Anthony Scott Burns, a Canadian DJ with over 30 years of experience, lends a heavy emotional tone to Screen Burn's latest.

Following its reveal and extensive coverage in February, Screen Burn Interactive’s Silent Hill: Townfall finally has a face, an identity and a discernible mood for fans to embrace. Thanks to the release of “Home” from the official soundtrack, it also has a composer, and no, it’s not Akira Yamaoka.

Instead, it’s Anthony Scott Burns, also known as Pilotpriest, and he is also a filmmaker. In fact, he’s been working on the latter for over three decades and has released six albums since 2012. One of those albums, “Trans,” has a distinct Electronic feel, but moodier, darker and more ethereal than you’d expect.

That influence is apparent in “Home” (minus the Electronic part). One commenter noted how there’s a hint of “Promise,” a famous Silent Hill 2 track, but it transitions into something heavier, backed entirely by a piano. The random sights and sounds of St. Amelia create a weightier impression.

Silent Hill: Townfall launches later this year for PS5 and PC, and according to Annapurna Interactive, it’s one of the biggest games it’s ever published. Director John McKellan describes it as “not only our biggest and most ambitious game yet, but as a love letter to the series.” Best Buy listed it for $49.99, but pricing has yet to be officially confirmed, so stay tuned for more updates.

In the meantime, head here to learn more about how Screen Burn is leveraging the first-person perspective to create a unique experience.

Previous entries such as Silent Hill 2 remake and Silent Hill f retailed for $70, though Konami has yet to confirm Townfall's pricing.

Annapurna Interactive, Konami and Screen Burn Interactive talked up Silent Hill: Townfall quite a bit after its State of Play reveal, but didn’t mention the price. While digital storefronts have yet to open pre-orders, Best Buy in the United States has listed the PS5 version for $49.99.

Which is interesting because Annapurna’s Leanne Loombe called it a “full-length, high-quality game” that the team could “present with confidence, following Silent Hill f and Silent Hill 2 [remake].” It’s also considered Screen Burn’s “biggest and most ambitious game yet,” according to writer and director Jon McKellan. Considering that the last two Silent Hill games retailed for $69.99, it’s interesting to see Konami going for a lower price point with Townfall.

Perhaps it says something about the length of the experience, but it would give a bit more credence to rumors of Townfall being part of an anthology of games. If other indie developers joined the initiative to deliver their own titles, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Konami bundle them all into one package. Then again, it may just be because this is a new IP in the franchise without any prior connections, but it doesn’t explain Silent Hill f’s pricing.

Granted, this may be a placeholder listing – even the box art is “not final” – so stay tuned for updates. Silent Hill: Townfall launches later this year for PS5 and PC with no word on a potential Xbox Series X/S version. It’s the first full-length title in the series with a first-person perspective, and that means a different approach to horror (albeit one that’s still in the spirit of Silent Hill).

"We see this project not only as our biggest and most ambitious game yet, but as a love letter to the series," says director Jon McKellan.

If you’ve played Stories Unknown or even Observation, the reveal of Screen Burn Interactive’s Silent Hill: Townfall at State of Play may been quite the shocker. With extremely detailed visuals courtesy of Unreal Engine 5, the cinematic presentation can rival triple-A titles. One might think that Townfall is a small game, but Annapurna Interactive assured that this isn’t the case.

During the latest Silent Hill Transmission, president Hector Sanchez said that it’s “among some of the biggest games that we’re ever published.” Annapurna’s head of games, Leanne Loombe, added that despite Screen Burn’s size, with only 30 developers, “They have been afforded the development time to really realize their creative vision for Townfall.”

She went on to call it a “full-length, high-quality game” that the publisher can “present with confidence, following Silent Hill f and Silent Hill 2 [remake].” Writer and director Jon McKellan also thanked fans for their patience and said the studio “can’t wait to show you more of what we have in store.”

“We see this project not only as our biggest and most ambitious game yet, but as a love letter to the series that inspired many of the team – myself included – to become game developers in the first place!”

Interestingly, McKellan revealed earlier in the broadcast that he played through the first Silent Hill when he was 17 or 18 while suffering from a high fever. Despite finishing it, he considered the experience to be a fever dream in every sense of the word, to the point where he doesn’t want to replay and discover whether it was real or not.

