Meanwhile, another Call of Duty title is also set to join the subscription service's library in March, it's claimed.

The rollout of Activision’s back catalog for Game Pass has been slower than expected, but bit by bit, Microsoft has been bringing over the company’s titles to its subscription service nonetheless, and it looks like we might know the names of another couple of games that’ll be joining in the next few months.

As per known insider eXtas1s on Twitter, Call of Duty: World at War and Raven Software’s 2010 shooter Singularity will launch for Game Pass in May, with the former also having popped up on the Microsoft Store on Windows. Interestingly, the leaker also claims the two arrivals will be preceded by another Call of Duty title coming to Game Pass in March, though he did not elaborate on what that title will be.

Whether we can expect any other Activision titles to release for Game Pass before then remains to be seen, but either way, it seems like Microsoft is taking its time with bringing over the company’s legacy titles to the subscription service’s library. World at War and Singularity should both be solid additions, however, so subscribers will want to keep an eye out.

There is no shortage of games that use the first-person perspective, but some are arguably more popular than others - and here 15 games that you probably haven't played before.

The first-person shooter genre is one of the most popular in the medium, and there’s been no shortage of games that use the perspective to tell different stories, evoke different emotions, and so much more. On that note, here are 15 of the best first-person single-player games that you probably haven’t played before.

Firewatch

This Campo Santo-developed first-person adventure was released in 2016 and sees players taking the role of a man named Henry who is a fire lookout at a national forest. The game has some great art direction which is also minimalist, alongside quality voice-acting. Firewatch does not have much in the name of action, but the beauty of nature and its environments remains constant throughout. Players will also have to choose dialogues from an options tree, which can significantly impact your relationship with other characters.

They may not have had their due but these shooters still rock.

Shooters are a dime a dozen especially in this battle royale-dominated era. Things weren’t too different back in the day but there were quite a few underrated titles that fell by the wayside, whether in sales or critical reception. Even worse are the games which had both but have been seemingly forgotten in the years since their release. Let’s take a look back at 15 of the most underrated first person shooters that you probably didn’t play.

No One Lives Forever

Zany 1960s spy aesthetic, hilariously clever writing, unique mission objectives and an endearing protagonist. What more could you want? No One Lives Forever was also releasing in a post-Half-Life era where stronger story-telling was valued in first person shooters. Alas, its success wasn’t to be. Despite rave reviews from critics, NOLF would release in November 2000 and only sell 36,501 copies by the end of the year. Even worse is the fact that current-generation players can’t experience it due to muddled IP rights. Nevertheless, whatever the future may hold, Cate Archer will forever be in our hearts.

Fighting the fight... for the wrong reasons.

Video games have a tendency to turn the tables on their audiences for some truly surprising twists and turns, and often, these take the form of reveals that the character we’d been playing as all along and thought was the good guy had inadvertently been doing the wrong things all along. In this feature, we’ll be taking a look at games that did exactly that.

Do note that there will be spoilers ahead for every game we speak about, so if we begin talking about a game you don’t want spoiled, skip ahead to the next entry.

METAL GEAR SOLID 2

We all love a good conspiracy theory, and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty threw the mother of conspiracy theories at us when it revealed to us the true nature of the Illuminati-like Patriots. What was even more of a gut-punch, though, was the realization that Raiden had inadvertently been functioning like a pawn for them all along, with the reveal that the entire Big Shell Incident was orchestrated by the Patriots just as a means to facilitate the S3 Plan and mould Raiden into their very own Solid Snake replica.

The good guys don't always win the fight.

Happy endings in video games are far from a given. Sometimes, the odds you’re up against just don’t turn out in your favour. Either because of the choices you’ve made throughout your playthrough, or because the narrative was always doomed to end badly for the heroes, the good guys, whatever you choose to call them- sometimes, their defeat seems inevitable.

In this feature, we’ll be taking a look at fifteen games where despite all your best efforts (or perhaps because of all your worst ones), the villains ended up coming out victorious.

Obviously, there will be spoilers ahead for every game on this list. If you see us mention a game you don’t want spoiled, skip ahead to the next entry.

