Xbox 360 players will be able to upgrade to the Xbox One version for $4.99.

Mojang has announced that Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will be available on the Xbox Live Marketplace in August and will cost $19.99. If you already own the Xbox 360 Edition though, you’ll be able to upgrade for only $4.99 (though a retail version will be required). The upgrade will be available for a full year after the Xbox One Edition releases.

Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will promise bigger worlds and more “scenic vistas” along with the ability to import save data and your own Minecraft world. You can also import downloadable skins and texture parks into the Xbox One Edition though Mojang has stated that not everything will make the transition into next gen.

Nonetheless, you’ll be mining, styling and profiling in August if everything goes according to plan. How will future worlds (and most importantly, Achievement City) look on the Xbox One? We’ll be waiting to find out ourselves so stay tuned for more information.

Zune Music Pass users can still avail of free songs however.

It’s already been confirmed that the upcoming Xbox Live update for Xbox One would remove PC games from Xbox.com and do away with Microsoft Points as a currency in favour of real-money exchange. Now it seems that Zune Marketplace is the next to go.

In a recent report by Game Informer, Zune Marketplace will be replaced by Xbox Music and Xbox Video, which will also offer unlimited streaming via an Xbox Music Pass. Those with a Zune Music Pass needn’t worry though – you’ll still be able to pick up ten free songs a month. There will of course be other changes, which will be detailed in the coming months as the Xbox One readies for its November release.

Check out the Microsoft FAQ in the meantime for more information regarding Live. In the meanwhile, the Xbox One releases in November alongside Forza Motorsport 5, Dead Rising 3 and according to indications via Xbox.com, Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Only eight years too late!

Yes, you read that right. No, there was not a mistake. The headline says Xbox 360, not Xbox One.

Microsoft’s eight year old console will finally be getting self publishing for indie games, something that rivals Sony and Nintendo have had for years now, on the Xbox Live Marketplace. This initiative, which is similar to the one on Xbox One, is an attempt to win over indie developers, after a generations’ worth of practices that alienated and antagonized them.

Now, Polygon reports that according to indie developer FarSight Studios, self publishing is also coming to Microsoft’s aging machine.

“Microsoft has just announced that indie developers (like FarSight) can now self-publish on Xbox Live Arcade instead of being required to find publishers for their games,” the developer said in their monthly newsletter. “This means we can bring The Pinball Arcade back to the 360 ourselves, and also opens the door to an Xbox One version of The Pinball Arcade in the future!”

Microsoft for their part have maintained a no comment policy, and asked us to wait for Gamescom for further announcements.

Teaser images for new DLC appear via Twitter

It looks Crysis 3 is about to get some fresh new multiplayer downloadable content in the near feature according to the image below that was posted on the official game’s twitter by Crytek.

One tweet teases an image of an unknown location that you can take a look at below:

Another tweet shows a picture of a new gun and asks fans a question:

It seems that the new DLC might be taking place in a tropical island along with a couple of new guns. Nothing has been leaked about the rumored DLC other than the achievements that have been previously spotted via Xbox Live.

The DLC Achievements include 250 points and a total of 10 individual achievements, and it’s obvious that the new DLC will feature multiplayer content.

Let us know if you’re excited to know what the new DLC is for Crysis 3 in the comments below.

Check back on GamingBolt for more updates regarding Crytek’s franchises.

Any more excuses for not playing 2012's Game of the Year?

Telltale Games The Walking Dead seems to be a clear fore-runner for 2012’s coveted Game of the Year award, but it’s also quite the bargain. Even a single episode provides more gameplay and plot than most full retail games and the entire experience packages it all expertly. And if that didn’t attract you already, maybe this will: all five episodes of The Walking Dead are now on sale at the Xbox Live Marketplace for just 800 Microsoft Points ($10).

Currently, Microsoft is running a promotion where you get the first episode, “A New Day” for free, but after downloading that, you can purchase each subsequent episode at 200 Microsoft Points ($2.50), adding up to the greatest deal since they started fondue.

And since the retail release has its fair share of issues, especially with the Xbox 360 version, this presents an opportunity for gamers to bypass the pains of patching and get straight to the zombies.

Play and unlock a custom 2013 SRT Viper GTS for the final game.

Good news, true believers and other assorted racing fans! Turn 10’s Forza Horizon demo is now available on XBox Live’s Marketplace. The demo is 1.57 GB, and goes live for non-Gold members next week. So let that be an indicator as to the special treatment in place.

The demo has quite a myriad of features such as the Horizon Festival event and various street races. You can also explore a section of the game map, which allows gamers to experience the open-world gameplay in Forza Horizon for the first time. Hopefully, it won’t be the harbinger of the series’ end like some pundits are claiming it to be.

Finally, if you play, you’ll be able to unlock a custom 2013 SRT Viper GTS, which will be playable in the final game. So for now, count on being able to admire it before the game’s release.

Check out the demo now on the Marketplace.
