The story is based on Norse mythology and sees the Aesir and Vanir at war, with Ragnarok seemingly on the horizon. As the Valkyrie, players must recruit Einherjar to assist in the war and discover her true destiny.

Along with its unique premise, Valkyrie Profile is acclaimed for its battle system, which saw party members’ attacks mapped to separate face buttons. By using consecutive attacks, players can execute combos that provide increased rewards, build the Hit Gauge for special attacks, and much more.

As for Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, it offers functions like quick save and load, the option to rewind, and visual presets. The original anime scenes are replaced with full motion video, with the English script seeing improvements. It retails for $19.99 on PS4 and PS5, but owners of the Digital Deluxe Edition for Valkyrie Elysium on PlayStation get it for free.

Square Enix is also set to release a PS5 and PS4 port of PSP title Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth alongside the upcoming new instalment, which will be offered as a bonus with the latter’s Digital Deluxe Edition (while also being separately purchasable). Though it’s not been confirmed that it will arrive a little later than expected.

In a message published on Twitter, Square Enix has announced that the PS5 and PS4 port of Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth has been delayed to December 22. If you purchase the aforementioned Digital Deluxe Edition, that’s when you’ll receive the port. Square Enix says it needs a bit more time to “improve the quality of the title.”

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth was, of course, itself an enhanced port of the original Valkyrie Profile. It remains to be seen how significant of an upgrade it will be on PS5 and PS4 over the PSP release.

Valkyrie Elysium launches for PS5 and PS4 on September 29, with a PC version following on November 11. A PlayStation demo of the game is also currently available.

Square Enix’s mobile port of Valkryie Profile: Lenneth, itself a PSP port of the first game that released in 2006, is now available on Android and iOS for $15.99. Check out the recent gameplay and launch trailers below.

Valkryie Profile: Lenneth is in Norse mythology as gods and mortals run amok. As the Valkyrie descends from Valhalla to Midgard, she must find chosen souls and recruit them to become Einherjar. Fighting alongside these characters will help train them, though the story also focuses on the Valkryie discovering her own identity. Renowned for its combat and soundtrack, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth even features multiple endings based on one’s decisions.

Though the game is a full-priced title, there are “booster options” available via in-app purchases for those who choose to use them. Mobile-centric features include visuals optimized for smartphones, the ability to save anywhere along with auto-save, an auto-battle option, and controls/UI optimized for the touchscreen.
