Microsoft is serving up another interesting range of free games for Xbox Live Gold subscribers in March 2019. As part of its Games With Gold service, Xbox One players will receive Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 and Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion for free. Xbox 360 owners will get Star Wars Republic Commando and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance for free.

Thanks to the magic of backwards compatibility, the Xbox 360 titles are also accessible to Xbox One players for a total of four free games. Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 is one of the bigger releases, featuring 40 characters and 12 maps in the base game (plus lots of additional content via free updates). Then there’s Star Wars Republic Commando, a beloved first person shooter set during the Clone Wars and focusing on an elite squad of Clone Troopers.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is worth a look for fans of PlatinumGames’ hack and slash gameplay. It’s a spin-off that sees Raiden trying to clean up the post-Patriots world. That means slicing other cybernetic warriors apart, piece by piece. Check out the trailer below for more information on when each game will become available.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is garnering positive reviews. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is revitalizing interest in the franchise. Even Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is pretty good. Heck, even among the exclusives for PlayStation 4, Spider-Man has been raking it in, and has a new DLC pack, The Heist, available now.

However, if you’re interested in playing some of the older titles on PS4 at a discount, then there’s good news- Sony will be adding 16 games to the PlayStation Hits line-up on November 2nd. That means older titles which have been successful enough will retail for $19.99, just in time for the Holiday season. The full list of games for November includes:

So if you’re interested in the PlayStation Hits version of the above, look for their special red packaging. Other titles that have been added to the line-up (for the United States) include Bloodborne, DriveClub, LittleBigPlanet 3, The Last of Us: Remastered, Uncharted 4 and much more. At $20, picking up titles like Mortal Kombat X, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, and Dragon Age Inquisition is a steal, if we’ve ever seen one.

The Crew 2

What’s baffling about Ivory Tower’s The Crew 2 is the strong focus on solo play. There are no PvP options nor can you challenge any driver you meet. However, the always-online addendum still applies since other racers (all seven of them) can occupy your instance. Considering the entire game is seemingly built for the solo player with very little unique group content or PvP, why did it have to be always-online?

EA and PopCap Games’ charming and colorful family friendly third person multiplayer shooter series, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare, may soon be getting a third entry. As is so often the case these days, a retailer listing seems to have leaked the existence of the game before it was announced.

Amusingly enough, this did not happen in the way that you might have expected it to- an Amazon listing was spotted for the upcoming Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare Volume 2 graphic novel, the description of which says that it will bridge the story of Garden Warfare 2 with the upcoming Garden Warfare 3– which, right there, indicates that a third game is inbound.

Of course, no official confirmation or announcement of the game’s existence has been made yet- but we should expect an announcement, presumably at E3, that this game is coming. Much like the previous installment, I expect it on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Last week, EA’s Play to Give initiative raised $1 million from PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center and Ditch the Label. To celebrate this support, EA is making some of its biggest games from last year playable for free across PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

“More than 5.7 million active players participated in the Play to Give in-game challenges from June 2-4,” said EA in a statement. “We were moved by your tremendous show of support.”

The games that will be playable across the three platforms are Madden NFL 17, FIFA 17, Titanfall 2, EA SPORTS UFC 2 and Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2. There will be certain caveats in place- on the Xbox One, you need an EA Access account to access these games. Meanwhile, on the PS4, a PS Plus account will be needed to access the multiplayer features of all of these games. The Plants vs Zombies trial will be limited to 10 hours, The Journey in FIFA will be 2 hours only (no restrictions on the other modes), Titanfall 2 seems to be limited to Gauntlet and the Beacon single-player content plus multiplayer features only, and the EA Sports UFC 2 trial is limited to 5 hours.

Even with the restrictions in place, that’s not bad at all- good on EA for doing a good thing with its charitable initiative, and good on them for allowing their biggest games to be playable for free, even if with limitations in place.

Popcap Games’ Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 has been out for several months and to probably entice more players to give it a try, EA has announced yet another free trial. On PS4 and Xbox One, the trial can be downloaded for ten hours and played however you’d like.

PC users will have the trial on August 16th and it will end on August 30th, 10 AM PDT/1 PM EDT/6 PM BST for all three platforms. If you like the game, you can pick it up for a 50 percent discount on PS4 and Xbox One (with PC expected to follow when the trial goes live).

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 has been out since February and has received a decent amount of critical acclaim, though there were plenty of issues with the multiplayer balancing (especially with characters like Rose and Imp). Xbox One and PC users subscribed to EA or Origin Access are in for a treat today – they receive not one but two free games in the Vault with Unravel and Need for Speed.

Unravel is Coldwood Interactive’s emotional platformer which received some good critical acclaim on launch while Need for Speed is Ghost Games’ latest title in the franchise which, despite its criticisms, is still a decent time-killer. To make things even better, EA has also announced that Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 will be arriving for both services on August 30th.

Trials for EA Sports titles are also incoming – Madden NFL 17 will arrive on August 18th, NHL 17 is due for September 8th and FIFA 17 will be available on September 22nd. Though these are timed trials, they’ll still be available to play several days before the game’s official launch.

EA Access is available for $5 per month or $30 per year while Origin Access is available for $5 per month.

Popcap’s Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 has received a whole bunch of new content with its newest update Trouble in Zombopolis: Part Two.

First up are Community Challenges which offer optional objectives you can complete during matches. Complete said objectives and you’ll net three chests full of rewards like coins, stickers and other items. It’s also possible to check your progress with the Progress-o-meter near Town Hall but you can also find all the relevant stats on the game’s website.

Then there are timed Delivery Challenges wherein players take control of a Rocket Chomper or Delivery Goat to deliver food. This turns the game into somewhat of a platformer/racer and you have to finish delivering before time runs out.

Along with new challenges, the update also adds boosts to characters like improving damage and rate of fire, adding new spawn points to maps and much more. You can check out the full of changes here for more information.

EA’s family friendly shooter Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 will be getting its Trouble in Zombopolis DLC this summer. The update will add Zombopolis, the biggest zombie city the development team has created so far, as well as a plethora of other additions and exciting new features.

“In the streets of Zombopolis, Dr. Zomboss and the zombies are plotting to build a Mega Zombot that, when charged, may put the fate of plant-kind in grave danger,” explains Wiebe.

“We’re also introducing two crazy new characters, Toxic Citron and Breakfast Brainz. Toxic Citron must emerge from the shadows of toxicity to save the plants from Dr. Zomboss, but before he does that, he must defeat the watchful bacon-caped crusader – Breakfast Brainz.”

In addition to all of that, it will also add over 1,200 new customization items for both, plant and zombie characters. Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

PopCap Games’ Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is ripe for playing, albeit for a limited time. The developer announced a new 10 hour trial for the game which allows players on PC, Xbox One and PS4 to try it out. This is the full game as well so if multiplayer isn’t your fancy then you can test out the campaign.

Along with Herbal Assault mode, which sees 24 players battling in PvP, players will be able to take part in Graveyard Ops, a four player co-op mode where Zombies have to defend against Plants. There’s tons of different unlocks including different character types, skins, cosmetics and much more.

It should be noted that the 10 hour time limit will only commence when the game is open. So if you want to maximize your time with the trial, make sure to quit out whenever you’re not playing. Any progress you make will carry over to the main game if you decide to buy it.
