The new trailer focuses on showcasing the fast-paced gameplay of World of Tanks: HEAT across its various game modes, which can revolve around taking out enemy tanks, as well as accomplishing specific objectives. As its name and previous trailers have indicated, HEAT is a faster-paced game than the original World of Tanks.

The release of the game is accompanied by the start of its Launch Season, which features five free weekly Battle Passes and five ranks, with plenty of rewards to unlock. Three agents are available right from the beginning: Chopper (Defender, M1E1), Kent (Assault, XM1 90), and Hound (Marksman, Leo 1A6A1). Five more agents can be unlocked over the course of the Launch Season, for a total of eight playable agents across three battlefield roles: Defender, Assault, and Marksman.

World of Tanks: HEAT offers 15 vehicles to choose from, supporting a variety of playstyles through customizable modules and other equipment. These vehicles can be taken for a spin across 8 distinct maps that offer a range of biomes, settings, and visual styles, and 4 PvP modes: Hardpoint, Control, Kill Confirmed, and Conquest.

“Launching HEAT is a huge milestone for us, but in many ways, this is only the beginning,” said product director Artyom Yantsevich in a press release. “I want to thank our team, as well as our players for helping bring HEAT to life. We’re excited for what’s ahead and can’t wait to grow HEAT together.”

The Xbox Series X and PS5 versions of World of Tanks: HEAT use Performance Mode by default, targeting 60 FPS at 4K output with dynamic internal resolution scaling that can go down to 1080p if needed to maintain the frame rate. A Quality mode is also available that targets 30 FPS at 4K output with a higher floor for the internal resolution scaling. Xbox Series S targets 60 FPS at 1080p.

PS5 Pro players have more to look forward to thanks to the game’s inclusion of Performance Pro and Quality Pro modes that make use of PSSR. Performance Pro targets 60 FPS and 4K, with the dynamic resolution scaling going down to 1440p. Quality Pro, on the other hand, targets 30 FPS with all of the visual settings cranked up to the maximum.

PC players will need a minimum of an Intel Core i5 4670K or AMD Ryzen 3 2200G CPU, 8 GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 (2 GB), an AMD Radeon RX 560 (2 GB), or an Intel Arc A310 (4 GB) GPU. The studio has noted that this targets 1080p and 60 FPS on minimum settings by making use of upscaling through DLSS, XeSS, or FSR, depending on your GPU.

To target 1080p on 60 FPS with maximum settings with upscaling, the studio recommends an Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 (6 GB), an AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT (6 GB), or an Intel Arc A750 (6 GB) GPU, and 16 GB of RAM.

Things kick off with a bang with a team of tanks being airdropped along a coastline, and as they roll further inland, they are faced with an enemy squad. The tempo is then kicked off a notch with some metal music punctuating the destruction caused by these tanks. Along with the typical array of explosive weapons, each of the tanks will also be equipped with manoeuvrability tools, allowing them to travel at high speeds, and even drift when needed.

It doesn’t look like the tanks will be the only ones doing the fighting, however. The trailer shows quite frequent fly-bys of jets and drones, helping out their respective teams with additional firepower like missiles and even more focused bombing runs. Interestingly, after the fight is over, two of the characters wave to each other outside of the tank before having to rush back in since more jets are flying overhead, which likely means there will be more tanks being dropped in.

World of Tanks: HEAT was originally unveiled back in August 2025 with a trailer that showcased how its 10-on-10 battles will look. Wargaming had also confirmed at the time that players will be able to customize their vehicles in quite a few ways, including weapons and armor modules, as well as cosmetics.

Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi has described World of Tanks: HEAT as the studio’s “bold vision for the franchise” with its emphasis on fast-paced combat when compared to World of Tanks. When it was originally announced, the studio also noted that it would be compatible with the Steam Deck right from launch. Various platforms will also offer cross-progression for the game.

Just last month, Wargaming had offered players an early look at World of Tanks: HEAT with a limited closed beta run. The beta featured eight maps and a variety of tanks across quite a few game modes that revolved around attacking and defending various points of interest on the battlefield.

While World of Tanks: HEAT might represent a new vision for the future of the franchise, interestingly, Wargaming had said all the way back in 2017 that it had no interest in making a World of Tanks 2. In an interview, the at the time publishing director of the game Alex de Giorgio said that such a sequel didn’t really make sense for the studio.

The fact that Wargaming had already spent quite a few years in adding more content and features to the free-to-play title made starting afresh on a full-fledged sequel a difficult proposition. “It’s this constant evolution; that’s been the hallmark of the game,” said he said, noting that it “doesn’t really make sense to us.”

You’re going to be pleased to know that the studio has announced a limited-time closed beta for the game from April 16, 2026, all the way through to the 20th. It will be available on all consoles and PC, and registrations are currently open. It’s looking quite exciting with a bevvy of available tanks and eight maps alongside a variety of gameplay modes that have you attacking and defending for control of the battlefield in many different ways. You’re going to be joined by three others in its PvP gameplay loop, and the atmosphere is very much that of a nasty warzone where anything can go wrong.

World of Tanks: HEAT is currently in the works for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. It doesn’t have a release date.

World of Tanks: HEAT will focus on offering players more fast-paced combat than what Wargaming typically tends to offer. Players will command hero-enhanced tanks in epic 10-on-10 battles. Tanks can be customised with advanced weapon systems and armour modules. Players will also get to take command of experimental vehicles, each with their own unique abilities.

In the announcement press release, Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi has described World of Tanks: HEAT as being the studio’s “bold vision for the franchise” thanks to its fresh setting as well as new gameplay mechanics and faster pace of gameplay. The studio has also confirmed that the monetisation of World of Tanks: HEAT will focus purely on cosmetic items, time savers, and battle passes.

World of Tanks: HEAT is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Wargaming has also confirmed that the upcoming title will be compatible with the Steam Deck, and that it will be released on all platforms simultaneously, while also offering players cross-progression. However, no release date for the title has been confirmed yet.
