Take a look at the combat and environments in the upcoming Western MMO.

612 Games caused a stir several months ago with Wild West Online when a “leaked” screenshot led many to believe it actually being Red Dead Redemption 2. However, we finally get a look at how the actual gameplay for the MMO looks. At least, the pre-alpha gameplay. Check it out below.

The footage showcases the combat, activities and environments and there’s a real Red Dead vibe behind it all. At this point, it looks pretty good but we’ll have to wait to see how Wild West Online actually runs before drawing any conclusions.

Wild West Online can actually be pre-ordered to gain access to the closed alpha and beta. Pre-order bonuses will include saddle, weapon and horse skins, with the offer ending on July 20th. What are your thoughts on the pre-alpha footage and how the game is shaping up? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more information on the game in the coming months.

As if the numerous media properties and pre-order bonuses for Final Fantasy 15 weren’t enough, Square Enix has announced the development of a Final Fantasy 15 MMO for mobile devices. The mobile version will be developed by Machine Zone of Game of War: Fire Age fame.

The mobile MMO will use “the characters, storyline, and sountrack from Final Fantasy 15 with Machine Zone’s technology” according to Square Enix. It will be more along the lines of Game of War: Fire Age and Mobile Strike, Machine Zone’s other titles, rather than something like Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn. Considering the former two titles are fairly successful for Machine Zone, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda noted that, “Machine Zone has a stellar track record in the mobile gaming space, and we are putting Final Fantasy 15 in trustworthy hands. We are very excited to work with the MZ team to bring together two leaders in the gaming world and look forward to Final Fantasy 15 on MZ’s amazing gaming platform. We’ll work together to create MZ’s next great global mobile MMO game.”

Meanwhile, Final Fantasy 15 is slated to release on November 29th for Xbox One and PS4.

Valentine's Day is the date of separation for the single-player campaign and main game.

Cloud Imperium Games’ Star Citizen still doesn’t have a release date but on Valentine’s Day, its single-player campaign Squadron 42 will be separating from the main game.

As announced in December, the campaign module will be sold as its own product on February 14th. It should be noted that you can still pick it up as an add-on to the overall package. If you don’t care about the online MMO aspect, this may be the approach for you.

Otherwise, you can pledge a certain amount of money towards the game’s crowd-funding campaign and receive both modules, thus saving some money in the process. As of now, there’s no information on when the full game or Squadron 42 will be releasing.

What are your thoughts on Squadron 42 releasing separately from Star Citizen on February 14th? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more information on the same in the coming days.

Prepare to view Nexus in a new light.

Carbine Studios’ WildStar will be going free to play later this month as part of the Reloaded update and along with changes to its payment model, the MMO will also be receiving a fair number of visual changes.

The biggest improvements will be made to the game’s lighting. According to the development team, the number of light sources in each environment is being increased for added realism. “We’ve also added effects such as the rays from an otherworldly star – or a glow from a campfire – that all go into bringing the look and feel of an environment together.

“While still fairly time-intensive, it’s allowing us to make some dramatic improvements to the visual quality of the game without needing to touch the already high-quality models and textures in the game.”

Thus far it looks pretty good and we can’t wait to try out the full free to play version on September 29th. Your thoughts? Let us know in the comments below.

MMO built on CryEngine will run at full HD.

While most MMO’s are generally considered to be falling out of favour with most gamers, it’s still a large portion of gaming that exists and continues to thrive. With that in mind, PS4 gamers can look forward to the upcoming, exploration based, combat free indie developed MMO Wander which is set to drop later this month or possibly early in May.

Speaking about the resolution and frame rate, the developers have said, “We love working on PS4. The control options are great and having a fixed system makes testing a lot easier. There are some challenges compared to PC, mostly involving paperwork but Sony are great to work with. Wander is a slow moving game, so better looks are more important than high frame rate for us, so it’s 1080P@30FPS.”

In regards to the games release date, it would appear that they want you playing Wander sooner than later, “We’re aiming to release on Steam and PS4 in late April-early May, but that’s as specific as I can get at the moment!”

