Third parties are generally on board with Nintendo’s Switch, calling the concept refreshing, and generally lining up to support the system with their games. However, some of them are still acting coy about whether or not their games will make it onto Nintendo’s hybrid. One of them, surprisingly enough, is Tekken 7 producer Katsuhiro Harada.
Harada has been heavily involved with Nintendo- he worked on Pokken Tournament with them, and his team also assisted Nintendo on Super Smash Bros. So you’d expect him to be one of the third party developers most intimately involved with the Switch. However, that does not appear to be the case yet- he admits to being surprised by the Switch and what it is, and refuses to confirm or deny the possibility of a Tekken port on the system.
“We’re quite surprised by the Nintendo Switch announcement; read into that what you like,” he said in an interview with Gamespot.
I do expect that we will see games like Tekken on the system, especially since Pokken and Smash are both likely to be ported over to it, and Bandai Namco appear to be rather big on it. This is likely just Harada being coy and secretive.
