Fuzziness FTW.

If you’ve ever stared at Riley, the AI dog companion in Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Ghosts (because lord knows there’s nothing better to do in the game) and wondered if he could be…furrier, then rejoice. Nvidia has released an update for the PC version of Ghosts which adds new PhysX changes and Fur Tech. Check out a video of Riley before and after the update to notice the difference.

This means that Riley’s fur will now dynamically react to surroundings and move about more realistically. Of course, it also applies to the enemy wolves you encounter and attack dogs used in multiplayer. Even AMD users will be able to access this feature, though the PhysX updates are exclusive to Nvidia cards.

Other changes include improved frame rate performance when on moving platforms, better latency on AMD cards, improved shader warming and level loading, crash fixes, additional animation for broadcaster mode and much. What are your thoughts on the same? Let us know below.

ARMA 3, Bohemia Interactive’s upcoming military shooter, looks pretty good – if you haven’t noticed the plentiful screenshots by now – and part of this is due to the massive scale of the game. Speaking to Project Lead Joris-Jan van‘t Land, we inquired about the engine behind ARMA 3 and how it differs from the second game.

van’t Land stated that, “Our proprietary Real Virtuality 4.0 engine powering Arma 3 is an evolution of the engine. There are several future-proof technologies that make it a big step forward. The key ones are definitely DX11 and PhysX.

“They will allow us to keep extending the platform even after the initial releases, not to mention the amazing mods we have no doubts will appear.”

Earlier, van’t Land stated that they’re continually optimizing the game ahead of its Q3 2013 release in order to maximize the number of players who can handle it. “We are constantly at work in this field and will keep doing so with new hardware and updated drivers,” he stated.

Because explosions. That's why.

NVidia has announced that Sony Online Entertainment’s wildly popular massively multiplayer online shooter PlanetSide 2 has finally received support for its PhysX Engine.

The game will now have hardware-accelerated PhysX effects and will add more particles that can interact with the environment during battles and just plain litter the battlefield. APEX Turbulence also reportedly uses velocity feidls to simulate realistic particle motion. So that bullet won’t just fly – it will fly with PhysX.

Since its release, PlanetSide 2 has seen its fair share of success despite only being available for the PC and delayed for several years. The game is currently free to play and allows players to join three different factions vying for supremacy over one another. Reportedly, about 2000 players occupy each area of the game, doing battle with each other.

This even helped inspire a war correspondent series, in which recordings of the battles taking place would be released by Sony. Needless to say, they were epic. Check out PlanetSide 2 today and witness the magic of PhysX while you’re at it.

Will most likely look even better than Crysis 3.

According to PCGamesHardware, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be taking things a notch higher and support Direct X 11 along with NVidia’s PhysX technology. So we’ll finally be getting a good look at features such as Tessellation (which was missing from the other Direct X 11 marvel Crysis 3), Global Illumination and MSAA.

And those screenshots posted recently? Yeah, that’s the game running on a DirectX 9 renderder. Expect the final result to look far, far more beautiful when it comes out in 2014 for PC, PS4 and next generation platforms.

But more interestingly, CD Projekt RED is going with NVidia’s PhysX over the more popular Havok Physics Engine. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing though – factors such as clothing, destructible environments, debris and water will be more realistically modeled. So if you haven’t picked up that latest GTX Titan card, now you have a good incentive for doing so.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will continue the story from the second game, and apparently feature a total of 100 hours of playtime. Check here more info.

We have some new details on Batman: Arkham City from PC gamer magazine. PC gamers waiting to play Rocksteady’s new game are in for a treat. The PC version of the game offers full 3D stereoscopic support and Physx.

“For the last trick, I’m given a pair of Nvidia 3D Vision glasses. Thanks to the high-altitude gliding and swinging, the depth effects of 3D really stand out in Arkham City, though it does make a dark game look that much darker. If you’ve already invested in a 3D monitor and a beefy Nvidia GPU, playing this game will make you glad you did.”

“In [the courthouse battle], the not-so-subtle PhysX enhancement causes a wooden wall to splinter as inmates are flung against it.”

“If you happen to be near a wall or rail, Batman transforms it into an instrument of justice by slamming a goon against it.”

Batman: Arkham City releases on October 21st on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360
