After disappearing for a short while, Xbox One users can access the older versions again.

Bethesda launched DOOM, DOOM 2, and DOOM 3 during the opening keynote of QuakeCon 2019 for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PS4. The first two games even include all their previous expansions. It seemed like a nice surprise, until Xbox One players reported not having access to Xbox 360 versions of DOOM 1 and 2 via backwards compatibility.

Initially thought to be a means to push sales for the new versions, Bethesda confirmed that this was an unintended issue. It’s since resolved the same, and the Xbox 360 versions of both games can now be installed from the Xbox One dashboard as per usual. Proceed with your regularly scheduled massacre of demonic forces.

As for DOOM Eternal, id Software revealed tons of new details at QuakeCon over the weekend. It showcased Battlemode, the 2v1 multiplayer mode that pits two demons against one Slayer. The mode will have a number of playable demons and maps at launch, with more coming for free later. Furthermore, there will be a hub where the Doom Slayer can hang out. DOOM Eternal is out on November 22nd for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, and PC.

We have resolved an issue where the Xbox 360 releases for DOOM & DOOM II were inaccessible from the “Ready to Install” dashboard on Xbox One.

If you have previously purchased these Xbox 360 titles, you can now re-download them on Xbox One. Thank you for your patience.

Confirmed to be coming to the game last year, private servers are almost here.

In addition to four player Vault raids and a new map for Nuclear Winter, Fallout 76 will see private servers being added in the “near future”. Developer director Chris Mayer stated this in a recent round-table at QuakeCon. Project lead Jeff Gardiner further added, “They’re coming sooner than you think.”

Private servers were confirmed by Bethesda last year though whether mod support will be coming as well remains to be seen. Also, following the mess that Patch 11 caused Bethesda is looking into improving its current patch roll-out process. A public test server is one option that’s been discussed. “We are actively engaging in several measures to make sure that the builds that are delivered to you are the highest quality. Obviously, [a PTS] is one of them,” said Gardiner.

Fallout 76 will see its Vault raids starting on August 20th on a weekly rotation with players having the chance to earn “unique social rewards and armour recipes with a legendary set bonus” from their completion. Some additional quality of life features like display cases for loot in your C.A.M.P., improvements to event systems, and much more are also set for the coming months. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

Players can "learn a lot" about the Slayer "if you look for it" as per id Software's Marty Stratton.

The Doom Slayer isn’t always about ripping and tearing the demons of Hell apart. Sometimes, he just likes to kick back and with id Software’s DOOM Eternal, we’re going to see a hub of sorts for the anti-hero. During a panel for the game at QuakeCon, creative director Hugo Martin and executive producer Marty Stratton fielded questions from fans in the Slayers Club.

Following various points on how the Doom Slayer stays in shape, Stratton said, “Should we talk about the hub? Maybe?” Whether this was intended to be discussed or not, eventually Martin said, “You’ll see kind of, like, where he hangs out. Again, if you care. You’ll see how he spends his free time, and you’ll learn a lot about him through the game, if you look for it and pay attention.”

A social hub is the first thing that comes to mind, but DOOM Eternal is primarily a single-player experience. So instead, this hub could indicate a number of things – a place to view lore collected throughout the game, a shelf for the various potential trophies waiting to be discovered, a training room, etc. We’ll have to wait to find out.

In the meantime, id Software also talked about its 2v1 multiplayer Battlemode over the weekend. The various demons that players will control, post-launch plans and more can be read about here. DOOM Eternal is out on November 22nd for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia.

QuakeCon 2019 starts today and it’s kicking off with id Software’s DOOM Eternal. The hotly anticipated first person shooter will receive some new gameplay followed by a panel celebrating 25 years of the franchise. You can watch the keynote along with the reveal below starting from 9 AM PT today.

DOOM Eternal had its official gameplay reveal at last year’s QuakeCon, with Bethesda’s recent E3 presser showing even more. It was one of the sole highlights of the show and we also received more details on Battlemode, the new dedicated multiplayer mode. It pits two demons against the DOOM Slayer across three rounds to see who can win.

Releasing on November 22nd for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch, DOOM Eternal will also be coming to Google Stadia. Post-launch, players can expect two campaign DLCs via a Year 1 Pass to provide even more demon-slaying goodness. Stay tuned for more details from QuakeCon 2019 in the meantime.

Eternal leads the pack of Bethesda content at this year's Quakecon

The next installment in the legendary shooter series, DOOM Eternal, is coming at the end of the year. We’ve seen a decent amount of footage at this point, but we’ve yet to see a live demoing of the game on a stage. Well, fear not, for at the end of this month we will see ripping and tearing live at the annual QuakeCon event.

The event will feature several Bethesda and id Software related properties such as Fallout 76 and Rage 2, but undoubtedly the main event will be the first live demoing of Eternal. It is the Year of DOOM, after all, so the Doom Slayer will have his time to shine. You can check out the entire time table and schedule here, and there’s a fair warning there that this won’t be suitable for all ages. Indeed.

DOOM Eternal launches November 22 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, Stadia, and PC. QuakeCon 2019 will run from July 25-28. If you’re curious about the game’s unique take on the multiplayer formula, check through here for some interesting details.

The legendary franchise is the focus at this year’s QuakeCon.

Shortly after announcing their plans for E3, Bethesda have detailed plans for this July’s QuakeCon. This year will see the convention focus on the storied history of the long-run DOOM series. The official Twitter account of QuakeCon recently put up an update where it teased plenty of DOOM stuff at this year’s convention, while dubbing 2019 “The Year of DOOM“.

The newest installment, the upcoming DOOM Eternal, was revealed at last year’s E3 and was recently confirmed to be coming to Google’s newest streaming service Stadia. It is also slated to be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. Bestheda and id Software have yet to give a specific release date for the game, but with QuakeCon being a celebration of the franchise it’s hopeful we’ll see the game demoed and possibly a release date.
