Saber Interactive adds to its 2026 co-op release schedule with a Switch 2 version of Turok's revival, also coming to other platforms.

The rumors were true – Saber Interactive’s Turok: Origins is indeed launching this year for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. But that’s not all, as a new trailer dropped, confirming a Nintendo Switch 2 version. Check it out below – there’s some new gameplay showcasing some enormous environments and the monstrosities that dwell within.

Touted as a revival of the classic dinosaur-hunting shooter franchise, Turok: Origins offers both first-person and third-person perspectives alongside solo and co-op for up to three players. Players traverse the Lost Lands to take out the series’ signature dinosaurs and various alien threats utilizing hatchets, sniper rifles, shotguns, assault rifles, and the classic bow and arrow.

The big gameplay hook here is harnessing DNA from slain enemies to unlock new abilities and upgrade your weapons. And while this may seem like another excuse for a co-op excursion from Saber, especially after the success of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, there is a story to experience, one with “twists and turns.”

Turok: Origins launches this Fall, so you can likely expect more gameplay, details, and perhaps even a free limited-time demo before launch (like with Saber’s other co-op shooter, John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando). Until then, head here to learn more about how it’s being treated as a “respectful” revival.

The report comes courtesy of a sound designer at Saber Interactive updating their LinkedIn profile to note their work on Turok: Origins.

While developer Saber Interactive is yet to confirm a release window for Turok: Origins, it looks like the title might be slated for release some time next year. As caught by Mp1st, a sound designer at the studio has updated their LinkedIn profile to mention their work on Turok: Origins. Along with mentioning the game itself, the sound designer has also noted that it has a “Forthcoming” release window of 2026.

The sound designer has also listed a couple of other projects, albeit without release windows attached to them – Radikal Fighters for PS5, and an unannounced project. Once again, as Saber Interactive is yet to make any confirmation about Turok: Origins’ release date or window, the 2026 window on the LinkedIn profile should also be taken with a grain of salt.

Turok: Origins was originally announced back in December 2024 during The Game Awards. The title was announced with a trailer, and the studio has confirmed that the main story can be taken on either solo or through co-op. The game puts players in the shoes of Turok warriors and will have them take on a vast array of enemies, from aliens to epic dinosaurs. To deal with these threats, players will also have quite a few weapons at their disposals, from traditional weaponry like hatchets to more powerful items, like sniper rifles, plasma rifles and shotguns.

A core gameplay feature will revolve around players collecting the DNA samples from the various things they kill. These samples can then be used to pick upgrades for the weapons, which in turn can then allow the players to take on even more challenging enemies.

Back in December, director Jesús Iglesias had spoken about reviving the classic franchise, and how the new one will offer a compelling narrative and great gameplay for those who prefer single-player as well as co-op players. He also noted that the title will; likely appeal to those who enjoyed Saber Interactive’s other major release – Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.

“Space Marine 2 players have experienced the quality and production values that are standard at Saber, and they can be found in Turok: Origins as well. We hope that a compelling narrative and great single player and co-op gameplay will also appeal to players who enjoyed Space Marine 2,” he said.

Earlier this year, during Gamescom 2025, Iglesias had also spoken about the performance of the console versions of Turok: Origins. During his presentation, he confirmed that, while the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will target stable frame rates of 60 FPS, the Xbox Series S is seemingly incapable of hitting these performance targets. It is also worth noting that there has been no word yet on what kind of PC hardware will be required to run the game.

Turok: Origins will be coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and is being developed through Unreal Engine 5. While you wait for the series to be revived by Saber Interactive, you can check out our thoughts on some of the older titles, like Turok: Shadow of Oblivion Remaster, through our review.

Director Jesus Iglesias said that the studio is targeting 60 frames per second on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, but not the Xbox Series S.

As Saber Interactive has been working on revival of old-school shooter franchise Turok with the upcoming Turok: Origins, the studio has now confirmed that performance of the game will be quite choppy on the Xbox Series S. During a presentation at Gamescom 2025, as caught by WCCFTech, game director Jesús Iglesias confirmed that the Xbox Series S isn’t able to run Turok: Origins at 60 FPS.

He did note, however, that the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the upcoming shooter are targetting a stable frame rate of 60 FPS. The title is also making its way to PC. However, the studio is yet to confirm the hardware requirements for the PC version of the title. Considering the fact that the Xbox Series S might be facing difficulties in getting higher frame rates, the PC requirements will likely be higher than average.

