Phoenix Wright Movie US Premiere At AM2 Convention This June

It’s out in Japan already, there have been talks about about a widespread release, and now Phoenix Wright will be showing in the US! It’s not exactly widespread, but it’s a step in the right direction: The AM2 (Anime, Music & Manga) convention in Anaheim will host two screenings of the film – one for those holding paid passes and another with a preference for, but not exclusively limited to, pass holders. The convention runs from the 15th to the 17th of June.

Incredibly prolific film director Takashi Miike confirmed plans for a worldwide release of the Ace Attorney film during a Q&A at the Rotterdam International Film Festival. He added that each region will receive subs and dubs utilising character names specific to each region. The plot of the movie is based on events from the first game of the series. The film was screened at the Rotterdam festival with English subtitles using the characters English language names and a review of the filme can be found here.

Just in case you weren’t up to speed; a Phoenix Wright movie is in the works with Hiroki Narimiya playing the ace attorney and with the legendarily prolific Takashi Miike directing. Here is a full length trailer for the movie. The film is slated to open in Japan on February 11th 2012.

In you case had forgotten, a while back we reported that a Phoenix Wright film was in production with Takashi Miike, the man behind such films as Audition, 13 Assasins and Ichi The Killer, acting as director and starring Hiroki Narimiya as Phoenix himself. Well, today Capcom released the first image of Narimiya in costume. The film should see release in Japan during February 2012.
