By downloading the Xbox App, Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can access "hundreds" of cloud-supported titles on their Smart TV.

As insider Tom Henderson reported recently, Microsoft is partnering with Samsung to bring its Xbox app to 2022 Samsung Smart TVs. This will allow for accessing “hundreds” of titles in the Game Pass Ultimate library on one’s TV without a console (with Fortnite not requiring a subscription). The app will be available on the Samsung Gaming Hub/Media Hub on June 30th. Just log into your existing account, connect a Bluetooth controller and start playing.

Microsoft also announced it’s bringing the Xbox Cloud Gaming beta to Argentina and New Zealand. Along with playing Game Pass titles via the cloud on Apple and Android devices, Windows PCs, Xbox platforms and Samsung Smart TVs, Fortnite will also be accessible without a subscription.

Windows 11 is also getting some updates for gaming like optimization for windowed games to improve latency, auto HDR and Variable Refresh Rate (which the Windows Insider program is currently testing). An HDR calibration app for improved accuracy and a Game Pass widget to discover games are also coming. There will also be a Controller Bar for game launcher shortcuts, recent games played, accessing cloud games without a mouse and keyboard, and more.

Finally, Microsoft Edge is receiving some Xbox Cloud Gaming integration like a new personalized home page for gaming; built-in Clarity Boost when playing cloud titles in the browser; Efficiency Mode for improved performance on Windows 10/11 while ensuring reduced resource usage by the browser; and more. Stay tuned for more details when these features go live.

To work on services like HoloLens and Microsoft Edge.

Former creative director for Kinect Kudo Tsunoda has departed from the Xbox group and is now working with the Windows App Studio to further the development of apps across the company’s different devices and services (including HoloLens and Microsoft Edge).

An unnamed Microsoft rep told GameSpot that, “On the heels of the successful release of the November update for Windows 10 and the New Xbox One Experience, Microsoft added two new members to the Windows and Devices Group Leadership Team.

“Kudo Tsunoda [joins] as CVP Windows Apps Studio and Chuck Friedman as CVP Windows Shell Program Management. These changes will help Microsoft continue to deliver great experiences on Windows 10 and devices, including Xbox, Surface and HoloLens.”

It should be interesting to see what this means, especially considering the company’s de-emphasis on Kinect, so stay tuned for more information and in the meantime, let us know what you think in the comments below.

The Windows 10 exclusive browser will be heading to Xbox One.

Microsoft Edge, the Windows 10-exclusive web browser that replaced Internet Explorer, will be heading to the Xbox One thanks to the New Xbox One Experience. This was confirmed by the developer on Twitter, though it wasn’t revealed whether it would update would include the browser at launch or later.

Along with Edge, the New Xbox One Experience will offer a vastly improved user interface experience that’s faster, sleeker and full of new features like a revamped home interface and Guide, and backwards compatibility for Xbox 360 games. Edge would make a great addition to the equation, especially since Internet Explorer on Xbox One – which is a custom version of the software – could be better.

The question here is whether Edge on Xbox One will be a custom solution, especially when you consider that Windows 10 on Xbox One is essentially a heavily customized version of the OS which Microsoft refers to as OneCore. Regardless, stay tuned for more information – the New Xbox One Experience arrives in November.
