The first 91 days after Fallout's season 2 debut garnered 100 million for both seasons, while just the new season got 83 million.

With Amazon’s live-action adaptation of Fallout having wrapped up its second season last month, the company has now revealed that the show has been doing incredibly well for its Prime Video streaming platform. According to Screen Rant, season 2 of Fallout has garnered the second-highest viewership for a returning show so far. On the second season’s premiere, the show got 100 million viewers for both seasons in the first 91 days. When taking just season 2 into account, it got 83 million viewers in the same time frame.

This has placed both seasons of Fallout in the top four for all-time viewership for shows on Prime Video. Its second season went on to become Prime Video’s most-watched show in more than 80 countries in its first 91 days. The report has noted that around 53 percent of the audience was from outside of the US, living in countries like Germany, Brazil, and the UK. Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios, Peter Friedlander, celebrated the milestone in a statement.

“Fallout continues to resonate in a powerful way with our global Prime Video audience, and reaching 100 million viewers is a testament to the incredible creative vision of our collaborators at Kilter Films, Bethesda Game Studios, Geneva, Graham, and the entire cast and crew,” he said. “The show’s performance reaffirms this, with S2 now joining S1 as two of our top four biggest seasons we’ve ever launched. We’re thrilled to see the franchise continue to grow as we head into Season Three.”

Amazon’s has also seemingly done quite well with critics. According to reviews aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the show has gotten an average critic rating of 94 percent, and an average audience rating of 96 percent.

This success bodes well for Amazon and the showrunners behind Fallout, since the third season had already been greenlit last year. Back in December, executive producer Jonathan Nolan, along with creator and showrunner Geneva Robertson-Dworet revealed that the third season will start filming in Summer 2026.

“Well I say with regards to production, we’re hoping to be shooting again next summer,” said Nolan in an interview. “We’ll see if that all comes together. Best laid plans and all, but I’m excited that the scope of the show feels undiminished season-on-season. Geneva and Graham, our incredibly talented cast and crew were able to work quickly enough to get back on the air in a reasonable amount of time.”

“I think what’s happened with television in terms of taking longer and longer from season to season is an unfortunate trend. You don’t want the show to lose any of its scope, but we know that we like to be back on the air as soon as we can.”

Nolan and Robertson Dworet had also revealed a few other details about Amazon’s Fallout, including how they had planned to depict the iconic Deathclaws in the show. Ultimately, they came to the decision to use a combination of puppets for practical effect alongside using CGI for added details.

The second season of Amazon’s Fallout took the story to New Vegas. When this was revealed, many questions were asked about whether the show would pick an official cannon ending, since Fallout: New Vegas featured several different endings based on players’ choices. For more details on that, check out what actor Aaron Moten had to say back in November.

Hurst should be familiar to God of War fans thanks to his BAFTA-nominated portrayal of Thor in 2022's God of War Ragnarok.

Amazon has announced that its live action adaptation of Sony’s God of War series will star Ryan Hurst as protagonist Kratos. The announcement was made through a social media post, featuring a picture of Hurst alongside an older Kratos as he looks in 2018’s God of War and 2022’s God of War: Ragnarök. The developer of the God of War series—Santa Monica Studio—took to social media to celebrate the casting, noting that Hurst is joining the ranks of T.C. Carson, who portrayed Kratos in the older PS2 and PS3-era games, and Christopher Judge, who portrayed the character in the more recent titles.

“Congratulations to Ryan Hurst who will be stepping into the role of Kratos for the upcoming God of War live action series,” wrote Santa Monica Studio. “We’re excited to see his take on Kratos as he joins the legendary ranks of T.C. Carson and Christopher Judge who have each shaped this character in unforgettable ways.

Hurst should already be quite familiar to fans of the franchise since he had last shown up in God of War Ragnarök in the role of Thor, for which he had gotten a BAFTA nomination. As for his previous work, Hurst has played Gerry Bertier in Remember the Titans, and Opie Winston in Sons of Anarchy. Prime Video’s God of War adaptation is being produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios.