“I’ve been drawn to the fog ever since. And I think now that we’re actually responsible for it and we’re actually kind of pulling the rest of the team in. Now we’re looking forward to bringing the fans into that fever dream, too,” said McKellan.

Silent Hill: Townfall launches in 2026 for PS5 and PC, and serves as the first full-length first-person title in the series. More details will be revealed in the coming months, with other Transmission broadcasts to come, so it shouldn’t be long before we learn the release date.

While the usual melee and ranged weapons are available, players can also sneak, hide and peer around corners for threats with the CRTV.

The State of Play has wrapped, but we finally got to see the first gameplay trailer for Silent Hill: Townfall. Developed by Screen Burn Interactive for PS5 and PC, the story takes place in a fishing town called St. Amelia, with the protagonist Simon Ordell trying to “put things right,” with mixed results, of course.

But above all else, we were surprised to see that the gameplay is in first-person. Unlike say, Resident Evil Requiem, you won’t be switching between it and the more traditional third-person perspective. Silent Hill: Townfall is the first full-length title in the series to be in first-person, per producer Motoi Okamoto in the latest Transmission broadcast.

The perspective allowed for new combat options, puzzle mechanics and ways to avoid combat. You can use melee weapons like wood planks, pipes and a pistol, but with the new CRTV, it’s possible to lean around and over walls to observe any potential threats. So if you want to sneak around or hide, go ahead. Just be aware that different situations require different strategies, and choosing the correct one is important.

Regardless of the perspective, Screen Burn aimed to ensure the experience feels distinctly Silent Hill. It’s out later this year, so stay tuned for updates, especially with other Transmission broadcasts planned for this year.

A new Silent Hill is out this year, focusing on Simon Ordell, who explores the dreaded town of St. Amelia to set things right.

We finally got our first look at Silent Hill: Townfall, with a reveal trailer dropping during State of Play that showcases the town of St. Amelia while hinting at a very dark story for its new protagonist, Simon Ordell.

We begin with Simon pondering the mistakes that led him to his current predicament before diving into a showcase of the game’s excellent visuals and combat that seems as nerve-wracking as you’d expect from a Silent Hill title. Among the most interesting new additions is the CRTV, a pocket television that’s going to be integral to your journey through St. Amelia according to Jon McKellan, the game’s writer and director.

“Drawing on our previous experience designing interactive ‘retro’ user interfaces and VHS-style aesthetics, we wanted to take the handheld radio – an iconic tool of the Silent Hill series – and evolve it in our own way. The result of that evolution is the ‘CRTV’ – a lovingly crafted device that uses real retro technology and innovative techniques to produce the gritty, authentic audio and video used throughout the game.”

Aside from the CRTV, McKellan commented on the game’s shift to the first-person POV, showcasing how it blends well with the new device at our disposal. It’s going to be mighty helpful in tracking your objectives and keeping tabs on threats around you. If you’re spotted, you get to use both melee and ranged weapons to take them on, or perhaps choose to be stealthy and attempt to avoid conflict altogether. That might be a wise choice given how terrifying the enemies in the trailer were, and we believe things are going to get a whole lot worse.

McKellan also highlighted the game’s DualSense integration, promising that the controller’s advanced haptics will play a major role in keeping you as immersed in the experience as possible. Silent Hill: Townfall releases later this year as a PS5 exclusive. You can check out the reveal trailer below.

The years-long wait for updates on the horror title from Annapurna and Screen Burn Interactive has finally come to an end.

Konami will reveal the latest details on Silent Hill: Townfall on February 12th, and surprisingly, it’s not at PlayStation’s next State of Play. Airing at 4 PM PT, it all unfolds in a brand new Silent Hill Transmission broadcast, which also includes the “latest updates” on the series.

However, Townfall is the main attraction, and rightfully so. Announced back in October 2022, it’s developed by Screen Burn Interactive (formerly No Code) and published by Annapurna Interactive. Like Silent Hill f and Silent Hill 2 remake, it uses Unreal Engine 5.

That’s pretty much all we know at this point. Aside from rumors that it’s allegedly part of an anthology series with other indie developers working on follow-ups, there’s been no word on the gameplay or plot. Based on Screen Burn’s experience, you can probably expect an unorthodox narrative-focused adventure, but that doesn’t exactly narrow things down.

