Along with Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us: Remastered, Naughty Dog has also revealed that it is working on a new AAA title that will be “on the scale of Uncharted”. Speaking to Game Informer, co-president Evan Wells said the project is in very early pre-production stages at this time.

“We have the sizeable team that it takes to get something like that off of the ground, but it’s got a long runway in front of it. We have a lot of great ideas and some stuff that is already getting everybody jazzed and excited. So, it’s a long way off before we can really start talking about it in detail. But no, [Bruce and Neil working on Uncharted] is not going to impact our ability to keep that stirring that pot.”

This comes after the fact that Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley of The Last of Us fame would be heading up development for Uncharted 4.

Fable developer Lionhead Studios hasn’t really been creating anything else for the past, oh, decade or so. Starting from the first game all the way up to Fable Anniversary and Fable Legends, the studio has finally confirmed that it is working on non-Fable projects. This follows reports of the studio developing an “unannounced AAA title” separate from Fable Legends.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Lionhead Studios head John Needham stated that the studio is still “primarily” focused on Fable but that “we’re working on other games, too.”

“We’re working on other different sorts of games as well that we’re not talking about right now and won’t be Fable-esque.”

Considering that the studio developed the excellent Black & White franchise before choosing to focus exclusively on Fable through the years, we can only hope that that series returns at some point. What do you think these “different sorts of games” could be? Let us know below.

Two recent job postings indicate a ton of activity over at BioWare.

Bioware Austin, the developer behind Star Wars: The Old Republic, apparently has several new projects in the works that have yet to be announced. This information comes from a job posting that was posted by the development company earlier this week. The job description for the role of Senior Software Engineer reads:

“BioWare Austin is home to the critically acclaimed and award winning Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO. After the hugely successful addition of its Free 2 Play option and the highly praised launch of space PVP with the Galactic Starfighter expansion, the Austin team continues driving forward with SW:TOR and is also hard at work on several unannounced projects. Apply today and learn about the exciting opportunities at our Studio.”

Additionally there is a post for a Usability Tester:

“BioWare is hiring temporary game testers. Our ideal candidates have played both online games such as MMORPGs (Star Wars the Old Republic, DC Universe Online) and action games (Bayonetta, Devil May Cry, Infamous).”

The descriptions of the above roles both allude to the fact that there are several titles in production from BioWare, and the other games listed in the tester snippet could potentially hint at the specific types of games we can expect.

In a recent interview with 4Gamer, the CEO of development company Level-5 Akihiro Hino hinted that the team has a new game in the works. Indeed, he also said that in the midst of this sluggish era in gaming, Level-5’s newest title will be a fresh game that will please gaming fans across the globe.

“In the midst of a rather sluggish consumer game industry at the moment, I believe that the industry needs a new game,” and added that the team will, “try our best to make a new title that’ll surprise all of you, so please look forward to that.”

Hino isn’t wrong. With the exponential growth of the gaming industry and technology in general, oftentimes in the amount of time it takes to develop a thorough and well-crafted game, technology has already advanced to the point where there is a more high-tech option available. Nonetheless, this is Level 5 which brought us compelling games like Ni no Kuni and Dark Cloud. What could they have in store? Wait and watch, as usual.

Guerrilla Cambridge seeks PS4 quality texturing and experience on AAA console games.

Guerrilla Cambridge recently posted a few new job openings for a senior environment artist and senior graphics programmer. If you’ll recall, the developer is responsible for developing Killzone Mercenary for the PlayStation Vita. But despite working on relatively smaller titles for Sony, it seems that their next project could be something bigger.

The studio is looking for an environment artist that can, “Demonstrate PS3/PS4 quality texturing (diffuse, normal and specular maps)”, along with “development experience on recent AAA console games.” The very fact that the PS4 is mentioned and console game experience is required pretty much ensures we’ll Guerrilla Cambridge’s next project will be on the next-gen console.

That being said, it will be interesting to see what exactly it’s working on. Could it be another Killzone spin-off, perhaps a sequel to Mercenary or Shadow Fall on the PS4 while Guerrilla Games focuses on the next major Killzone title? Let us know your thoughts below.

Oh Kojima.

You have to give Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes/The Phantom Pain director and series creator Hideo Kojima credit – the man just can’t stop hyping stuff up, even while he’s busy trying to deliver two parts of the biggest MGS game yet. But that’s exactly what happened recently when he tweeted the above picture with the words, “Kojima Production SUPER CONFIDENTIAL PROJECT’s experiment presentation & meeting.”

Kojima has dropped references over the past few years about wanting to work on Zone of the Enders 3 if there was a demand – that was reflected in the release of HD remakes for both games. Nonetheless, it could be something entirely different.

But if you look at the upper right corner, you’ll see a poster for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Coincidence?

Regardless, the earliest game to release will be Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, which is out on March 18th in North America and March 20th in Europe for PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Nippon Ichi Software has confirmed that a recent image on its New Year’s card, which showcases The Witch and The Hundred Knight along with Disgaea 4 along with portions of three new characters, is actually for a new, as of yet unannounced title.

NIS has already had quite a busy year. Along with development the aforementioned confirmed titles, 2013 saw the release of Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness, The Guided Fate Paradox and Battle Princess of Arcadias. The former two titles are already available in the West with Battle Princess only available in Japan. The Witch and The Hundred Knight has been confirmed for a Western release in March while Disgaea 4 remains a Japan-only release for now.

What are your thoughts on what the new game could be? Will you be picking up The Witch and The Hundred Knight when it releases for the PlayStation 3 on March 21st 2014 in Europe and March 25th 2014 in North America? Let us know your thoughts below.

Nah Seong Chan the managing director of NCsoft talked about Guild Wars 2 future plans during the company’s first quarter earning call through GamesIndustry.biz. This is what he had to say:

“…Of course, we are preparing an expansion pack, but in terms of when we will actually launch it, it’s something we are still monitoring.

“We are looking to the performance of the game, and then we will decide what will be the best time to do the launch.”

It seems like NCSoft are preparing an expansion for the critically acclaimed free-to-play MMORPG – Guild Wars 2. It’s not a real surprise; however it’s good to hear an official confirmation from the publisher.

Are you still enjoying Guild Wars 2 and are you excited for the upcoming unannounced expansion? Let us know in the comments below.

Check back on GamingBolt for more news regarding the new expansion for Guild Wars 2 and have a peek at our Guild Wars 2 review right here.

UPDATE: NcSoft has sent us an update clarifying the issue. An expansion is not confirmed as they are currently evaluating the best time for launching an expansion.

“In regards to your recent post on a Guild Wars 2 expansion, there is a slight misunderstanding when interpreting the answer from the NCSOFT earnings call. We are considering an expansion, but we are taking a wait-and-see stance. We are evaluating the performance of the game and deciding on when would be the best time to launch an expansion. But right now, our Living Story approach is very successful in keeping players engaged with new and exciting content. Launching boxed expansions are a great way to package content, but if we can do this on a more regular basis, something we’ve been doing since launch, it provides players with new content to explore and experience every time they log into the game.”
