Fumi Games’ long-awaited rubberhose animation FPS MOUSE: P.I. For Hire is only a few days away, and we’re eager to experience its particular brand of slapstick noir. Of course, such an approach demands some stellar writing and voice acting, and a new trailer outlines exactly who’s who.

Headlining the cast is Troy Baker (Death Stranding, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle) as Jack Pepper, a soldier turned private investigator who ends up tumbling tail-first into the corruption surrounding Mouseburg. Wanda Fuller, the “resident” journalist of the city, is voiced by Florian Clare, who acted in The Strangers Chapter 1 and 2.

Tammy Tumbler, who assists Jack in upgrading weapons, is played by Camryn Grimes, whose resume includes roles in NCIS, The Mentalist, and even Swordfish. Then there’s Fred Tatasciore (Invincible, Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties) who plays John Brown and runs the Little and Big bar. Finally, Frank Todaro of Code Vein 2 and People of Note fame voices Cornelius Stilton, a politician who’s keen on helping Jack.

It’s an eclectic cast, and we can’t wait to see what role they’ll play throughout MOUSE: P.I. For Hire when it launches on April 16th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Check out our feature for more details in the meantime.

Sales of the PS5 family of consoles in Japan for the week ending on April 5th were comparable to Xbox Series X/S console sales.

The worldwide price hikes for PS5 and PS5 Pro have seemingly hit the Japanese market particularly hard. As caught by PushSquare, the latest hardware sales data from Japanese publication Famitsu indicates that only 840 units of the PS5 Pro and 558 units of the PS5 (with disc drive) were sold in the week ending on April 5th. Interestingly, the PS5 Digital Edition has continued to do decently in the country, with 12,141 units sold in the week.

This means that, in total, the PS5 family of consoles saw 13,539 units sold. The number is dwarfed by the Nintendo Switch 2, which sold 59,543 units in the same week.

The triple-digit sales figures of the PS5 and PS5 Pro in Japan bring the consoles surprisingly close to the Xbox Series X/S. In the same week, the Xbox Series X sold 803 units, while the Xbox Series S sold 129 units. This brings the total number of Xbox consoles sold in Japan in the same week up to 932 units.

When it comes to lifetime sales, the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold 5,011,059 units in Japan since its launch. The PS5 console family, on the other hand, has sold 7,500,537 units since 2020. Xbox Series X/S, comparatively, hasn’t yet cracked a million, having only sold 696,936 units so far.

It is worth noting that the PS5 has gotten quite a bit more expensive in Japan, with the base model now priced at ¥97,980. The PS5 Pro is the most expensive Sony console available right now, with its ¥137,980 price tag. The relative success of the PS5 Digital Edition likely comes down to the fact that there is a more affordable Japan-only version of the console, priced at ¥55,000.

Japan hasn’t been the only country affected by these price hikes, however. The US, UK, and Europe have seen the base PS5’s price go up to $649.99/£569.99/€649.99, up from $549.99/£479.99/€499.99. The PS5 Digital Edition has gotten more expensive as well, priced at $599.99/£519.99/€599.99. Even the game streaming handheld PlayStation Portal hasn’t escaped unscathed, with its price going up to $249.99/£219.99/€249.99. The PS5 Pro was the hardest hit, now priced at $899.99/£789.99/€899.99.

“We know that price changes impact our community, and after careful evaluation, we found this was a necessary step to ensure we can continue delivering innovative, high-quality gaming experiences to players worldwide,” said Sony when it announced prices going up, which came into effect on April 2nd.

Interestingly, Sony’s recent moves to raise the prices of its consoles have led analysts to believe that Nintendo will be following the PlayStation-maker’s lead to do the same thing with the Switch 2. While Nintendo hasn’t yet made any announcements, analysts have noted that rising memory costs will inevitably lead to the company needing to recoup some of its costs through a price hike.

