We’ve known about the existence of Cyberpunk 2077 for some time now, since its announcements a few years back, but Polish developers CD Projekt RED have been unnaturally quiet about the game ever since. Many have been suspecting that this year’s E3 would be the perfect stage to reveal proper new details on the game, but CDPR, it seems, are keeping their cards close to their chest.

In a recently held teleconference about the financial results of the first quarter of the current financial year (via Reddit), the developer was asked several questions about the upcoming E3. When asked about whether Cyberpunk 2077 will be at the show, they refused to answer, while when asked if they would be present at Microsoft’s E3 press event – as they have done in the past – they remained similarly tight-lipped.

In all likelihood, CD Projekt RED will indeed be showing off the highly anticipated RPG at this year’s E3. They’ve confirmed earlier that they will be attending the show, while recent speculation has hinted at an information blowout on the game in an hour-long behind-closed-doors event. As the days go by, it’s becoming clearer and clearer that Polish developers CD Projekt RED are gearing up for a proper premier and the subsequent build-up for their upcoming and long-awaited Cyberpunk 2077. Quite recently, we reported on how it was looking likely, based on their recent financial dealings, that the developer was preparing for a full-fledged marketing campaign on the game, and we now have an update that suggests that said marketing campaign is actually going to be a pretty large scale one.

During a conference call for the financial year’s first quarter, the developer mentioned that the marketing campaign for Cyberpunk 2077 wouldn’t be a “flash” one, and that it would actually be one that would generate hype and anticipation surrounding the game for a considerable period of time.

“We have high hopes when it comes to that title,” CD Projekt RED CEO Adam Kicinski and CFO Piotr Nielubowicz said of the upcoming RPG. “The campaign will surely be more expensive than in the case of Witcher 3, but it is too early to discuss the details… The closer we are to the premiere, the more precise our expectations become and then we know more or less how much we want to spend on promotion; this is the standard in the business.”

Though this remains officially unannounced, Cyberpunk 2077 is expected to have a major presence at E3 2018 in a couple weeks’ time, so expect to hear a lot more about the game itself, as well as its release date, in the coming days. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more updates.

CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077, their first new game since The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt brought them into the big league, is hopefully due out soon. But it ha been a long time coming, and anticipation for it has been running rampant- which I imagine some unsavory type thought to take advantage of, because speaking to shareholders recently, CD Projekt President and Join CEO Adam Kiciński revealed that the game had been victim of an asset theft last year- something that we had already known of, with the thieves holding the assets to ransom.

According to Kiciński, the asset theft led to CD Projekt RED to take action against the thieves, and that the company has become even more proactive about and dedicated to security now than it was before.

Thankfully, nothing was leaked- something like that may have done a lot of damage after all. CD Projekt RED are masters of their craft, who deserve to be able to show off the labors of their love on their own terms. Cyberpunk is due out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, presumably next year, with a reveal anticipated for this E3.
