First revealed and reported on by Gamingbolt just over a week ago, PlayStation Plus players can now enjoy a new suite of PlayStation Plus titles for the low, low price of free*.

For a quick reminder of what you can now check out as a subscriber, the service has now put up Batman: The Telltale Series, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided on PlayStation 4, The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 and Sacred 3 on PlayStation 3, and Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness and Uncanny Valley for the PlayStation Vita. In addition, PlayStation VR owners can check out Starblood Arena.

These titles will remain up for the run of January and likely be replaced on February 6, 2018 with a new selection, as is usually the case. Xbox One owners through Games with Gold can expect to enjoy The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing III, Tomb Raider Underworld, Back to the Future: The Game, Zombi, and Army of Two through the month.

Which selection wins January? Sound off in the comments.

Some new PS+ games to ring in the New Year

While we all work off that glorious food coma from the holidays (not to mention the New Years hangover), PlayStation Plus is going to have you covered wth several great new titles to check out in January.

Don the cape and cowl as Batman in the first season of Batman: The Telltale Series, which sees the aging Telltale engine give one last hurrah before they switch things up in a surprisingly gripping story that challenges not only Batman’s abilities as he tracks a dangerous criminal, but also challenges the very core of who Batman is (Our review here). Then rise above in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and see Adam Jenson fight against the impossible control of the Illuminati (Review here).

Both titles are available on the service as of January 2nd, giving you just enough time to recover from New Years festivities. Should you somehow still be spending significant time on the PlayStation 3 in 2018, they get access to The Book of Unwritten Tales 2, and get inflicted with Sacred 3 (Review). You three Vita owners can enjoy Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness and Uncanny Valley. VR owners can download Starblood Arena as well.

Sometimes bans are for a reason. These ones are not, they're just ridiculous.

Sometimes you’ll hear stories about someone angry because they were banned from a video game, maybe to thing to yourself “Well what did you expect, stupid?”. We don’t like admitting our flaws and that we made mistakes, and being a toxic factor online will usually earn you a ban. Sometimes though, players receive a ban for just really, really ridiculous reasons. These are 15 of those times.

Stream Sniping – Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds

While the PC gaming world is going wild for chicken dinners in Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds, some of the more creative among the player base have been taking advantage of streamers, and the fact that they’re pretty publicly broadcasting their position to their viewers. “Stream-Sniping” is the act of using a livestream to locate the broadcasting player in order to kill them. While it can be hard to prove, recently a streamer called Lotoe received a ban for it after a fateful match with other streamers, kicking off a rather large tiff that eventually saw comments from Battlegrounds community staff.

Keiji Inafune says "it's totally my fault".

Comcept’s Mighty No. 9, the spiritual successor to Mega Man which saw numerous delays after being successfully funded on Kickstarter, hasn’t exactly met with the greatest of praise by critics. It also didn’t help that a mistranslated statement from creator Keiji Inafune stating it was “better than nothing” began to circulate.

As it turns out, Inafune is actually taking full responsibility for the game’s problems. Speaking to Eurogamer, he said, “You know, I want to word this in a way to explain some of the issues that come with trying to make a game of this size on multiple platforms.

“I’m kind of loath to say this because it’s going to sound like an excuse and I don’t want to make any excuses. I own all the problems that came with this game and if you want to hurl insults at me, it’s totally my fault. I’m the key creator. I will own that responsibility.”

The work across numerous platforms has also been a stated reason for the game being delayed on so many occasions. Whether you enjoy the game or not – and many certainly are not – at least Inafune seems keen to learn from his mistakes. Stay tuned for more information on the matter in the coming days.

In a bid to make the franchise even more realistic, Electronic Arts is adding all-new narrative-driven features in FIFA 17’s story mode. Chief among these is, oddly enough, a dialogue wheel that brings Mass Effect to mind. While Bioware’s got their hands full with Mass Effect: Andromeda, EA’s decided to bring over one of that galaxy-trotting franchise’s highlight features to their…football game.

How exactly does that work? The dialogue wheel, a Mass Effect innovation, allows you to forgo full-length responses, opting instead for responding with a particular “tone.” In FIFA 17’s The Journey mode, the narrative centres around a young footballer named Alex Hunter.

But instead of having canned cutscenes, you’re given a degree of player agency by making Mass Effect-style dialogue choices as Alex interacts with the coach, his friends, and others. While we’re at it, let’s not forget that there’s a football game in their somewhere. EA’s also decided to switch over to the Frostbite 3 engine. While we’re not sure this will result in increased stand destructibility, FIFA 17’s visuals will be sharper than ever.

