Digital Bros has announced the establishment of a new studio, Indolphinity, in Chengdu, which will work "closely" with 505 Games.

Months after acquiring the IP, Digital Bros has announced that a sequel to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is in development. Furthermore, it will be helmed by Xia Siyuan, who directed the original and was reportedly terminated from Leenzee (followed by several other team members).

While Siyuan will work “closely” with 505 Games, the parent company is establishing a new studio, Indolphinity, with an initial investment of 21.5 million Euros. Besides ensuring that development remains in China, it will be part of a “long-term commitment” to the region’s “game development ecosystem.”

Digital Bros co-CEO Raffi Galante stated that, “We have always believed that Wuchang has the potential to become a long-lasting global IP. Working with Xia Siyuan and Chengdu Indolphinity is the natural next step toward realizing that vision. From the beginning, our goal has been to protect and strengthen the original creative vision while giving the development team the resources and publishing capabilities needed to achieve global success.

“We are committed to preserving the cultural authenticity of this IP, keeping its creative heart rooted in China while bringing the world of Wuchang to players around the globe.”

Siyuan added, “We are delighted to once again enter into a deep partnership with 505 Games under our new studio brand, Chengdu Indolphinity. As a development team made up of Chinese creators, we firmly believe that profound cultural heritage is our greatest competitive strength.

“505 Games respects the creative process and understands developers’ needs. Our philosophies are highly aligned, giving us great confidence in the long-term future of the series. We take player and community feedback seriously while remaining committed to our original vision and cultural roots. We will strive to deliver higher quality and a more complete experience in response to players’ long-standing expectations.” He further noted that Wuchang’s story is “not over” and that the sequel would herald “a brand-new chapter” that’s “rooted in Eastern soil.”

Released in July 2025, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is set during the late Ming Dynasty, albeit in an alternate version of Shu beset by the Feathering disease. Players control Bai Wuchang, a pirate who seeks to revive her sister, but quickly loses her memory after becoming afflicted, thus turning this into a journey of attrition.

As a Souls-like action RPG, Wuchang can wield a variety of weapons and spells while unlocking new skills. It also features a unique mechanic, Madness, which allows for dealing and taking more damage, and manifesting as an Inner Demon if she falls. You can check out our thoughts on the title here – we scored it an 8 out of 10.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers recently celebrated five million players for its first anniversary, which makes the sequel’s announcement all the more auspicious. Though it may be a while, stay tuned for updates on its development.
