For $6 on one platform, you get Cloud, his costumes and a new stage.

Cloud Strife is available as an additional character for Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. on Wii U and 3DS from today onwards. In Nintendo’s Direct presentation for the game, it also revealed new details about the Final Fantasy 7 protagonist and the contents players can expect.

For instance, along with Cloud, you’ll receive two costumes – his normal FF7 SOLDIER outfit and the Advent Children outfit – with different colour schemes. The Midgar stage is also included with Cloud and it features a number of different Materia that players can pick up for various Summons. These include Leviathan, Ifrit, Odin, Bahamut Zero and Ramuh, with each knock-out granting the summoning player a point.

You can pick up Cloud Strife and the Midgar stage for $6 on either platform or for $7 on both the 3DS and Wii U. Along with Cloud Strife, Bayonetta has recently been announced as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. though the release date for her DLC is unknown at this time.

Platinum's bullet witch joins the fight.

<img decoding="async" src="https://gamingbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Super-Smash-Bros.-Bayonetta.jpg" alt="Super Smash Bros.
After the latest Nintendo Direct, devoted to Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U and 3DS, Nintendo announced that Platinum’s influential bullet witch Bayonetta will be joining the rambunctious cast. Check out the reveal trailer for the same below.

Bayonetta ranked very high in both European and North American polls among players. Her DLC will feature different variants of her outfit (including one that makes her look like Jeanne) and the Umbra Clock Tower as a new stage. There will also be a Bayonetta Amiibo released next year though the Smash Bros. DLC hasn’t been dated.

Bayonetta has become rather famous on the Wii U since the release of Bayonetta 2 exclusively on the platform. Several Nintendo properties also served to tie into that game including alternate costumes which made her appear like Princess Peach and Fox McCloud from Star Fox (along with an Arwing stage from the popular arcade shooter). What are your thoughts on her inclusion in Smash Bros? Let us know in the comments.

There may not even another Smash game by the looks of it.

Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS won’t be getting any more DLC as its campaign closes soon. Game director Masahiro Sakurai revealed as much in the Making of Fire Emblem: 25 Years of Development Secrets (translation by SourceGaming) and was even unsure about future games for Fire Emblem.

“How much a character will please the players, how unique they are – there are a lot of factors that go into deciding a character’s inclusion. I don’t know whether Fire Emblem will have many more games in the future, but it’s not as if we have a stipulation that says, ‘We have to include the protagonist of the next Fire Emblem game.’ Moreover, we don’t even know if there’ll be another Smash game.”

The last point is especially interesting but if there are any more titles in the Smash Bros. franchise then Sakurai may not be involved. What are your thoughts on this, especially with the Cloud Strife DLC around the corner? Let us know in the comments.

Tons of new details on the upcoming brawler.

Nintendo recently held a stream to release new details on the upcoming highly anticipated 3DS and Wii U installment in the Super Smash Bros series, and while we knew we’d be getting new details to tide us through till the releas edate, we didn’t expect this many.

First of all, let’s bring the best news to you right away: Charizard is going to be a separately playable character now. as is Greninja. Out of all the new characters that have been announced for the game so far (such as Animal Crossin’g Villager and Rosalina, another newcomer), these two have to be the best new additions.

The 3DS version will run at a steady 60 FPS, even when 3D is turned on while the Wii U version will only run at a normal 30 FPS. Maps on the 3DS version of the game include handheld exclusives such as 3D Land, Tortimer Island, Arena Ferox and Spirit Train, whereas other maps such as Skyloft, Wii Fit Studio, Mario Galaxy and Garden of Hope will be exclusive to the Wii U.

Another big shocker that was announced in the stream was the fact that the 3DS version of the game would be out much before the Wii U version. The 3DS version is due out this Summer while the Wii U version will be out in the Winter.

No details on connectivity between the Wii U and 3DS versions were given, but we’re guessing Nintendo are bound to talk about that at some point in the future.

You can take a look at a whole list of all the details that were revealed in the SSB stream that Nintendo held. Pixelitis have compiled an entire list.

And what exactly is this?

Nintendo have announced that the upcoming Super Smash Bros. will feature a stage based on Tomodachi Collection. Tomodachi is a life simulator game similar to The Sims and Animal Crossing in which we control our Mii, and it’s only released in the Japanese market so far. However, it was pretty successful there, selling over 3 and a half million units on the DS, and over a million and a half on the 3DS.

There will be different versions of the stage in the Wii U and the 3DS versions of Super Smash Bros, with the Wii U version focusing on console games and the 3DS version focusing on handheld games.

This Tomodachi Collection stage joins the Animal Crossing: New Leaf stage that Nintendo announced last month Super Smash Bros would have on the 3DS.

Could this mean that Nintendo is subtly pitching this life sim series to western audiences? Could we be getting Tomodachi games here in the near future?

Stay tuned for more updates.

Nintendo have announced that they have now added Pikmin and Olimar to the upcoming Super Smash Bros roster. To accompany this announcement, Nintendo have released brand new screenshots which showcases these two new characters.

Like previous games in the series, Super Smash Bros. will be a four player competitive fighting game. Super Smash Bros Wii U & 3DS will have the tripping mechanic removed. Additionally there are no plans to release downloadable content for the game.

These two characters join Mario, Bowser, Link, Fox McCloud, Kirby, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, Samus Aran, and Pit. The game is due next year for the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. The game is being developed by Namco Bandai games and Sora Ltd.

Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