The production of the God of War series has seen its ups and down, culminating in it getting rebooted in October 2024. This coincided with the show getting a new showrunner, writer and executive producer in Robert D. Moore, who is known for his work on shows like Outlander, For All Mankind, and the Battlestar Galactica reimagining. A report last month also revealed that the first two episodes of the show will be directed by Frederick E.O. Toye, who has previously worked on The Boys and Shogun. Production has also been well underway, taking place in Vancouver.

How well this live action adaptation pans out remains to be seen. However, Amazon has been quite optimistic about it, having already greenlit a second season while the first one is still under production. Moore confirmed this in an interview back in March 2025.

“Right now I’m working on the adaptation of this videogame called God of War, it’s a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they asked me to come in, I’m literally in the writer’s room and that’s my new thing,” he said when asked about his plans for the future.

While not too many more details about the God of War series have been revealed, Amazon has confirmed that its story will be based on the 2018 game, with Kratos and his son Atreus setting off on a journey to spread the ashes of Kratos’ wife and Atreus’ mother, Faye. Much like the game itself, the story will also seemingly revolve around the themes of fatherhood, with Kratos focused on making sure that Atreus doesn’t grow up to be like the other mythological figures he has had to face during his time in Greece.

The series has been in production since March, and will serve as an adaptation of the 2018 title, with Cory Barlog serving as executive producer.

HBO’s The Last of Us adaptation will be premiering in a month’s time, but Sony has plenty more in the pipeline where adaptations of its gaming properties are concerned. A God of War TV series was confirmed to be in production earlier this year (alongside Horizon and Gran Turismo), and that has now been made fully officially.

As reported by Deadline, it’s been announced that Amazon Prime Video, Sony Pictures, and PlayStation Productions are co-producing God of War, which has now been officially given a series order. The series has been in production since March, and will serve as an adaptation of the 2018 title.

“When his beloved wife dies, Kratos sets off on a dangerous journey with his estranged son to spread her ashes from the highest peak—his wife’s final wish,” the series’ official description reads. “Kratos soon realizes the journey is an epic quest in disguise, one which will test the bonds between father and son, and force Kratos to battle new Gods and monsters for the fate of the world.”

Rafe Judkins, showrunner of Amazon Prime’s The Wheel of Time, will serve in the same capacity for God of War, while Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby – best known for The Expanse, Children of Men, and Iron Man – will be the show’s writers. Judkins, Fergus, Ostby, and SIE Santa Monica Studio’s creative director Cory Barlog – who, of course, directed the 2018 game – will also together serve as executive producers on the show.

Other executive producers include Playstation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan, Santa Monica Studio’s Yumi Yang, and Vertigo’s Roy Lee, while SIE Santa Monica Studio’s Jeff Ketcham will be co-executive producer.

“The God of War is a compelling, character-driven franchise that we believe will captivate our global customers as much with its expansive and immersive worlds as its rich storytelling,” says Vernon Sanders, head of global television at Amazon Studios. “We are honored to share in the adventure of exploring the God of War mythology in such a momentous way with Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, and Santa Monica Studio.”

“We are so proud and excited to be working with our friends at Amazon Studios and our partners at PlayStation Productions to adapt this beautiful and heartbreaking game into a premium live-action series,” says Katherine Pope, president of Sony Pictures Television Studios. “Rafe, Mark and Hawk are crafting a transportive series that charts a path through the ancient mythological journey of Kratos.”

“God of War is one of PlayStation’s most awarded video games, so we’re excited to partner with Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios to bring our beloved franchise to fans and new audiences in a bold and authentic way,” says Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions.

Over on Twitter, Cory Barlog has said “it will be a while” before we hear or see more about the series.

God of War (2018), available for PS4 and PC, has sold 23 million units to date. God of War Ragnarok launched for PS5 and PS4 in November, and sold 5.1 million units in its debut week, becoming PlayStation Studios’ biggest launch to date.