Konami somewhat corroborated those anthology rumors when it announced plans to develop Silent Hill: Townfall as a series going forward. It even reaffirmed that its the next new title for the franchise. A now-pulled retailer listing indicated a March 26th launch date, and thankfully, we won’t have to wait long to see if that’s legitimate. Stay tuned for updates in the meantime.

More than three years after its announcement and with no further details, Annapurna Interactive's title remains a mystery.

When Konami announced several major Silent Hill projects back in 2022, who would have thought that Silent Hill: Townfall would go the longest without any information? Interestingly, the publisher provided a slight update in its fiscal results for the nine months ending on December 31st, 2025, but it’s not what you think.

“As a continuation of our ongoing efforts, we are currently developing a brand-new title in the Silent Hill series, as well as a remake of the first installment, Silent Hill.”

At first glance, you would think this means a new, unannounced Silent Hill is in the works. However, when asked by Gematsu, Konami confirmed that it’s actually referring to Silent Hill: Townfall. Which is good news – the project is far from dead, but it doesn’t bring us any closer to a release date. Even that recently pulled retailer listing is looking more and more like a mistake.

Developed by Screen Burn Interactive (formerly No Code of Stories Untold fame) and published by Annapurna Interactive, little is known about Townfall. It’s developed on Unreal Engine 5, much like Silent Hill 2 remake, and is allegedly part of an anthology series with other indie developers seemingly working on follow-ups.

Maybe Konami is waiting for more progress on those releases as part of a greater marketing strategy for Townfall. Or maybe it has an announcement ready for this year, and we need to wait. Rest assured that it’s still coming, but whether it’s this year or the next remains to be seen.

"We aim to release about one title per year, including both announced and unannounced titles," said Konami's Motoi Okamoto.

With 2024’s Silent Hill 2 remake along with 2025’s Silent Hill f, Konami has been on quite the spree when it comes to new, high-quality releases in the seminal horror franchise. Now that the series has gained traction, producer Motoi Okamoto has said that Konami wants to release a new Silent Hill game every year. Speaking to Famitsu, Okamoto referred to annual releases as being a major goal for the publisher moving forward.

While he didn’t go into too many details about what we can expect going forward, Okamoto noted that Konami wants to release a new game—both announced and unannounced—every year.

“Following the release of Silent Hill 2 in October 2024, we were able to deliver Silent Hill f in September 2025, and the Silent Hill series is now back on track,” said Okamoto (via Google Translate). “We aim to release about one title per year, including both announced and unannounced titles. We’re not sure how far we can achieve this, but we’ll do our best as the producer of the Silent Hill series. Ideally, we’d like to keep the buzz around Silent Hill constant.”

Konami kickstarted this just a few years ago when it announced three new titles in the series—Silent Hill 2’s remake, Silent Hill f, and Silent Hill: Townfall. While the first two launched to wide critical acclaim, the third has received little by way of marketing so far. However, a recent leak had indicated that Silent Hill: Townfall will be coming out on March 26, 2026, which would further fall in line with Konami’s plans for a new Silent Hill game every year.

Back in October, Okamoto had noted that the three titles were announced at around the same time in 2022, so that Konami could affirm its commitment to bringing the classic horror franchise back. He said that the company wanted fans to “feel how serious we were about reviving the series.”

“Three years ago, in 2022, we announced three titles: Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill f, and Silent Hill: Townfall,” wrote Okamoto. “We didn’t want to just announce a single remake to ‘test the waters.’ We wanted people to feel how serious we were about reviving the series. Developing a remake and a new title simultaneously naturally involves risks, but we wanted to convey our commitment first and foremost.”

With Silent Hill: Townfall‘s rumoured release happening in just a few months, the future of the series is also being further expanded with developer Bloober Team once again taking on its past, this time around with a remake of the original Silent Hill. The studio, having previously worked on the Silent Hill 2 remake, confirmed that development on a remake of the original had begun all the way back in October.

In the meantime, check out our review of Silent Hill f. The title is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Series producer Motoi Okamoto wrote about it being a major risk for the company, as fans would need to know that the series has a future.

