega Man Legacy Collection has become the first game in the Mega Man series to cross 1 million units sold in 15 years. Capcom’s financial data, with a listing of all of their platinum sellers, notes that the Legacy Collection has sold over a million copies across all the SKUs.

While Legacy Collection is technically a ROM compilation of older games, and has been available across a whole range of systems over a few years now, this is still a notable milestone, because it indicates to Capcom, hopefully, that there is some interest in the Mega Man brand. Mega Man 11 came out earlier this year, and was great, and hopefully the success for this collection means we can see more along those lines from Capcom—maybe even DLC for Mega Man 11, which earlier the developers said that they aren’t quite sure about working on. That, or a Mega Man 12 along the same lines as 11 would be great, too.

Mega Man Legacy Collection is available on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Mega Man 11 is on Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

However, Capcom says it's "actively and carefully monitoring" reactions from players.

Capcom’s been relatively on fire with its Mega Man releases lately. We say “relatively” because even if Mega Man X Legacy Collection is just a repackaging of older titles, the company is still making much more of an effort to promote the Blue Bomber than before. That’s also apparent with the upcoming release of Mega Man 11.

That being said, the real question on everyone’s mind is: What about Mega Man X9? After all, Mega Man Legacy Collection did well, and now we have new Mega Man titles. Could Mega Man X9 follow the same trend? Mega Man 11 producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya recently spoke at a press conference about the same. Additionally, he also talked about Mega Man 11 utilizing the MT Framework engine and serving as a benchmark for new series entries in the next decade.

Regardless, concerning Mega Man X9, Tsuchiya spoke to GNN (translation by Rockman Corner) and said, “Right now we need to complete the development of Mega Man 11 and gather feedback after it has been successfully released. Regarding the massive spread rumours that Mega Man X9 is in development, there is no such thing.”

Are there currently any plans for Mega Man X9, at least? Tsuchiya replied, “I understand everyone is looking forward to the birth of an X9, but right now there is no way to verify. Of course, we can’t say we have been doing nothing; we are actively and carefully monitoring the reactions from our gamers.

“Actually, Mega Man 11’s birth is the result of the volume of voices from our gamers. The collection that came before it got very good results and feedback. This is a very convincing point, and helps back us up in striving for the approval of a new game development project.”

So long story short, if you want a new Mega Man X, picking up the Mega Man X Legacy Collection and letting Capcom know your thoughts is the best way. As for Mega Man 11, it’s out on October 2nd for PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC.

Nintendo Switch owners will finally get the chance to go hands on with all of the Blue Bomber’s classic adventures come May; true to their word, Capcom has announced that Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2– which collectively cover the ten numbered mainline games in the series- will be launching on the Switch this May, in one package.

The package will include a cartridge for Legacy Collection, as well as a download code for Legacy Collection 2; the games will also come with Amiibo support (presumably for the Mega Man Amiibo Nintendo and Capcom released as part of the Super Smash Bros. line).

The package will come fo a total of $40 physical; conversely, you can actually save yourself some money by getting the games off the eShop, with $15 for the first collection, and $20 for the second one (though you will miss out on the snazzy cleaning cloth that comes with the physical package if you do that). Mega Man Legacy Collection 1+2 are already variously out on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo 3DS; Switch owners get the chance to catch up with the franchise ahead of the launch of Mega Man 11 later this year, as well as the Mega Man X Legacy Collection.

Coming in 2018, we'll be getting ports of all eight Mega Man X titles and a new Mega Man.

During its Mega Man 30th anniversary celebration stream, Capcom dropped a number of new game announcements. First, it confirmed that all eight Mega Man X titles would be coming to the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2018. It hasn’t stated whether they will be included in a single collection or available separately but we can certainly hope for the former.

However, Capcom also revealed that Mega Man 11 would be releasing in late 2018 for the Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox One and PS4. This will be more in the style of old-school Mega Man titles but with a shiny coat of current gen paint. Check out the first gameplay trailer below.

If that weren’t enough, Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 and 2 will also be coming to the Nintendo Switch in Summer 2018. Mega Man Legacy Collection is already available for the Nintendo 3DS as of 2016. Whether both collections will arrive for the Nintendo Switch remains to be seen.

Almost 30 years later and still just as blue and as bombery as ever.

Born in the golden age of the original Nintendo Entertainment System, Capcom introduced us to the blue bomber himself, Mega Man. A tight controlled platformer game with incredibly, intricate level design, nasty-hard bad guys and bosses, blood pumping hard difficulty, and, of course, awesome abilities.

Originally conceptualized and created by Akira Kitamura, Mega Man was the anti-Super Mario Bros. It was difficult, unforgiving, and often, very cruel with its tremendous gaps and “just short” jumping ability. Mega Man was a game that brought forth legends; separating the boys from the men.

"A criterion of originality, the Mega Man Legacy Collection captures the first six Nintendo games all in their original format for a great, low price."