Notably, even a former Nintendo sales lead has expressed similar sentiments. “Unfortunately, I think eventually the hardware price is going to have to go up,” he said. “I think that there’s things that they can and seem to be doing to try and mitigate that, but I also look at this move on software, if I’m reading it correctly, as a way to make a hardware price increase a little bit more palatable.”

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy has been rated PG-12 in Taiwan thanks to the presence of violence and inappropriate language.

Five years after the original release of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch (via cloud), it looks like the title is now also making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2. While there hasn’t yet been an official announcement for the port, it has been rated by the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee, as spotted by Gematsu.

The listing doesn’t yet mention a launch date, noting that one hasn’t yet been approved, but it does mention that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy on Nintendo Switch 2 will be rated PG-12 thanks to the presence of violence and inappropriate language.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy puts players in the shoes of Peter Quill / Star-Lord, who happens to be the leader of the eponymous group. The story takes place some time after a major event called the Galactic War, which involved Thanos and the Chitauri. The roster of the Guardians in this story—notably separate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe—will be familiar to fans of the films, and includes Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Gamora, and Drax the Destroyer. For more details, take a look at our review from back when it first came out.

As of November 2022, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy had gotten more than 8 million players across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. CEO of Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal, Phil Rogers, said that the game being available through Game Pass and PlayStation Plus helped with player engagement quite a bit. “I’ve actually just landed back from a few days in Montreal,” he said at the time. “There’s great pride in the team about the game they’ve made, and there’s also great excitement now about how we drive it commercially within our own business unit.”

It is worth noting that, despite getting a positive critical reception, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy seemingly failed to hit internal sales targets. However, in 2023, Disney’s head of gaming, Sean Shoptaw, said that the company would be happy to work with the studio again. “Games are really hard to make,” he said. “If you’ve got great IP. If you’ve got a great story. You know, it’s still a challenge.”

The discovery of the Nintendo Switch 2 port listing comes just a few days after developer Eidos Montreal was hit by major layoffs. The studio announced that 124 of its employees were being let go, and studio head David Anfossi would be leaving as well.

“The reduction in workforce affecting 124 employees is a result of changing project needs and impacts across production and support teams. Today is a difficult day for our studio and reflects the need to adapt and concentrate efforts where Eidos-Montréal can be most effective,” wrote Eidos-Montréal in its announcement.

“Also, after many years as Head of Studio, David Anfossi and Eidos Montréal are also parting ways. We thank David for his contributions and wish him the best in his future endeavors. A transition plan is underway, and further updates will be shared as new leadership is finalized.”

Professor Layton and Luke team together in the industrious town of Steam Bison to solve the "most puzzles in series history."

After lying dormant for roughly a year, Level-5 finally revealed new details and gameplay for Professor Layton and the New World of Steam. It’s out this year for Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, with PlayStation 5 and PC also joining the platform line-up.

As showcased during the Level-5 Vision 2026 Craftsmanship stream, the Professor and his assistant Luke reunite after a year apart in Steam Bison, America. While the town is in the midst of an industrial revolution, heavily pushing steam tech, there are more than enough mysteries. A phantom gunman stalks the streets, and Elida, an heiress, has been kidnapped.

Whatever may be going on, players can expect the biggest collection of puzzles in the series to date. These range from plotting escape routes to side-scrolling platforming, but fans can look forward to numerous other features, including full 3D cutscenes, mouse support on Switch 2, a Coin Radar, and “updated movement.”

And while it’s touting a fair amount of challenge with its puzzles, you can enable hints and even take notes to keep track of details via the Memo. Adding to the already slick presentation is the theme song, which is composed by the legendary Joe Hisaishi, best known for Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Ni no Kuni 2, and more.

Stay tuned for more details and a concrete release date in the coming months, especially as development nears completion.

In a press release, Perp Games CEO Rob Edwards said that developer Project Cloud Games needed some extra time to polish the game.

While developer Project Cloud Games and publisher Perp Games had previously announced a May 26th release date for action RPG The Relic: First Guardian, the companies have now announced that it is getting pushed back to “later this summer.” In announcing the delay, Perp Games CEO Rob Edwards referred to the in-development title as being “highly ambitious” and noted that the team needs some more time to polish it up.