Thanks, EuroGamer.

Everything you need to know about Batman: A Telltale Games Series.

Batman: A Telltale Games Series is an adventure game being developed and published by Telltale Games in cooperation with Warner Brothers. It will be an episodic adventure that will have a branching storyline based on the choices players make. The game was announced in December of 2015 and while there isn’t a great deal known about the title, it has been announced that the first episode in the series will be releasing sometime in 2016.

3. Gameplay

4. Characters

Development

Telltale Games announced their version of the Batman legend at The Game Awards Show in December 0f 2015. The company later released a teaser trailer that is geared to set the mood of what the company has planned. During the announcement, Telltale Games shed some light on what they are expecting with this new title. “At Telltale, we’ve been honored to bring our unique approach to interactive storytelling to some of the biggest entertainment franchises in the world, and we’re excited to announce that we’ll soon be exploring what it means to be Batman in an all-new series starting next year,” Kevin Bruner, Co-Founder and CEO of Telltale Games said in an accompanying press release. “This iteration of Batman will give fans a first-hand opportunity to dive deeper into the complex life and mind of Bruce Wayne, the duality of his own identity, and the struggle of responsibility in saving a city overcome with corruption and villainy.”

The reveal trailer did not show any actual gameplay but did have footage that featured heavy, black ink pouring over pencilled images that formed into real identifiable shapes when filled in by the ink. Imagery like handguns, money, bullet-holed windows and dark city skylines were accompanied by Bruce Wayne apparently enjoying his playboy lifestyle.

Telltale games has said the game will appear on the same platforms their last few episodic adventure games have appeared on. That means this version of Batman will be available on the PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PC and mobile platforms as well. The game does not have an official release date yet but is expected to launch sometime in 2016.

Telltale has announced this game will be episodic as most of the rest of its games have been. Generally, games in this line are four to five chapters but the company has not yet said how many episodes Batman will be. The company has also hinted that this is not the official title of the game and there might eventually be something accompanying the Batman name. It seems as though the full title might divulge more information about the story so Telltale is keeping the information under wraps.

Story

There has been little information about what the story in this version of Batman will tell. The reveal trailer doesn’t actually show off any of the game play so we don’t know what villains Batman will be facing, or what time period the story is supposed to take place. During the reveal of the game, Telltale did say that Bruce Wayne, Batman’s alter ego would be dealing with the duality of his personality. This seems to indicate that a good deal of the game play will take place in the world of Bruce Wayne as well as Batman. The game did not divulge any of the enemies and villains that might be featured in the game. The voiceover in the reveal trailer does indicate that Batman already exists in some form, so it doesn’t appear this is going to be an origin story. The fact that he doesn’t appear to be an established identity in the city could mean the story is going to be taking place very close to when Wayne first started fighting crime.

Gameplay

There has been little information shared about what sort of gameplay will be included in this game, though the gameplay format has been roughly the same for the last few games Telltale has produced. In those games, players took the reigns of a couple of characters and went through a branching storyline. Decisions can be made as to how people want to carry out a conversation, as well as what sort of actions they want to perform. The battles in these games tend to allow players to decide how they want to go through them and in order to win them a certain button has to be pushed at just the right time. In other Telltale Games productions, there are certain decisions that will be “remembered” and these stand out more than others when it comes to deciding how a story is going to branch out. While none of this particular gameplay has been confirmed for Batman, it is a method which has been made for the company’s more successful games of the last few years.

Characters

The only specific character that is confirmed to be in the game is Batman and his alter ego Bruce Wayne. There are characters that are usually present in the Batman universe such as Commissioner Gordon and Bruce Wayne’s loyal butler Alfred that can be expected to be in the game. These characters have not been confirmed as making an appearance either. The company has not said whether this is a game that will have a number of villains all taking center stage at different points in the story, or whether there will be one main villain and a number of hired goons as his henchmen.

Note: This wiki will be updated once we have more information about the game

Keiji Inafune apologizes for third major delay.

Comcept’s Mighty No. 9 has faced another delay, it’s third till now, and will no longer be releasing in February.

Speaking to backers via Kickstarter, Keiji Inafune revealed that, “In preparation for the February release of Mighty No. 9 we have been working hard with our partners to resolve any network issues and porting work necessary to publish Mighty No. 9 on the various platforms. However, the issues relating to the network modes were more critical than expected, and it has become apparent that we will need to delay the game from its February 9 release date.

