The latest UKIE/Gfk charts for UK physical sales are in and Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is once again on top. It took the pole position over EA’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order which remained at second place this week. Meanwhile, Pokemon Sword went from first to third in the standings with sales dropping by 58 percent.

Pokemon Shield saw a similar drop, going from third to fifth place and sales dropping by 65 percent. Pokemon Sword still managed to eke out Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on PS4 in terms of single format sales. According to GamesIndustry.biz, the Nintendo Switch in general has been doing very well thanks to Black Friday boosting hardware and software sales.

For instance, Luigi’s Mansion 3 was in sixth place followed by Mario Kart 8: Deluxe in seventh. Even Mario and Sonic at the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020 managed to hit ninth place, moving up a spot in the past week. Check out the full UKIE/Gfk top ten for the week ending November 23rd.

Several games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Assassin's Creed Odyssey see sales increases.

Due to the lack of major releases, Ubisoft Massive’s The Division 2 stayed on top of the UK retail sales charts ending April 13th, as per Gfk Chart-Track and UKIE. Interestingly, it’s seen an 8 percent increase in sales over the previous week, as per GamesIndustry. FIFA 19 and Red Dead Redemption 2 managed the second and third place spots for the week.

FIFA 19 saw a 25 percent decrease in sales week-over-week, but Red Dead Redemption 2 saw an increase of 14 percent, similar to the previous week. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which stayed at fourth place, saw a 6 percent sales increase. Perhaps the greatest rise in sales was Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. It’s currently in sixth place with a 62 percent sales increase, thanks to Easter deals.

Titles like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Yoshi’s Crafted World, both of which managed to unseat The Division 2 for number one spots in previous weeks, have seen further drops than in the past week. While FromSoftware’s action adventure is in seventh place, Nintendo’s playful platformer dropped to fifth place. The latter’s sales also dropped by 18 percent.

Check out GFK/UKIE’s top ten for week ending April 13th below:

FIFA 19

Square Enix's long-awaited sequel sells more than double of its predecessor at launch.

Kingdom Hearts 3, Square Enix’s long awaited conclusion(?) to its epic fantasy journey, topped sales charts in the UK in its debut week, and more than doubled sales of Kingdom Hearts 2. This is according to the latest data from UKIE/Gfk Chart-Track for the week ending February 2nd (via GamesIndustry.biz). It’s apparently the first time the series has seen a UK chart-topping debut, and also the most successful launch in the region for the franchise.

In terms of sales split between the versions, PlayStation 4 emerged on top with an overwhelming 82 percent. Xbox One made up the remainder, which makes sense, given the series’ origins on PlayStation 2. As for Resident Evil 2, it fell from the pole position last week to second place here, with sales dropping by 67 percent week-on-week.

The remainder of the top ten chart is otherwise composed of the usual suspects. Red Dead Redemption 2, FIFA 19, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 occupy third, fourth, and fifth place respectively. New Super Mario Bros. U saw a slight fall into sixth place. It’s pretty much business as usual.

Check out UKIE/GfK’s top ten best-selling games for the week ending February 2nd below:

Kingdom Hearts 3

Resident Evil 2

Vicarious Visions' remastered trilogy continues its best-selling run in the region.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-299890" src="https://gamingbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Crash-Bandicoot-N.-Sane-Trilogy.jpg" alt="Crash Bandicoot N.
The success of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, the remastered trilogy of Naughty Dog’s original three classics, is getting a little crazy at this point. According to Gfk Chart-Track and UKIE, the trilogy (remastered by Vicarious Visions) has spent its sixth straight week on top of the UK charts.

Keep in mind that this is following the multi-platform release – Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy had a similar long-running streak last year when it launched exclusively for the PlayStation 4. Clearly, the marsupial can’t be stopped, and this is only accounting for physical sales of the game.

The top 10 chart is otherwise fairly similar to last week. LEGO The Incredibles is in second place, followed by Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, The Crew 2 and Grand Theft Auto 5. Call of Duty: WW2 is in sixth place while God of War hangs around at seventh. Super Mario Odyssey manages to stay in the top ten but just barely at eighth, while Jurassic World Evolution and Mario Tennis Aces round out the chart.

Crash Bandicoot N. Trilogy in top spot for the third consecutive week as per Gfk Chart-Track.

UK sales charts for the week ending on July 14th courtesy of UKIE and Gfk Chart-Track. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is in the top spot for the third consecutive week in a row. Considering how successful it was on PS4 in 2017, this should come as no surprise, now that it’s also available for Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. That being said, there are some pretty strong new releases this week.

LEGO The Incredibles debuts in second place this week with 46 percent of sales coming from the PS4 version. Interestingly while the Xbox One version had 30 percent of sales, the Switch saw 23 percent of sales. Then there’s Octopath Traveler, Square Enix’s Switch-exclusive RPG, which debuts in third place.

It sold almost twice as much as Bravely Default (2012) and more than double that of Bravely Second (2016), both on the Nintendo 3DS. However, thanks to its higher price tag, Octopath Traveler is actually in first when it comes to revenue for single platform games. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker for the Nintendo Switch and 3DS debuted in fourth place, with the former accounting for 93 percent of sales. Despite its position, first week sales are 40 percent lower than the Wii U version.