While it might be hard to deny that Konami has been on a roll with its newer entries in the Silent Hill franchise, series producer Motoi Okamoto has confirmed that the company originally announced three projects in the franchise together to show its commitment. As caught and translated by Automaton Media, Okamoto took to social media to talk about the Silent Hill franchise, and Konami’s commitment to bringing the series back with new releases.

He noted that, while Konami could have simply gone with an approach that would allow it to “test the waters” for Silent Hill returning with a single release or remake, this wasn’t what the company wanted to do. Rather, Konami has been quite serious about reviving the franchise, which in turn would involve both a remake as well as a new entry in the series.

The risky move has quite clearly paid off for Konami, with both Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake, as well as NeoBards’ Silent Hill f seeing quite a bit of critical and commercial success. He noted that players not already familiar with the series wouldn’t have engaged with a new entry as deeply if they didn’t think that there was a future for the series.

“Only when a new game is announced can the future of a series be seen,” he wrote. “Users won’t feel motivated to engage with an IP unless they can sense it has a future. If the company takes a wait-and-see approach, so will the players. The company needs to show how serious it is so that users can get genuinely excited. I think that’s only fair.”

Konami recently announced that the Silent Hill 2 remake from last year had sold more than 2.5 million copies worldwide. This, in turn, has helped the overall Silent Hill series hit a new sales milestone of over 10 million units. The most recent entry in the franchise was Silent Hill f which came out just last month. Developed by NeoBards and featuring writing by Ryukishi07, the title has been described quite positively by fans of the horror genre.

Earlier this month, voice actor Konatsu Kato – who plays Silent Hill f protagonist Hinako Shimizu – spoke about her time in the recording booth, as well as how she was emotionally affected by the writing and performance. While noting that the recording started off “smoothly,” Kato then revealed that she started asking herself questions, especially when it came time to having recording with her own character.

“Since I was playing Hinako, and the other actor was also playing Hinako, I’d get confused about who I was—both in the role and in reality,” she explained. “There were times back then when tears would just come out even though I wasn’t thinking about anything. The confusion grew in proportion to the “time spent facing each other,” so I remember having days when I felt like I might lose my mind.”

In the meantime, Bloober Team has confirmed that it has begun working on a remake of the original Silent Hill.

The studio has said that it was originally named No Code because it didn't have coders. Things, however, have changed since then.

No Code, the studio working on Silent Hill: Townfall, has announced that it is changing the company’s name. In a press release on its official website, the studio has revealed that, going forward, it will be known as Screen Burn Interactive.

In its announcement, the studio has revealed that its original No Code name made more sense back in 2015 when it was founded back when its development team didn’t actually have any coders. Since then, however, the studio has grown quite a bit, with several members of the team being programmers.

The studio also points out that, in the modern day, the term “No Code” has become a generic term for app development and training courses that make as little use of programming as possible. “Our inbox is a mess,” wrote the studio.

As for the decision to go with Screen Burn as its new name, the studio explained that the inspiration struck when it came to the atmosphere and vibes that its games typically go for. “We’re analogue TV’s. 3.5” disk drives. Nostalgic and imperfect,” explains the studio.

“We make games that stick with you, long after the credits roll. Games that persist. Like an old arcade machine, with the UI burned into the display forever.”

As for what this might mean for the development of Silent Hill: Townfall, the studio has mentioned it being one of the projects that it is still working on. However, no new details about the upcoming horror title have been revealed.

Back in December 2024, Silent Hill series producer Motoi Okamoto had said that Konami will be revealing more details about Silent Hill: Townfall some time this year.

“In 2024, we successfully released Silent Hill 2 to high praise from fans. What remains now are the already announced titles Silent Hill f and Silent Hill: Townfall,” Okamoto said in an interview. “We’re working hard on both titles to meet fans’ expectations. We’ll do our best to be able to deliver new updates.”

While Konami as well as Screen Burn Interactive have been quiet about Silent Hill: Townfall, we do know that the title is being developed using Unreal Engine 5. Rumours from all the way back in 2022 also indicate that Townfall will be a part of an anthology series, where other games will be made by different indie studios.

In the meantime, Silent Hill f will be the next mainline game in the classic horror franchise. It is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on September 25.