“We have been working up until the very last moment to resolve these issues in order to make the February release, but it has become clear that we no longer have enough time to fix the issues and have everything prepared for release.”

Since work on the engine is essentially locked, Inafune and his team have to implement these fixes for each platform separately. “Unfortunately, this is all a result of miscalculations on the part of us, the development staff. As a result, our fans who have been looking forward to Mighty No. 9 have been forced to wait for over half a year longer than expected, and for that we are sincerely sorry. I want to take this chance to apologize personally, and on the behalf of the development staff.

“Over the end-of-the-year-break and the beginning of 2016, the development staff has been working on these issues non-stop without break, and thanks to their hard work the end is in sight. We continue to make progress to resolve these last issues that have been holding up the release of the game on the different platforms.”

As of now, a new release date hasn’t been decided since the studio has decided to “wait and make sure everything is confirmed. For this 3rd delay of the game, we have no excuses for disappointing our fans and especially our backers once more. We want to take this chance to express our sincerest apologies to everyone who has looked forward to the release.

“We are all working hard to make sure that we can finish and release the game to all of our fans as quickly as possible, and ask once more for your support of this project that we have created together over these last few years.”

Thoughts on the delay? Let us know in the comments below.

As of this month, Plus games go live in both EU and US on the first Tuesday of the month (no longer Wednesday in EU), The first Tuesday in July is 7th July, hence why the games aren’t launching this week”

Development

The development of Ride was announced on September 15th 2014 by way of an official post on the games development website. It was in this post that the game was given its Spring 2015 release window.

The post stated that, “It is with great pleasure that we are able to publicly announce our first proprietary IP: RIDE. Milestone has worked hard over the last few years to get to the position we are in today, where we can compete with the major companies in the international gaming scene on an equal footing.”

Given that Milestone S.r.l. have an expansive back catalogue of racing games that include rally racing as well as motorcycle racing, it’s understandable that the announcement on the game’s website reads, “Milestone’s development studios in Italy are back at work, doing what they do best. The developers are tearing up the rulebook and bringing a raft of new ideas to the table. These are the developers who have become synonymous with the world of virtual racing.”

They then go on to talk about how this game is being, “created for the players”.

Marco Micallef, Director of Marketing and Sales with Milestone said, “After more than 15 years of hard work, we felt the need to develop something that would bring together all our expertise and encapsulate the Milestone DNA with respect to the world of motorcycling.”

Milestone developers thought it essential that players be able to customise their bikes. Talking about this in a FAQ, they’ve said, “Ride gives the player the opportunity to customise both the appearance and the performance of their bike. All the components are faithfully modelled on their real-world counterparts, and they are the same as the components sold in parts stores.”

Players can also customise their rider. “We have signed deals with the leading specialist motorcycle gear manufacturers, so we can offer a choice of hundreds of different models and colours (suits, helmets, boots and so on), the same as the ones in the official catalogues.”

Story

The game’s story portion comes in the form of World Tour mode, Ride’s main gameplay mode. The World Tour allows players to “participate in various Festivals around the world, divided into various categories: Superbike 1000, Supersport 600, Historic Championships, and so on.”

This game mode offers single races, championship races, time trials, track day, drag races, and endurance events that play out across different courses.

Gameplay

Gameplay in Ride is similar to what you would find in most other motorcycle racing video games. It offers simulation gameplay options for hardcore racing fans and purists of the sport, but it also offers more arcade like racing mechanics to make it more open to casual players, including braking assistance and turning assistance etc.

The small features are ultimately what impact gameplay the most. This includes tucking your body closer to the bike to help streamline the vehicle for higher speeds, leaning your body backwards and forwards on the bike and the ability to operate each brake individually, allowing for heightened control of the bike.

Players have access to Quick Race options for a quick racing session and Elite Trophies. Ride also supports online Multiplayer of up to 12 players. This online multiplayer support extends to Quick Race and Championships. There is also support for split-screen gameplay and each race is recorded on Leader boards.

There are over 100 bikes in the game and they range from bikes in production from 1987 to early 2014-2015 with each bike having its own unique specifications, including overall weight distribution, power, engine build etc.

There are 15 circuits in the game, which break down into country tracks (natural parks, mountain passes, etc.); city track (tracks winding through cities) and GP tracks which are actual renowned racetracks.

Bikes

This is the current list of Bikes in Ride, with more possibly to come as DLC rolls out.