Turok: Origins was announced back in December 2024 during The Game Awards. Announced with a trailer, Turok: Origins will offer a story that can be experienced either in single-player, or through co-op. Players will take on the role of Turok warriors as they take on enemies ranging from aliens, to massive dinosaurs. To help with this, players will have access to a wide arsenal of weaponry, from bows and hatchets to sniper rifles, plasma rifles and shotguns.

Weapons in Turok: Origins can also be upgraded by collecting DNA samples from vanquished foes. Through this progression system, players will also be able to unlock new abilities for themselves, which will further open up the kinds of threats that players can take on, both on the land and in the air.

It is worth noting that, considering its co-op and progression focus, Turok: Origins will be quite different from previous games in the franchise, which have instead focused on telling their stories through linear level design and fast-paced, frantic action. Despite these differences, however, Iglesias has noted that the title will be a “respectful” revival of the franchise.

“If there’s one thing we know how to do at Saber, it’s how to treat games based on well-known IPs respectfully, and Turok: Origins is no exception,” he said.

Iglesias also brought up comparisons with Saber Interactive’s other co-op shooter, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, noting that players can expect a similar level of quality, polish, and production values from Turok: Origins.

“Space Marine 2 players have experienced the quality and production values that are standard at Saber, and they can be found in Turok: Origins as well,” said Iglesias. “We hope that a compelling narrative and great single player and co-op gameplay will also appeal to players who enjoyed Space Marine 2.”

Turok: Origins is being developed for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and is being made using Unreal Engine 5. The title doesn’t yet have a release, however. In the meantime, for players that might want to revisit the classic Turok titles, check out our review of Turok: Shadow of Oblivion Remaster, where we gave it a score of 8 out of 10.

The game will also tout "a compelling narrative and great single player and co-op gameplay", as per director Jesus Iglesias.

A revival of the Turok franchise is something we’ve been hoping to see for well over a decade and a half, but though Saber Interactive did announce a brand-new entry in the dinosaur-slaying franchise at The Game Awards last week in the form of Turok: Origins, it also surprised many with the reveal that the game will be a third-person shooter, a new direction for what has primarily been a first-person franchise in the past.

Even so, though Turok: Origins is clearly going to be a different flavour of dino-hunting experience than its predecessors with its third-person perspective and its co-op focus, according to game director Jesus Iglesias, it’s still going to be a “respectful” revival of Turok.

“If there’s one thing we know how to do at Saber, it’s how to treat games based on well-known IPs respectfully, and Turok: Origins is no exception,” he said in an interview with GamesRadar.

Iglesias went on to add that, similar to what Saber Interactive did with Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 earlier this year, with Turok: Origins, the studio intends to deliver a “compelling narrative” and “great single player and co-op gameplay”.

“Space Marine 2 players have experienced the quality and production values that are standard at Saber, and they can be found in Turok: Origins as well. We hope that a compelling narrative and great single player and co-op gameplay will also appeal to players who enjoyed Space Marine 2,” he said.

Whether Turok: Origins will be as successful at what it sets out to do as Space Marine 2 clearly was remains to be seen, but the prospect of a new take on the long-dormant franchise potentially breathing new life into it is an intriguing one.

Turok: Origins is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. No release date or window has been announced.

Playable solo and in co-op, Saber Interactive's title sees players battling against vicious dinosaurs and villains across various planets.

The Turok franchise is back courtesy of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 developer Saber Interactive, but it’s not what you’d expect. Turok: Origins is a co-op experience (with a solo option) where players control “legendary” Turok warriors to fight against hordes of dinosaurs and aliens, including bosses. Check it out below.

Players must traverse the Lost Lands, utilizing an array of weapons like sniper rifles, shotguns, plasma rifles, bows, and hatchets. You can upgrade them throughout and even take DNA from enemies for new powers. As you unlock new abilities, your suit will evolve in real-time, which will be useful, given the sheer number of threats attacking on the ground and in the air.

There are various planets to explore, with unique locations like canyons, caves, temples, and more to explore. Turok: Origins doesn’t have a launch date or even a release window, but it’s coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Stay tuned for more details and gameplay in the coming months.
