Blizzard's focus remains on the upcoming Warcraft 3: Reforged.

Diablo fans might be disgruntled (to say the last) with Blizzard, but those who care more about Warcraft have a lot to look forward to. With World of Warcraft having received a very good expansion recently, getting a Classic release next year, and Warcraft 3 getting remastered as well, it’s a good time to be a Warcraft fan.

However, for the longest time, fans of the property have been demanding a proper RTS sequel to the series, which, after all, is how it initially started out. There’s been no sign of those roots, though, since Warcraft 3’s expansion pack The Frozen Throne came out all the way back in 2003. As per Blizzard, though, that’s going to continue for the foreseeable future.

Speaking with GameSpot, Senior Producer Pete Stilwell said that there are currently no plans to make a full and proper Warcraft 4. “I mean, I wouldn’t rule anything out,” he said, “but we don’t have any plans around [Warcraft IV] at this point. Getting [Warcraft III: Reforged] right, I think, is our priority first and foremost.”

So all those who have been waiting for an RTS Warcraft sequel are going to have to keep waiting- it’s fine, at least we’ve all had over a decade and a half of practice of doing so. Either way, Warcraft 3: Reforged is looking like a salivating prospect, especially when you consider how heavily Blizzard seems to be reworking it. It’s out in 2019.

Blizzard will consider "new ideas" but there are no "specific plans".

Blizzard Entertainment is quite the busy developer these days, offering new content for Heroes of the Storm, World of Warcraft (with the upcoming expansion Legion), Diablo 3 and of course, its newest title Overwatch. However, following the release of StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void, the developer may consider releasing more RTS games in the Warcraft universe. Warcraft 4 confirmed? Not quite.

Speaking to IGN during Gamescom, Legacy of the Void producer Tim Morten stated that, “It’s very rewarding for us to hear that there’s demand out there for more RTS content in the Warcraft universe. There’s no question, though, that we’ll consider Warcraft, StarCraft, or even new ideas. Anything is possible [but] we don’t have any specific plans.”

It should be noted that Legacy of the Void will conclude the StarCraft 2 saga but won’t be “the end of StarCraft”. Look forward to more stories in that universe for the future. Stay tuned for more information on Blizzard’s other titles in the coming weeks.

The game industry confessions are just coming out real quick these days, aren’t they? Following an AMA recently held by a former Zynga employee on Reddit, a former Blizzard employee – who worked in the company from 2006 to 2012 as a Game Master, in Tech Support and then in QA – recently hosted an AMA session for fans.

One user asked if there was any hope for Warcraft 4. Surprisingly, the employee replied that, “You know, I think there was some talk of that going around, and I don’t think they would be opposed to the idea, but I think they want to focus on new titles right now to gain more exposure.”

Of course, aside from Diablo 3 and World of Warcraft, there hasn’t been much by way of “new” to come out of Blizzard Entertainment in a while. Project Titan, the company’s next MMORPG, has already reportedly been restarted with 70 employees from the formerly 100-strong team being shifted to other projects. More details will emerge soon hopefully – perhaps at E3 2013?

Blizzard looking to take over more Warcraft domains, Warcraft 4 on the cards?

It's certainly possible.

Blizzard recently acquired the domain WarcraftBattles.com last month, for no apparent reason, and now it’s gone ahead and filed a complaint against the owner of the domain HeroesofWarcraft.com to take it over as well.

The developer has filed the complaint (Case No. 1470639) with the National Arbritration Forum, hoping that the domain will be transferred to its name.

It’s possible that Heroes of Warcraft could be the title of the next Warcraft game, because as Fusible reports, to win this case, Blizzard needs to establish that the disputed domain name can easily confused with a trademark that is officially under the developer’s name.

The domain currently belongs to a UK resident and is being hosted at GoDaddy.com.

Do you think this hints at the existence (or future existence) of a new Warcraft game? Warcraft 4 is long overdue, some would say, and I, for one, would definitely like more Warcraft.

Tell us what you think in the comments section below.