With the game running on the CryEngine, the developers have praised it for delivering what they need, “It’s a great choice for producing a dense, beautiful rainforest. Rainforest are hard work for rendering. Obviously Unity and UE4 have some great advantages but so does CRYENGINE.”

it's nearly time to wage war again marine, get ready for the drop.

As we’ve previously reported on, Planetside 2’s Beta sign ups started back in December and that the anticipated Beta was set to launch this month despite having been delayed. Well at last you can finally get some information on the matter, just not as soon as you would have hoped for because the release of the beta still hasn’t been given.

But it will be arriving some time this week, so rejoice my fellow space marines. It’s all wrapped up and ready to go as of now following an announcement, by way of twitter, from John Smedley who confirmed that SCE had cleared it with their certification process. He said,” it was approved first pass and goes up either the week of the 13th or 20th. We will know when we are back on the 5th.

This was followed up in the late hours of Monday this week when he Smedley said, “we will be announcing the beta start date in the next few days for Planetside 2 on PS4.”…”the announcement will also explain our rollout plans, etc.”

The MMO fps shooter has been in the pipe for a long time, despite being one of the first titles announced as coming to the PS4 as a port of the PC build. Let’s hope that the long development time has been spent refining the game and that is doesn’t drop as a mess.

Carbine Studios’ WildStar is joining in on the Black Friday celebrations (or sales rampage, whatever one would like to call it) by discounting its Standard and Deluxe Editions by 50 percent.

If you head to the game’s official store, you’ll be able to pick up the Standard Edition for $19.99 and the Deluxe Edition for $27.49. The game is subscription-based though so be prepared to fork over money for that down the road (though there are several alternatives to purchasing game time like CREDD).

The discounts will be running for a short time so grab them while you can. WildStar has already seen several content drops in the past few months with the latest one adding a brand new story for single-player gamers, fixes, new Zones and much more. Let us know what you think of the deal in the comments and stay tuned for more Black Friday discounts in the coming days.

Trion Worlds has been on fire lately with updates. First its free to play fantasy MMO Rift received the Nightmare Tide expansion and now online shooter Defiance has received the Aftermath update following the conclusion of season 2 for the TV series. Check out the trailer above.

The Aftermath will add a bunch of new story missions along with some new enemy types and other goodies to justify your time. Defiance went free to play earlier this year for all platforms so now’s as good a time as ever to get in on the third person shooting.

Defiance is set in the future on Earth and focuses on Ark Hunters who scavenge treasure and technology from alien ships. You’ll have to deal with the Votanis Collective, a race of aliens also inhabiting Earth in a shaky truce. What are your thoughts on the new Aftermath update?
Flex that muscle!

World of Speed, the Massively Multiplayer Online arcade racing game from Slightly Mad Studios may still be struggling to find purchase amongst gamers, but this hasn’t stopped them from moving forward with their plans to bring MMO racing to fans of the genre.

Today, the game has received a new trailer showcasing two of the most iconic muscle cars ever to have graced the roads. The Ford Mustang GT and the Chevorlet Camaro SS. Racing through the streets of the San Francisco area in a head to head, one on one race, the game makes good use of the tight city corners to showcase these vehicles being thrown about.

The long straights of San Francisco also allows the muscle cars to flex a bit and really get down to displaying some speed. In case you haven’t noticed, I quite like muscle cars. Much more than conventional racing vehicles anyway. So this suited me down to the ground.

GOTTA GO FAST! Without the open world.

Another racing trailer for you all, and wouldn’t you know it, we’ve apparently travelled back in time by two years because this one’s still using dubstep montages. Anyway, World of Speed developers, Slightly Mad Studios, have today released their newest gameplay trailer (seriously though it’s just a giant dubstep montage) for the upcoming free to play massively multiplayer online arcade racing game.

The trailer is titled Moscow Racing and you can look forward to not actually seeing that much of Moscow except for one or two exhibition shots and a brief example of a shortcut, because the rest of the trailer is (just like last time) a series of low slung camera angles and needless breaking and turning on empty roads.

Just like with the last trailer, I’m not hating on the game because it still is in Beta stages of development. But when your windscreen wipers move at like 6fps (see the 00:13 point of the video) and you need to include filters and effects to make the trailer somewhat watchable, but no more enjoyable, you make me more than just a little sceptical as to the final quality of the game.