RED DEAD REDEMPTION

Red Dead Redemption saw John Marston fighting with all he had to escape the cycle of violence that his life had been caught in since he had been taken in by Dutch van der Linde as a boy, but we all saw how that turne out. Things kept spiralling out of control, and Marston’s past came back to bite him with the deplorable Agent Ross marching down on his ranch with a posse an tearing him apart with a barrage of gunfire. Jack would go on to avenge his father and kill Ross, but in doing so, he also ended up entering the life his father had tried so hard to keep him out of.

Beyond: Two Souls creator hoping to "make something really impressive".

Fresh off of the release of Beyond: Two Souls for the PlayStation (check out our review here), Quantic Dream’s David Cage will now be focusing his efforts on projects for Sony’s next generation PlayStation 4 console. While not a full-fledged project, The Dark Sorcerer has been making waves over the past few months due to its highly detailed visuals and quirky approach.

But that’s just the beginning, according to Cage in conversation with Tech Radar. “This is basically Beyond’s engine, and we were so excited with what we could achieve. Some people were really impressed with the Dark Sorcerer but this is just the beginning, it’s the minimum quality you can get on the console.

“It was done with a very small team, a very small amount of time and small resources. Now we have a full team and we hope to make something really impressive.”

Rumours of the PS4 project – from being called Kara to Singularity – still abound. We’ll need to wait for further details, but it appears that developers aren’t even close to getting started with exploiting the PS4’s hardware.

Follow that up with comments of "Ya think?"

Let the speculations and conspiracy theories run rampant. Quantic Dream, known for adventure titles (like Heavy Rain) and soon to be released Beyond: Two Souls, registered a new domain name today: singularityps4.com.

And if that isn’t an indicator of the PS4’s imminent arrival, nothing is.

Truth be told, it raises more questions than it answers. Isn’t there already a game called Singularity for consoles and PC (Raven Software’s FPS comes to mind)? What of Beyond: Two Souls, which will be featuring a brand new engine according to director David Cage?

How far can we expect Singularity, much less any word of when the Playstation 4 – which it indeed is being called now – will release? And for the love of all that is holy, does it also feature Ellen Paige?

What we do know is that it may be loosely based on Ray Kurzweil’s The Singularity is Near, which was an influence on a tech demo Quantic Dream did called “Kara”. The naming convention for the site is also in keeping with the developer’s usual efforts. For example, heavyrainps3.com and beyondps3.com.

Many many questions but very answers to be had. As always, we’ll wait till this year’s E3 for the latest scoop.

Singularity starts off like your standard first-person shooter until you eventually gain other abilities. The abilities you eventually gain all have to do with time whether it’s aging an enemy to creating a black hole where everything is slowed within it. The list goes on as far as the time warping abilities you gain. You will eventually learn that you will make the game much easier on yourself by learning how to combine these abilities with the first-person shooter aspect of the game.

The game starts off slow and picks up after a while. It has a unique storyline which involves you stopping the atrocities the soviet union has caused by being able to leap through the future from the Cold War Era. As I mentioned before the game has a definite Bioshock or Timeshift feel to it. You are Captain Nathaniel Renko and you are sent in by the U.S. to investigate the abandoned, Cold War-era island of Katorga-12 which research was being done on. Once investigating part of the base your are warped to a 1950s Soviet base. Your time travel messes things up and you are found going back and forth times to fix things.

You quickly gain the TMD which is attached to your left hand and is what gives you all the unique powers of time. This will be upgraded with new powers automatically as you progress through the game but any other upgrades must be found as blueprints and such lying around the world you roam in. So you will need to keep your eyes peeled to find these otherwise you wont be upgrading much which is kind of a bummer. The same goes for weapon upgrades as you will only be able to upgrade weapons if you find weapon upgrade cases which also really ticked me off. Basically the upgrade system is cool but if your not a scavenging your not upgrading.

Multiplayer has a few different modes. Some of them are reminiscent of Left 4 Dead and its creatures vs soldiers. There is also your standard Team Death-match which both modes equipping soldiers with a TMD. Extermination is a capture and hold an objective point type mode which is probably the most fun. Each team has the option to choose between four classes that are unique to their respective sides. The multiplayer however is nothing special and doesn’t make the game. The campaign is Singularity’s highlight and while fun most of the time it’s not going to be getting any game of year awards.