As time went on, Mega Man 3 – 6 followed, and still upon the original Nintendo, for many more years. But gamers had moved on to Super Nintendo a year to two years prior to Mega Man 6’s release in 1993, bringing a close to the golden age of 8-bit gaming for the series. Mega Man proved so much a success, however, that it survived and continued to expand to Super Nintendo with Mega Man 7 – 8 in much newer, and a much improved graphics style; while still maintaining its gruelingly hard, but brilliant level design. Spinning off onto many different consoles and into many different directions and series’ such as Mega Man X, and Mega Man Battle Network, it felt as though Capcom wasn’t confident in which direction to take Mega Man any longer and ignored the blue bomber for many years. Capcom returned to the blue bombers roots years later in 2008 with the triumphant return to 8-bit platforming in Mega Man 9. Then two years later followed up by Mega Man 10.

Still, nothing outshines those original, six classic games from the 80s. And Capcom has ushered in what they’ve called the Mega Man Legacy Collection. A criterion of originality, the Mega Man Legacy Collection captures the first six Nintendo games all in their original format for a great, low price.

"Taking a cue from Rare Replay, Capcom added a Challenges mode in their own style. Mixing different levels and groups together, play as Mega Man through several miniature challenges to beat the par time given at the start."

However, this isn’t the first Mega Man compilation released in the past decade, and possibly not the last. Strictly released as a digital download, Mega Man Legacy Collection tries to shine with its original charism, but falls short of a truly “here and now” pinnacle in Capcom’s history. All six Mega Man games play exactly like they did on the original Nintendo. The controls feel as tight as ever (albeit the jump is as sluggish as any NES game of its time). Memorable level designs are still, so brilliant. And that 8-bit, colored palette that screams 80s, along with the infamous story arch of Dr. Willy and Mega Man continue to hold true through the decades.

Along with the six, uber, nostalgic games comes a small batch of extras on top. A Music Player, which showcases each game’s original soundtrack that includes all the stages; boss fights; opening and closing credits; and much more, is accessible right at the main menu. A collection of concept art of various characters, and booklet art is immediately available to view in what’s called the Museum. As well as a simple Database that introduces each character from their
respective games in a short paragraph form.

Taking a cue from Rare Replay, Capcom added a Challenges mode in their own style. Mixing different levels and groups together, play as Mega Man through several miniature challenges to beat the par time given at the start. These challenges can range from level-skilled accomplishments to boss battles, and include around 50 different levels in all. This is fun, and challenging, but after the six (nearly 30 years old) games, assortment of challenges, music and concept art there really isn’t much more.

"For those new, or who’ve never, really gotten in to the Mega Man franchise, Mega Man Legacy Collection is a fun, colorful, light hearted platformer, with a good amount of difficulty and definitely worth the asking price."

Where Rare Replay really shined over Rare’s 30 year life span, introducing several different categories, with remixes, challenge modes, documentaries, and a rewind button (thank you, Rare!!), Mega Man falls completely short. Though this is not considered an anniversary edition, it is a bit unfair to fully compare these six-games-in-one to Rare Replay. But it’s hard to ignore, as Rare Replay really allowed us to see what was possible and incredibly affordable all in one bundle.

For the asking price of $14.99, however, Mega Man Legacy is a must buy for six incredibly challenging, but ultimately, fun games. And playing this on the Xbox One allowed me to generate great dashboard backgrounds from the forementioned concept and box art gallery by snapping a picture with the Xbox One screen capture.

For those new, or who’ve never, really gotten in to the Mega Man franchise, Mega Man Legacy Collection is a fun, colorful, light hearted platformer, with a good amount of difficulty and definitely worth the asking price. Even though it doesn’t express how proud Capcom are of themselves as much as Rare did, what is given is better than nothing. I only wish Capcom would have added Mega Man 7 through 10, effectively making this Legacy a true Legend.

Wii U and Vita killed Capcom's dog.

Capcom may not be too keen on releasing actual new Mega Man games, but as the last few weeks have shown, they have absolutely no issues exploiting the massive amounts of nostalgia that fans harbor for the series by re-releasing older games. And so, there is the Mega Man Legacy Collection.

Developed by Digital Eclipse, Mega Man Legacy Collection purports to be a celebration of the 8 bit glory days of Capcoms mascot, featuring the original six Mega Man games, all in one package. It will be releasing on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC later this Summer, while Nintendo’s 3DS will get it in the winter. Hilariously enough, the PS Vita and Wii U don’t get the collection at all, as much as that does not make sense.

Mega Man Legacy Collection will cost only $15, and it will be available on all platforms as a digital download (no retail release is planned). It will feature new ways to experience the classic games with the Museum Mode and new Challenge Mode. Challenge Mode remixes gameplay segments from all six games, with plenty of scaling difficulty objectives for experienced players to conquer yet serving as a good starting point for new players, too. Museum Mode contains a comprehensive collection of history, high-res art and original concept pieces – a mega treat for any fan of Mega Man and video game history.

Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage.

Capcom will have a collection of playable games for the upcoming expo.

Just days before the E3 madness threatens to take us all, Capcom has announced its line-up for the show and confirmed that all games will be playable in some way or another.

The biggest titles to be heading to E3 include Street Fighter 5, which will have new details and gameplay showcased along with a tournament stage, and Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster. E3 2015 will mark the first time that the latter will be playable so attendees can take it for a spin and see if it matches up to other recent remasters.

Mega Man Legacy Collection will also be worth a look especially given its bundling of six top-tier Mega Man titles for the price of one. Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition will also be present just before its release and will offer new gameplay footage along with a playable demo.

E3 2015 is looking pretty packed at this point. What are your thoughts on Capcom’s line-up? Let us know in the comments.
