Set after the 2024 hack-and-slash title's events, the story introduces players to a new protagonist, Evie, and her melee combat style.

Shift Up has released a new trailer to show off what the studio has been working on all this time for the sequel to Stellar Blade. Titled Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, the new game will seemingly tap into more of the cyberpunk aesthetic that we’ve previously seen in other games. However, Shift Up hasn’t announced any release date for the title yet, noting that it is still early in development.

The trailer starts off by showing us the busy streets of a city, with a train pulling up at a crowded station. We then get more looks at the various establishments throughout the city, before eventually getting our first look at the protagonist. An entirely new character, the new protagonist seems to go by the name Evie, which bears a striking resemblance to the name of Stellar Blade’s protagonist, Eve. The trailer also indicates that Evie will be more expressive than Eve was.

The trailer then shifts into what looks like gameplay, with the protagonist walking through the cloud as she tails her targets. Eventually, however, these targets start mutating into horrendous creatures, and our hero has to get ready to take them down.

Stellar Blade: Blood Rain will seemingly make use of good old-fashioned fisticuffs as its protagonist’s main fighting style of choice. Whether her moveset can be further expanded by getting new weapon types remains to be seen. Until then, however, she is equipped with a series of rapid-fire punches and wide, sweeping kicks that help her take down her enemies.

The visuals have also seemingly taken a massive jump forward in quality, with the physics of various characters’ clothing and hair being quite impressive.

Shift Up has also confirmed in its earnings report that it is continuing to explore "further platform expansion" for Stellar Blade.

During its recent earnings report, Stellar Blade developer Shift Up has revealed that the sequel to the hack-and-slash action game won’t be published by Sony. Rather, the studio has said that it will handle the publishing duties itself, noting that the “unique appeal” of Stellar Blade can be communicated “more directly and effectively.”

While far from an official confirmation, the fact that Sony isn’t publishing Stellar Blade 2 could indicate that Shift Up is aiming for a wider launch for the sequel, rather than staying exclusive to PlayStation. Stellar Blade was originally released exclusively on PS5 before it eventually made its way to PC.

The studio has noted that it has been “actively exploring further platform expansion” for the original Stellar Blade, which falls in line with rumors from last year that the studio had been developing a Nintendo Switch 2 port of the title.

“Development of the next Stellar Blade title is progressing smoothly, on track to meet our targeted quality standards,” said the studio about the sequel. “Notably, starting with this next title, Shift Up will transition to a first-party service model. This will allow us to lead marketing strategies that fully reflect the distinctive identity of the Stellar Blade IP, and we expect to communicate the unique appeal of its universe to players more directly and effectively.”

“With three key tailwinds – high-quality self-publishing capabilities, a sales maximization strategy, and a proven IP fanbase – we are confident the next title will deliver meaningfully improved results compared to its predecessor.”

Shift Up had confirmed that it had been working on a sequel to Stellar Blade all the way back in May 2025. During its earnings report at the time, the studio confirmed that the sequel is planned for release before 2027.

As for the Nintendo Switch 2 port, no details have been revealed, and even Shift Up hasn’t yet officially confirmed anything about it.

Last year’s report came courtesy of indications that the studio had gotten its hands on a development kit for Nintendo’s console. At the time, this kit included APIs, software to test games, and debugging tools for optimization work. Owing to the Switch 2’s lack of horsepower when compared to PS5 or modern PCs, the port is expected to feature toned-down visual fidelity so that it can run at smooth frame rates. Shift Up might also end up making thorough use of the console’s DLSS technology.

“There is nothing confirmed yet regarding the development of the Switch 2 version of the Stellar Blade,” said the studio at the time. “We are reviewing various possibilities internally.”

Stellar Blade has been quite successful for Shift Up. Back in February 2025, the studio had confirmed that the game had generated ₩219.8 billion in revenue, translating to roughly $151.4 million. This marked an approximately 30 percent year-on-year increase in revenues for Shift Up.

For more details on Stellar Blade, take a look at our review of its original PS5 launch version, which we gave a score of 8 out of 10 thanks to its setting, story, and enemy variety, among other things. Our major complaints largely revolved around generic side quests, spotty writing, and sluggish traversal.

Developer Shift Up has reportedly gotten its hands on a Nintendo Switch 2 development kit and has started optimising the game.

While Stellar Blade has recently made its way onto PC after spending some time as a PS5 exclusive, it looks like developer Shift Up isn’t quite resting on its laurels. According to Korean publication PlayForum, the studio is now working on a Nintendo Switch 2 port of the action game.

While Shift Up itself is yet to make any official announcement about Stellar Blade coming to the Switch 2, the report indicates that the studio has gotten its hands on a development kit for Nintendo’s latest console, and has already started working on a port. The development kit includes unpublished APIs, software that allows a developer to test their games, as well as debugging tools that can further optimise a title to run on the console.

According to the report, the in-development version of Stellar Blade will seemingly tone down the game’s visuals quite a bit to get it running smoothly on the hybrid handheld/home console. The title may also use Nvidia’s DLSS technology to run on the Switch 2. For context, the PC version of Stellar Blade features support for both DLSS 4 as well as AMD’s FSR 3 technologies.

“There is nothing confirmed yet regarding the development of the Switch 2 version of the Stellar Blade,” said Shift Up in a statement (translation via Google). “We are reviewing various possibilities internally.”

