The next title from Extremely OK Games may be revealed soon.

Extremely OK Games, formerly known as Matt Make Games of Celeste and Towerfall fame, is teasing some kind of reveal for tomorrow. On its official Twitter, the developer simply said “Vibe reveal tomorrow” along with a tulip emoji. With how much emphasis Celeste placed on its collectible strawberries, perhaps the tulip is some kind of clue.

Regardless, we’ll have to wait tomorrow for more details. Extremely OK Games’ last release was Celeste in 2018, telling the story of Madeline as she scaled Mount Celeste while simultaneously dealing with her own issues. The 2D platformer was heavily praised and managed to sell 500,000 copies in its year of release.

Chapter 9: Farewell was added as free DLC, providing over 100 levels, new story content and music. The developer stated in 2019 that a sequel wasn’t being planned but perhaps plans could have changed. Celeste is currently available for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch and Google Stadia along with Xbox Game Pass. Check out our review here for more details.

The makers of Celeste bring their other hit game to Nintendo's platform.

TowerFall, the multiplayer game from Matt Thorson, the developer of the hailed pixel platformer Celeste, is coming to the Nintendo Switch at last. The developers of the game have often cited a desire to bring it over to Nintendo’s platform, especially after how well Celeste did, and it looks like they have followed through on that.

TowerFall on Switch will come with Ascension and Dark World included, two expansions for it that were launched after the game. It will also include some characters from Celeste, if you needed any more prodding, as well as support for up to six players in a multiplayer match (the original game supports only four), apart from four player co-op play. That’s… a lot of bonuses to induce Switch owners to look into the game (or to get fans to look into double dipping on the Switch- without even considering the added bonus of portability!).

TowerFall launches on the Switch on September 27. It’s out now on Ouya (yes, really), PS Vita, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Watch the announcement trailer below.

With new features to boot

Recent IndieCade Media Choice Award Winner, TowerFall is making it’s way to PC this coming January according to creator Matt Thorson. He confirmed the PC release of the game, and also gave some quick details about the planned new content for the PC version.

“There’s two new archers and five new towers,” Thorson told Shacknews. As each tower in TowerFall contains ten different layouts, this roughly equates to 50 new levels. Not bad if you ask me.

Additionally at IndieCade, some of the new weapons for the updated build were on display, including the Drill Arrow, which has the ability to penetrate the walls that it hits. Already included in the TowerFall arsenal were the Bomb Arrow, which, as it’s name implies, explodes upon impact, and the Bramble Arrow, which unleashes a scattering of spikes upon a targeted area.

Included in the PC version will also be some new Orbs, which will affect the various stages of TowerFall.

Also states that developers for the Android console could be seeing millions in revenue by year-end.

Depending on who you talk to, the Android-based OUYA is either the greatest thing ever or a huge disappointment. However, OUYA Inc. CEO Julie Uhrman believes it’s only a matter of time before developers start millions of dollars in revenue. In fact, as early as the end of 2013.

Speaking to The Verge, Uhrman countered criticisms against the underwhelming sales of the device stating that 27 percent of all OUYA users have purchased a game, with 13 of the top 20 games having 8 percent of players willing to pay. “I think there are a lot of social and mobile app developers that would kill for an 8 percent attach rate on a platform that’s 30 days old.

“These numbers will grow as more gamers pick up consoles, and as we attract more developers, and I believe that by the end of the year, we’ll see a few developers telling us they’ve made more than a million dollars on Ouya.

Addressing criticisms from those who have seen meagre returns on developing games for the OUYA, Uhrman also stated that, “To say developers can’t make money on Ouya – I take offense to that. I’m sure the creators of TowerFall and Hidden in Plain Sight would take offense to that. The console has only been out for a month, and developers have only had access to the hardware for about 6 months. We really like what we see so far, and so do developers and gamers.”

“Five days after launch, reviews came out and people were writing us off. If every company that got mixed results right out of the gate would have given up, we wouldn’t have an iPhone, we wouldn’t have an iPod.”