“The Relic: First Guardian is the first game made by the talented Project Cloud Games studio,” Edwards said in a press release. “It’s a highly ambitious title that has seen years of hard work poured into it. Given this, the team wants to take just a little more time to polish their world and hence announce that we are pushing back the release date from May 26th to the summer of 2026.”

“Perp Games and Project Cloud appreciate your patience as we use this extra time to get every detail right and deliver an experience that meets the high standards of the community. We are excited to show you The Relic: First Guardian when it’s ready, which won’t be long now.”

This delay comes just a month after Perp Games VP Mickey Torode announced that, along with coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, The Relic: First Guardian will also be making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2. However, the port, which Torode called “an ambitious, technical milestone,” will be coming out later in the year.

“Receiving the green light from Project Cloud Games to launch The Relic on Nintendo Switch 2 is an ambitious, technical milestone for the title, and we’re excited to be able to finally share the news…We wanted to get the game into the hands of Switch 2 players, as we know the Nintendo Switch 2 community has a deep passion for challenging RPGs. We’re looking forward to revealing more in the future,” he said.

The Relic: First Guardian was announced all the way back in 2021, and Project Cloud Games has continued its slow trickle of reveals leading up to the Soulslike’s release this year. The game takes place in the world of Arsiltus, and its story is inspired by Korean folktales, all wrapped around a central narrative that revolves around saving Arsiltus after it gets fractured by the void.

In February, Project Cloud Games released a trailer for The Relic: First Guardian, giving us a look at one of the many Korean folktales it will showcase: The Heavenly Maiden and the Woodcutter. The trailer gave us a glimpse at some of the dark themes that will make up many of the game’s stories, and provides some background on the folktale before showing off what seems to be a boss fight against a twisted version of the eponymous maiden.

As you wait for the new release date for The Relic: First Guardian, take a look at the combat gameplay trailer, which was released all the way back in September. Also, take a look at our thoughts on how was shaping up a couple of years ago.

As a new, mysterious Belmont, players will traverse 1499 Paris to stop the rise of monsters and presumably slay Dracula.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, the first 2D side-scroller in the series since Order Ecclesia, received a new trailer during the Triple-i Initiative Showcase. It didn’t offer a release date, sadly, but there is plenty of new gameplay, including some familiar historical figures. Check it out below.

Alongside combat, it also offers a better look at the platforming, like wall-jumping to avoid traps. You can even turn them against your foes, bringing a chandelier down to crush them. And yes, there is leveling. Who is “The Fallen” and why do they vaguely resemble Alucard? Perhaps we’ll find out in due time.

Announced at the last State of Play, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse takes place in 1499 Paris. While Trevor Belmont has a role, players will actually control his successor as they utilize the family heirloom Vampire Killer to hunt down monsters. It’s also useful for swinging from objects, grappling towards enemies, and much more, adding a greater degree of mobility than previous titles.

Unlike Evil Empire’s previous work on Dead Cells and The Rogue Prince of Persia, this isn’t a rogue-lite. You’ll explore various biomes within the Metroidvania gameplay loop, unearthing secrets, solving puzzles, and more. Of course, there will also be bosses to battle, including familiar threats like Death. Stay tuned for even more updates on the franchise, especially with Konami teasing that it isn’t the only new entry in the works.

If you're looking to jump into IOI's origin story in style on May 27th, this new DualSense is surely the best way to do it.

007 First Light wouldn’t be a James Bond game if you weren’t being as stylish about your spying as you could manage, right?

Sony has had the same idea, and the results of that train of thought have led to the announcement of a very stylish limited edition of the DualSense controller. It’s a lovely shade of gold, a not-so-subtle homage to Goldfinger, with the game’s logo emblazoned on the touchpad. We’re quite excited to see one out in the wild, as it’s a design that’s quite catchy (and hopefully not as susceptible to drifting).