For the top ten best-selling physical games in the UK for the week ending July 14th, see below:

The recent multi-platform launch helps Crash dominate in the UK sales charts.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-299890" src="https://gamingbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Crash-Bandicoot-N.-Sane-Trilogy.jpg" alt="Crash Bandicoot N.
It’s been a rather odd week in the United Kingdom. GFK/UKIE revealed that Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy was the third best-selling game of June thanks to a multi-platform launch. However, it’s on top of GFK Chart Track’s weekly charts for the week ending July 7th. This is title’s second straight week as the number 1 best-selling title, not counting all the other weeks on top when it launched earlier last year exclusively for the PlayStation 4.

Another surprising addition in the top ten is Jurassic World: Evolution, making its debut in second place. The Crew 2 follows it in third place while FIFA 18 drops to fourth. Mario Tennis Aces continues to have a strong run in the charts, dropping slightly from fourth to fifth place. God of War similarly holds on at sixth place.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe fell to seventh place while Far Cry 5 saw a moderate rise from tenth to eighth place. Star Wars Battlefront 2 is in ninth place followed by Fallout 4 in tenth. The other big debut was THQ Nordic’s Red Guerrilla: Re-Mars-Tered Edition, which ranked 20th in the charts. Keep in mind that GFK’s charts only include physical retail sales and not digital sales.

A free update and the World Cup helped sales surge for EA Sports' football sim.

June was a big month for gaming, thanks in no small part to E3 2018. However, it was a big month in the UK as well, as games like FIFA 18 and God of War battled for supremacy. In the end though, it was EA Sports’ title that came out on top, thanks to the recent free World Cup update as revealed by GFK/UKIE (via MCVUK).

The fact that the update arrived on May 29th while the World Cup took place in mid-June also helped with sales being up 67 per cent month-on-month. The Xbox One version saw sales increase by 203 per cent month-on-month. God of War was in second place and only saw a 30 per cent decrease in sales month-on-month.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy made it to third place thanks to a multiplatform re-release. The PS4 version even saw an increase in sales month-on-month by 16 per cent. Detroit: Become Human came in fourth place, followed by Far Cry 5 and Fallout 4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe scored seventh, as Mario Tennis Aces came in at eighth place. Vampyr and Grand Theft Auto 5 rounded out the June 2018 best-sellers chart for the UK.

PS4 also had the most number of exclusives in number 1 spots throughout the year.

If you ever needed reason to believe that the PlayStation 4 is doing well – besides the 70 million units sold as of December 2017 worldwide – then the UKIE and Gfk Chart-Track have it. According to data from them (via Games Industry International), the physical software sales on the PS4 represent 50.2 percent of all software sales in 2017. In comparison, the Xbox One represent 31.6 percent of all physical software sales.

As the UKIE revealed, this was the first year that one console’s physical software sales accounted for half of the total market. The last record, set by Sony ironically enough, was in 1998 when the PlayStation One’s physical software sales accounted for 47.9 percent of the market.

Sony formats have also had the most number of exclusives at number 1 spots including Horizon: Zero Dawn, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, Gran Turismo Sport, WipeOut: Omega Collection, Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Persona 5. The next year should be even more interesting with exclusives like God of War, Spider-Man, Detroit: Become Human and so on planned.

The latest UK game charts courtesy of Gfk Chart-Track are in and interestingly enough, Wipeout Omega Collection on PS4 has claimed the top spot for the week. This actually marks the first time the series has ever topped the sales charts in the UK across all formats. Only physical retail sales are accounted for here.

Tekken 7 is in second place followed by another new entry – Codemasters’ Dirt 4, an offroad racing title which earned accolades for its random track generator and realism. Horizon: Zero Dawn is in fourth place followed by the immortal Grand Theft Auto 5 in fifth.

Blizzard’s Overwatch is in sixth place with FIFA 17, Injustice 2, The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind (another new game debuting) and Dishonored 2 rounding out the charts. The rise of Dishonored 2 is interesting, especially as Dishonored: Death of the Outsider has been announced for September release.

What are your thoughts on this past week’s sales in the UK? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more information.

Grand Theft Auto 5 and FIFA 15 still successful heading into the new year.

Love it or hate it – and despite the lower sales than previous games in the series – Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is still going strong. According to the past week’s UKIE game charts courtesy of Gfk Chart-Track, Sledgehammer Games’ futuristic first person shooter was the number one selling game across all platforms in the UK.

There hasn’t been much change in the top ten since 2014 ended with Grand Theft Auto 5 and FIFA 15 still in second and third place respectively. Despite much of the negative press it received, Ubisoft has Far Cry 4 at fourth, Assassin’s Creed: Unity at fifth and The Crew at sixth place. Bungie’s Destiny has seen a slight drop in its rankings but is still in the top ten at seventh place.

Oddly enough, WWE 2K15 managed to move up to eighth place. DriveClub on the PS4 is in ninth while Minecraft: Xbox Edition is in 10th place, indicating that the PlayStation Edition has finally been ousted from the top ten.
