Want a game that deletes your progress or itself? We have the list for you!

Video games can provide a range of experiences and if modern triple-A titles are anything to go by, a singular playthrough can become quite long. However, what if you encountered a game that removed all your save data, either under specific circumstances or for fun? What about games that simply deleted themselves entirely? Would you still have that experience, if only in your memories? Let’s take a look at 14 such games here.

Doki Doki Literature Club

Unless you’re looking for some real nightmare fuel, Doki Doki Literature Club probably isn’t the best game to hop into. Charmingly disarming at first, the game quickly degenerates into a meta horror fest. We won’t spoil how but by the end, the game will delete almost all of its files, requiring a reinstall to play it again. If you delete the “firstrun” file though and select “Yes” when restarting the game, then you can do it all over again. Just Monika. All over again.

One of the greatest and most iconic consoles ever is now three decades old.

Among the most influential and greatest of all consoles in history is Sega’s second outing in the gaming console market, the Mega Drive (known as the Genesis in North America). It was the console that first challenged Nintendo, led to some beloved franchises such as Sonic, and was so influential for a while that the name “Sega” was synonymous with video games.

Sega would go on to squander their lead, and the Super Nintendo would beat them by the end; Sega themselves would never recover from their mismanagement, and less than a decade after the Genesis was discontinued, would go third party. But none of that changes how great the Genesis itself was. And today, it is 30 years old—counting from its original release in Japan, which was on October 29, 2018.

Sega posted a quiet tweet to commemorate the occasion on their Twitter account, but there wasn’t much else. Hopefully, the Genesis Classic, which is due to come next year, will be the proper celebration that a console as iconic as this deserves.

There’s a lot of amazing stuff in store for 3DS and Wii owners, as two classic games which were released a decade ago come to the eShop and the Wii Virtual Console.

Who doesn’t know the original Metroid? Take control of the legendary Samus Aran and fight the Space Pirates and Mother Brain to bring peace to the Galaxy. Strider is a game that was released on the Sega Mega Drive.

You take control of the legendary Strider, Hiryu, and by using his trusty plasma sword called “Cypher” and athletic platforming abilities you must travel through a futuristic landscape battling the wicked Grandmaster Meio and his colourful minions.

These are two fantastic games and makes me all nostalgic just thinking about them. It’s great that they’re readily available on the 3DS and Wii now.

You can check out the entire release schedule and the pricing below. Tell us what you think in the comments section below.