It’s definitely something Bond would use if he were to break the fourth wall and play the beginning of his tryst with MI6 himself. Of course, he’d probably appreciate precision, especially when having to use every tool at his disposal in a title intent on making the player feel as much like Bond as possible.

Pre-orders for the controller begin on April 16th, and it launches alongside the game on May 27th (although you’re going to have to wait a little longer to play it on the Nintendo Switch 2). There’s even a very cool trailer for the controller, which you can check out below.

FromSoftware's Switch 2 port of the open-world action RPG (and its expansion) could finally receive a release date in the near future.

After a sudden delay last year, FromSoftware may be preparing to announce a release date for Elden Ring on Nintendo Switch 2. Pre-orders for the Tarnished Edition, which includes the base game and Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, have appeared on Amazon for $79.99.

The date (December 31st, 2026) is clearly a placeholder, but the box art appears legitimate. It indicates that the release is on a Game-Key Card, which might be a dealbreaker for physical collectors. Then again, given the sheer size of the title alongside its expansion, a proper cartridge with everything on it would have been far out of reach for Bandai Namco. At least the full game download is only 75 GB, so there’s some silver lining.

Elden Ring Tarnished Edition was originally slated for 2026. However, after reports emerged of performance troubles, it was delayed. Alongside previous updates, the port includes new weapons, armor sets and mount customization options, which will be available to all platforms in a separate paid DLC. Check out our reviews for more details on the base game and Shadow of the Erdtree.

Besides bringing The Lands Between and The Land of Shadow to Switch 2 players, FromSoftware is also working on The Duskbloods, a PvEvP multiplayer title. It’s allegedly launching in late 2026.

It's a sublime blend of absurdity and grim noir so absurd that we can't wait to explore the world in Jack Pepper's shoes on April 16th.

We’re beginning to think that Fumi Games might have a banger on its hands with Mouse: P.I. For Hire, and it isn’t just because of that music video that dropped a few days ago.

An explosive new launch trailer is live, and it has us eager to see what Jack Pepper gets up to in a world that’s so absurdly over-the-top, its chaos is just a part of the fun. Mouseburg is already quite interesting on its own, and Jack’s corny one-liners are a perfect fit, reminding us of those old detective films with world-weary protagonists.

It’s a solid showcase of what the game is going to throw at you, from its investigations, combat, upgrade menus, and more. It promises about 12 to 20 hours of gameplay (depending on how you play) for just $30, and that’s not counting the post-launch expansion that was announced a couple of weeks ago. There’s a lot to feel optimistic about with this one.

As always, we’re erring on the side of caution and waiting until we get some time with it before we actually begin celebrating. Like all of you, we’ve been burned before. But we must admit that the trailer, showcased below, makes it pretty damn hard to keep our excitement in check. MOUSE: P.I. For Hire arrives on April 16th, so it’s not long before we can finally dive in.

It’s looking like this one could have spent more time at the gym before bringing itself to the arena, but there’s always hope!

Pokémon Champions is finally here, but it isn’t receiving the welcome it’s probably been hoping for. The game’s trailer, released earlier today, may have been quite entertaining; however, complaints have been quickly pouring in regarding performance and a lack of features that many from the competitive Pokémon scene would consider a given.

Popular leaker CentroLeaks slammed the release in a post on X, lamenting the poor Switch 2 performance (keep in mind that this is a Switch 1 game), a lack of popular Pokémon in a limited roster, not being able to automatically add friends over from your Switch list, and so on. “Tons” of competitive items are also missing and there’s no support for local wireless play. Others have since chimed in, with a 30fps lock on performance, along with tedious menus, standing out the most among all the other issues.

While there is hope from a section of the player base who expect additional Pokémon to make their way to the game, and potential fixes coming along, it’s still disheartening to see what could have been a serious contender for competitive Pokémon play get such a lukewarm response. Pokémon Pokopia, by comparison, has received a very encouraging response, one that now seems a little out of Pokémon Champions‘ reach.
