Sam chases Mental into space, which makes sense since this directly continues the story left off at the end of Second Encounter. It helps to understand the game’s promise of new worlds, enemies, and weapons for what developer Croteam pitches as a return to the gameplay loop you know and love, with some “fresh new ideas” thrown in. There’s also the intrigue of a conclusion to Sam’s one-man crusade against his arch-nemesis. And best of all, it’s from the same team that developed The First Encounter and Siberian Mayhem (the standalone Serious Sam 4 expansion).

Playable solo or with friends, there’s no release date yet since it’s still in early development. We suppose that tiny glimpse of the game that the teaser has given us is all we’re going to get at this point, alongside whatever’s on the official Steam page. As always, we’re happy to show a bit of patience in exchange for an experience that hopefully surpasses our expectations after that solid but rather flawed outing in Serious Sam 4.