The studio had previously also confirmed that it had begun work on a sequel to Stellar Blade. While no official release date has been given, the studio is seemingly targetting 2026 as the release window for Stellar Blade 2. Along with this, Shift Up is also working on a brand new game, dubbed Project Witches, for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Stellar Blade has proven to be incredibly successful for Shift Up, with the studio having revealed earlier this week that it had sold over 3 million copies across PC and PS5. The PC version was released just earlier this month and has already contributed quite a bit to the sales figure, with over one million copies sold in three days.

Back in February, Shift Up revealed through an earnings report that it had made roughly $43.2 million from Stellar Blade alone over the previous year. All in all, the studio saw roughly $151.4 million in revenue, a 30.4 percent increase over its previous year. Out of this, $102.3 million were profits, up 33.8 percent year-over-year. Net profits had also gone up, coming in at $98.2 million.

Out of the revenue made, around $105.4 million was cited as coming from gacha game Goddess of Victory: Nikke, accounting for 69.6 percent of total revenue. At the time, Stellar Blade’s PC release wasn’t out yet, and the studio was expecting it to contribute quite heavily to the revenue in the future as well.

Stellar Blade is available on PC and PS5. For more details, check out our review of the original PS5 release, where we gave it a score of 8 out of 10. In our review, we praised the in-depth combat and interesting setting thanks to captivating lore and good visual aesthetics while criticising its spotty writing and boring side quests.

No further details have been revealed, though the developer seemingly moved up the release of Project Witches, its next new IP.

Hack and slash action-adventure title Stellar Blade is getting a sequel. After “considering” it following the original’s release, Shift Up has confirmed in a recent presentation that it plans to release a sequel before 2027.

Interestingly, it also seemingly moved up the release of Project Witches, a new IP in development for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Specific details are unknown, though it may be the same urban sci-fi action RPG that Shift Up began hiring for the month prior.

It’s currently on track to release the original on June 11th for PC. Alongside support for upscalers, unlocked frame rates, and exclusive features, it will feature new outfits, a new optional boss, Japanese and Chinese voiceovers, and more. PS5 owners will receive this new content in a free update.

Stellar Blade Complete Edition launches on the same day and includes the base game, the NieR: Automata crossover DLC, and all updates.
Shift Up reveals some surprisingly forgiving system requirements for its action-adventure title's upcoming PC release on June 11th.

Stellar Blade, Shift Up’s debut console title, is finally coming to PC, with the official trailer now available. The PlayStation Blog has revealed various other details on the hack-and-slash title, including the requirements. Lo and behold, they’re actually somewhat forgiving.

The minimum requirements include an Intel Core i5-7600K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 (6 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 580 (8 GB), and 16 GB RAM at the Low preset for 1080p/60 FPS gameplay. Playing on High preset at 1440p/60 FPS requires a Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 3600X, an RTX 2070 SUPER or Radeon RX 6700 XT, and 16 GB RAM.

For 4K/60 FPS at Very High settings, you’ll need a Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 3600X, an RTX 3080 or Radeon RX 7900 XT, and 16 GB RAM. It requires 75 GB of installation space, and while an SSD isn’t necessary on the minimum end, it’s mandatory everywhere else.

The Complete Edition launches on the same day for PS5 and PC and includes the base game, all paid DLC and new pre-order outfits.

Update: The official trailer is now available, outlining Stellar Blade’s PC features and more.

Original Story:

Shift Up’s Stellar Blade is coming to PC on June 11th, as revealed by a trailer accidentally uploaded to PlayStation’s YouTube channel. Though removed, a Reddit user uploaded a mirror, which you can view here.

The trailer confirms support for upscalers like Nvidia DLSS 4 and AMD FSR 3 alongside Frame and Multi Frame Generation. The environmental textures also have a higher resolution, showcasing more details. The PC version also supports unlocked frame rates, Ultrawide displays (up to 32:9 resolution), and the PS5’s DualSense (including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers).

If that weren’t enough, players can enable Japanese and Chinese voiceovers, challenge Mann, the Sentinels’ leader, in a new boss battle, and customize Eve with 25 new outfits.

The trailer ends by revealing Stellar Blade Complete Edition, which includes the base game, new pre-order cosmetics, and paid DLC for collaborations like NieR: Automata. It also goes live for PC and PS5 on June 11th. Stay tuned for the official announcement in the coming days/weeks. This translates to roughly $151.4 million, and is a 30.4 percent increase over its reported revenues from 2023, according to Game World Observer.

With revenues having gone up, the studio also announced ₩145.58 billion (roughly $102.3 million) in profits, which was up by 33.8 percent year-over-year. This rise in revenue and profits has made 2024 a record year for the studio. Net profits for the studio were up as well, amounting to ₩142.6 billion (roughly $98.2 million).

Of note is that, while mobile gacha game Goddess of Victory: Nikke generated plenty of money – ₩153 billion (roughly $105.4 million) – and accounted for 69.6 percent of total revenue, its revenue was actually lower compared to last year by around 7 percent.

Third-person action game Stellar Blade also made a fair amount of money, totalling up to ₩62.8 billion (roughly $43.2 million). The studio stated that the upcoming PC release of Stellar Blade will likely perform even better than the console version. The studio stated that the game is currently in its optimisation phase, and the studio is even working on getting it running smoothly on the Steam Deck.

Among other things, Shift Up credited the game’s various updates, as well as the NieR: Automata collaboration event from back in November for the success of Stellar Blade.

Currently, the PC version of Stellar Blade doesn’t have a release date, though the studio has stated that it is targeting a 2025 launch for the platform. In the meantime, check out our review of the PS5 release.
