Rémi Boutin, senior game designer on Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, hopes to be able to work on a Legend of Zelda game one day.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has been a great critical success for Ubisoft, having drawn widespread acclaim for the way it has reinvented the franchise as a Metroidvania while also returning it to its sidescrolling roots. Members of its development team recently held an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on Reddit, where Rémi Boutin, senior game designer on Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, spoke about his desire to make a Zelda game.

When asked about popular external properties that he would like to work on someday, Boutin said he personally would “love” to work on a Legend of Zelda game, specifically mentioning that he’d want to make spinoff based on Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link, which is the only sidescrolling game in the mainline Zelda series.

“Personally, I would LOVE to work with the Zelda IP. Maybe a strange spin-off based on Adventure of Link?” Boutin wrote, before also mentioning Castlevania as a franchise he would like to work with.

This is, of course, just one developer talking about his personal dream project, but given the fact that Ubisoft and Nintendo are no strangers to collaborating with one another using the latter’s biggest properties, a la the Mario + Rabbids games, a Zelda game made by the Lost Crown team would sure make a lot of sense. Stranger things have happened, right?

In our review of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, we awarded it a score of 9/10, saying, “The Lost Crown is a fantastic game. Not only does it capture the biggest strengths of Prince of Persia’s earliest sidescrolling instalments, it also reinvigorates the series in spectacular fashion with its Metroidvania design structure. From level design to combat, from the platforming to its visual style, from the exploration to the soundtrack, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is an impressive accomplishment in more ways than one, and one of Ubisoft’s best games in years.” Read the full review through here.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
